Thanks! We are very proud of him....especially after losing his grandpa and his determination to fight through all of his injuries and falling just short of qualifying for Nationals. Here's a picture of the three of us taken at the event today (of course, Markie wasn't smiling...he has always told me "wrestlers don't smile"...it takes away from their image).

Congrats Kathy!:woohoo::cheer2: What an honor! I know you are so proud of your son!

We returned home today from our first stay at CSR. We were very happy with the resort. It was beautiful!
We requested connecting rooms, renovated rooms, and ground floor. We got all of our requests...we were in Casitas 4. I loved the look of the rooms and the fresh white bedding. But what I REALLY loved was the fact that the pack-n-play fit easily in the vanity area and the privacy doors gave us a "mini-suite". Can't overstate how much of a sanity saver that was to give the baby his own space and we could still watch TV & hang out in the room after he was down.
The walk to El Centro wasn't bad, though the Dig Site was a bit of a hike. If we were to stay at CSR again I would likely ask for a higher-number Cabana just to be closer to the pool. But I did like that ours was the first bus stop so were guaranteed seats to the parks, and were dropped off "home" first.
We ate frequently at the Pepper Market and I have to say that if you are using the quick-service dining plan, then CSR is the best place to stay! I loved all of the variety offered there and what a deal! We were getting $15-20 entrees, plus specialty bakery desserts and a drink for a quick service credit. I'm not sure I'll ever be hungry again after this stay!
The resort airline check-in went smoothly and apparently Disney and United Airlines have some kind of deal worked out and passengers don't have to pay the checked luggage fee! This saved us $30 :)
The only negative thing I have to mention is a bit of a fluke and not likely to happen again...but one night during our stay, at 9:20pm an incredibly loud noise woke me and the kids up. I thought the ceiling was caving in all around us! Turns out that the room directly above us had a problem with their toilet and a worker was using an electric hand-saw to fix it. The front desk received many complaints and my husband was assured that it was straightened out, but it continued to be used again and again for the next 15-20 minutes. I know this might not seem like that big of a deal, but I had just spent 36 hours awake with my son in the ER and then admitted to the pediatric ICU (our vacation nightmare), and we all really needed the rest.
But back to the positives, we really enjoyed this resort and I would have no problem recommending it!
ps-- One other thing that we really appreciated-- when my son was discharged from the hospital (it was in downtown Orlando), we had to take a cab home since we had no transportation and had gotten there via ambulance. The front desk at CSR reimbursed us for the $60 cab fare; it was a very nice touch.

First and foremost, I HOPE that your son is doing well. How scary that must have been for you. Second, I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the CSR and that you got all of your requests and that you enjoyed the Pepper Market (a love/hate it relationship with a majority of the people). I am so happy when another person sees what we see in the CSR. Thanks for your report. If you have any pictures, I hope you will post them.

Kathy

You would have to use the early ticket pick up at the theme parks for the tickets not to be on the room kets.
If you ask the CM at check-in, you will most likely get someone on the college program and they may not understand what you are wanting.

So I can pick up my tickets at the park before I check in? We are arriving late Wed. night and staying off site. last year we got up early and went to CSR checked in and then hit the parks. My question is would we be more or less likely to get our room request if we check in early? Am i right in assuming that it is easier to get moved earlier in the day if we don't get our request? If so then we will just go check in early. If it doesn't make a difference then we will probably just go on to the parks.

Thanks for the review. I hope your son is better and you were able to have some fun! We ended up in the ER withour daughter while at Disney a few years ago and it was awful. Your situation sounds much worse so I hope everything is OK now.

Just got home. :sad1: Will update later, gonna go catch some zzzz's. Oh I did stop up and say HI to JamesLyn! :)

I leave tomorrow morning!!! I cannot wait to see this beautiful resort! We land sometime around 1pm. I did the online checkin, sent my fax... I am all set!

:banana::banana:

Thanks for the kind words, my son is indeed doing much better! Lousy timing to be sick, but we're grateful that the care he needed was available.

JamesLynn, KatMark:

I am planning to upgrade my ticket to an AP. I have been told this is easier to do if my tickets are not on my KTTW card. I was planning to use online checking..but given that I need my tickets seperate..should I even bother? Would it make more work for the CM for me to have checked in and then ask for it to be changed? Is this the sort of thing I could request in a fax?

I want the process to go as smoothly as possible and want to make sure I do my part to make it so.

(I'm trying to dazzle :wizard: my husband with my Disney expertise...)

I had an AP when I checked in to CSR in January. A very kind manager removed my tickets from my KTTW card without incident at check in, since I knew one day I'd try to use the KTTW card to enter a park and then be very annoyed at myself! :rotfl: She happened to be there at check-in; otherwise, she told me that I'd have to have gone to the Concierge desk, but they could also do it for me.

Thank you!

Someone else also reassured me that since DH wsn't upgrading to an AP his KTTWC could be used for DDP if my card was somehow mucked up.

Can anyone tell me a bit more about the newly refurbished rooms in CSR, we were originally going to book for POR but I really like the look of CSR and the new rooms look lovely but I can't see whether there are table and chairs in these rooms, does anyone know if they have them? I would really like this as my DS likes to get up pretty early :-] and the table and chairs would be helpful for him to do colouring at etc.

Hadn't noticed a fridge in any of the pictures either, I take it there is still a fidge in the room etc? Anyone got piccies please.

Thanks

There is no table and chairs in the rooms anymore. There is a desk and chair and then two ottomans.

Yes, there is still a fridge. It is on the far left of the dresser behind the pull out door.

Brilliant thanks so much KatMark, another question then, what is this pull out door business, people talking about getting dressed in private and not waking kids etc, I don't get it?! :confused3

Thanks :)

We went to youngest son's college wrestling banquet where he received the Ironman Award and was nominated for one of the captains for next year.

Congratulations to your son! The picture you posted was great too! Although he says he won't smile, I think I see him smirking a little bit.:goodvibes

Thanks :)

Instead of a curtain separating the bathroom area from the bedroom, there are now sliding doors at the CSR.
