Going to the CSR for the first time next month. We like the style of the Casitas and how close Casita 4 and 5 are to the first bus stop. But....we also like the look and idea of a renovated room. Would you stick with our original request of Casitas 4 or 5 or ask for a renovated Casita room in building 3?

Would GREATLY appreciate any and all advice.

THANKS!

:thumbsup2
Very close. Bus stop #2 is right behind casitas 4 & 5.

I think we all felt that we were not a part of the resort like we do feel at the deluxes. With those resorts, the beautiful and bustling lobbies serves as a gateway in/out of your room. Consequently, we did not feel our resort played as big of a part of our usual WDW experience. It was a place to hang our hat, and get a bit of rest mid-day and in the evening. We also did not like the outside entrance to our rooms. The walkways to the rooms did sort of feel and look like a Motel 6, and when kids ran up and down those walkways, screaming like kids with energy will do, it was loud and annoying.
I love CSR but I have also thought about it feeling different than the resorts with hallways. I always stay in 8a 0r 8b, when we leave we usually take the bus from stop 4. When we come home we stop at 1 and usually grab a snack and walk through the building. If you never walk into the main building it will feel mote motel 6 ish I suppose. I was thinking the other day it would reall stink if I was there for a few days and it was raining and thinking what would we do. That really is the only downside. But I feel all the positives out weight the negatives. We stayed at Boardwalk recently and to be honest I hated it and felt it was so impersonal. AKL - loved it and loved the lodge feel. I think it is really hard to find a resort that has everything you absolutely love. CSR for me comes pretty close and the excellent transportation really seals the deal for me. AKL has awesome transportation too but is a bit further away. I always felt like I was on the bus forever when we went to MK. But I would stay there agian.

Also, Pepper Market - did you get the kids pizza or the round Pizza? The Round Pizza is awesome the large slices are made for young children who usually like flavorless bland cheese pizza. PM will also make things according to your request. You can ask for more spices or less to suit your taste. My mother has a Gluten / wheat allergy and they made her some amazing meals cooked to order.

I know what you mean. We stayed there in June and it rained every afternoon, wicked thunderstorms. We'd hang out in the main building until the rain stopped or slowed down. That's the downside of all mods and values.

Wi-Fi is available to Guests staying at CSR!!! Guests with Wi-Fi enabled laptop computers or PDA's will be able to access the Internet from the common areas at CSR. Smart City is the vendor providing this service and 24-hour technical support for those Guests who need it. Smart City will bill the Guest using a secure credit card transaction via the on-screen Internet connection. Requirements: Requires a wireless interface card (WIC), available for purchase in the resort's business center. Price: $4.99 for the first 60 minutes or $9.95 for 24 contiguous hours. Coronado Springs areas include the Main Lobby, Convention Center hallway, the Dig Site (Feature Pool), Francisco's.

The rumor is it will be available resort wide in the future. That I don't know about.

:) Happy my daughter and I booked a 4/3 stay at CSR while my hubby is on a business trip there. We could only get a waterview room for the dates(May 16-23), so we took it. Now I am seeing that it's not worth it. Any way I have a better chance of getting a nicer view room? We have no problems with walking around the resort, so don't NEED to be close to pool or restaurants, just want a nice view.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Casita 3 (lake and fountain), 4 (lake and quiet pool) and 5 (lake and fountain) along with all the cabana buildings (lake) have great views. Rancho 7b has a pool view as well. There are so many to choose from...

Here are a few of them:

Thanks for the quick response to waterview. May be stupid? When do I request? Now, week before visit? How? By phone.

Sorry if this is a silly question..

In regards to the renovated rooms...

I have seen pics of some renovated rooms with very elegant dark wood furnishings (not the greeen/orange aztec look). I have also see pics of the old furnishings with the queen beds. My question is, are all rooms with the queen beds renovated to the new scheme, or is it possible to find a room with two queens that still has the old look.

If so, where should I request location wise to get one of the new rooms, they are fabulous!

TIA, Jen

All the rooms will be renovated to the new look but that won't be completed until 10/2009. Cabana 9b, 9a, 8b are complete. They are working on 8a now. The top floors of casita 1, 2, and 3 are done too. The rest to to be completed. When are you going?

I have been wanting to ask the same question as nenner1 for about a week now! We will be in FLA the first weekend in March and we are strongly considering staying at CSR, but only if we can get a renovated room! I know that's probably silly and isn't a guarantee so I am hesitating on making the reservation. Obviously, time is getting short and I need to make a decision! We are in town for a wedding and not a lot of Disney; we just want a nice and fairly romantic place to stay because it's our first weekend away without kids in over 7 years!
Buzz2001 - any idea what the odds are of getting a renovated room? :)

By March, they should be 40 to 50% done so I would say 50/50.

:goodvibes My hubby ate at Maya Grill when CSR opened and really enjoyed our meal. Now I am reading a ton of bad:confused3 reviews. Any feedback? We will be going in May and thought it would be a nice quiet place to eat the evening we arrive.

The food is different from when they first opened but we have had good meals and service there since then. Like any place, you will always get mixed reviews.

The unofficial disney guide book rates it low and I have seen other reports on the dining forums. I think they are unimpressed with the food for the price. When we went a few years ago it really was simple fresh grilled food and we enjoyed it very much.
I am not a huge buffet person and like things simple, so will keep looking.

If you can get the search to work and go to the dining reviews page, there have been a couple of reviews of Maya Grill in the last six months or so. Some of them have been great, some of them okay and some of them bad. Like any restaurant, you can have a good or bad experience. Like the previous poster, we've only done breakfast at Maya Grill because we are normally at the parks for dinner.

That's because they try to rate it as a food court and try to compare it to the other mod food courts. It's nothing like those places. The guides are comparing apples to oranges.

Ok, I have been reading this thread for days now. So I decided to join and let you all know how informative you have all been.
I was already booked for our 1st time staying at the Coronado, I was nervous about changing from the POP, the kids just love it there and we always get the same room and the same mousekeeper. But I convinced them to try something new. I sold them on the slide at the pool.
After hours of reading all the postings, I called back and changed all my requests. Thanks to all the advice I found on here it helped me to get a better idea of what I needed to ask for.
I do have a question though, can I use the refillable mugs from last year (the year of a million dreams) at the Coronado, or will they only allow me to use thiers?

No, unfortunately you have to purchase theirs. The restaurants at the CSR are owned by an outside vendor so you have to use their mugs. In reality, the mugs you have are supposed to only be good for the visit for which you purchased them for. However, I know many people bring them back and use them again. We just buy a new one at CSR every year and I either bring it home and one of the kids takes it to their dorm/apartment and ends up losing it or I leave it with someone at the pool on our last day if they haven't purchased one. You'll see that the ones at the CSR are bigger than the YOMD's ones. Here's a picture:
