DH and I will make our first visit to CSR in March for our 25th wedding anniversary...where should we hope to stay? I did visit the spa for a massage when I was at WDW a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted to get a peek at the resort.

Many guests read or hear about cabana 9b or low numbered casita buildings but not all guests will be able to get a room in those buildings or may need a room in those buildings. These are not necessarily the best locations for every guest, in fact not best for most. (As of 1/2009, the conversion of cabana 9b to BUSINESS CLUB LEVEL was completed but it has been put on hold for leisure guests. This building can be requested once again.)

For conventioneers the Casitas 1 or 3 are often the best. These are close to the convention center; but quite a distance from pools and bus stops.

For adult couples, especially honeymooners or those celebrating anniversaries Casitas 4 or 5 with a water view is exceptional. Casita 4 has the quiet pool, fitness center, spa, salon, and both are close to bus stop #2.

For “leisure guests with children” here are some great locations; Cabana 8a, Rancho 7b, Cabana 8b, 9a, Rancho 6b, and 6a...in that order. Nearness to El Centro is usually of no importance to many guests. It's much more important to be close to the park bus stops and the “Dig Site”. Leisure guests may come to El Centro once or twice; but they will be at the buses twice a day (at least) and the pool often when they are at the resort.

For adults or large families who wish to be close to a park bus stop and to a “quieter pool” but are not interested in the theme pool, building 7a is great and has close proximity to parking.

Building 2 also is close to parking and usually one of the quietest buildings, especially from the 4th floor. The fourth floor of building actually includes part of the upper floors of building 3 and has easy access to the convention center by way of the elevator courtyard of building 1 (especially in a rainstorm).

In other words, there is no “best location for everyone”. Each building has its own plusses and minuses. The cast members will be happy to guide you into the building that fits your needs best……..if you let them know what those needs and expectations may be.

Also, for a reality check…….when there is a large convention……not everyone is going to get a room next to the convention center. In fact, most of the rooming blocks are set up by the group having the convention long before any of the convention guests arrive…… Sometimes, there is little cast member latitude on changing those assignments.

As always, if there are special needs that must be addressed, fax the resort a week before arrival. Be sure you are faxing to the resort and not to Walt Disney Travel Company, their booking agency. The resort cast is best able to accommodate special needs. Often guests call the reservation desk with these requests and do not understand that this is not the resort; but a central reservation desk for ALL of Walt Disney World. The fax number is available by calling Walt Disney World information and asking for the front desk operations fax number.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building (closest to the pool).

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above (9a has a quiet pool).

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

We're very excited. We just switched from a value resort to a standard room at CSR. We looked at your site but didn't see any pictures of inside the rooms. Do you have any pictures of the inside? Thanks.
Here you go...

Question....I see the pictures of the shampoo's and stuff (full size) are they only available in the new rooms or do all rooms have the full size? I will be packing in a few days and need to know if I should bring extra with us. I'm not requesting any room, letting the wind blow as to where we stay, lol! Thanks!

We are thinking of going back in August and are seriously thinking about this resort. Is it kid friendly? Can u request bed rails? Or is this a resort we should wait until our kids are a little older?

Yes, CSR is a kid friendly resort. I never requested bed rails but I've read that others have. I can ask for you when I arrive there in 10 days.

CSR has a great main pool area for the kids. There is an arcade, playground, sand volleyball court and a kiddie pool.

ok, I am freaking out now because we are leaving in 9 days!!!!! I called to make my room request and asked for Cabanas 8A or Ranchos 7B but I did not specify re-furbed room because I thought they all were done....
Reading keercydeer's post said it looks like 8A was getting redone when they were just there.
What should I do? should I call back and add the Refurbed room as my first request? I feel so stupid because I didn't think that was a n issue any longer.

Please calm me down:scared: . I know it is a little thing but I just got back from California for a week for work and have 9 days to get this family of 4 together!!!!!! At least I rememberd to tell them my daughter's bday is at the end of the trip!

TIA. you guys are really the BEST!!!!

Deep breath and relax. First, remember it is a request and not a guarantee. Second, is location of the room or a new room more important to you? If you'd rather have a rehabbed room, then call back. If the location is more important leave it as it is and then when you check in, with a smile on your face, add that if a rehabbed room is available that you'd really like on. Also, be sure to mention when you check in your daughter's bday again to be sure you get her birthday button.

We just returned last night from a week at CSR - it was wonderful :)

We stayed in Cabanas 8b - I think it was the perfect location - the bus stop was steps away, the pool & hottub were super close and it was just a short walk to the main area.

They were re-habbing 8a while we were there. Hard to tell when it will be done. Our room was one of the renovated ones and it was very nice. We stayed in room 8604. It faced the lake - we didn't pay for a water view but we got one!

When we checked in, the front desk CM said - "your name sounds familiar. Oh yeah, I assigned you a room earlier because you sent a fax. I always figure if someone goes to the trouble to send a fax, they must want something for a good reason so I try to make it happen." Turns out another CM assigned our room to an earlier guest so he took some time to find us another great location that satisfied my requests - renovated room in the cabanas section. Plus the free upgrade.

Our room wasn't ready so we headed to the pool bar for a drink and saw a baby alligator in the lake (close to the bridge)!! So cool! I took some pics and will post later once I get the photos uploaded to the computer.

I'll give more details about our trip later too.

Quick question re: adjoining rooms. Are there any near the pool area? And, are there any that have two queens on one side and a king on the other or are there only two queens in each? Just curious and thinking ahead...thanks in advance!

50% of all CSR rooms are adjoining (door between). Yes, they have some that are king and two queens.

Does anyone have the fax #? I'm sorry for asking what I'm sure is redundant, but I couldn't find it. Thanks!

I know that June is a Busy time, I will be there the 14th -21st.

If I stay at 8A, I think that Bus stop number 4 is the closest.
Will the buses be packed? OR full most of the time?
When they get to that stop

Thanks

Mike
I stayed there in June once. The transportation was fine from bus stop #4. Actually, Bus stop #1 is the last stop. If I remember correctly, that was the trip that I had to stand twice. Both trips involved Epcot. Once going to Epcot and once leaving Epcot at 2pm in the afternoon. One thing I definitely remember is that it was hot in FL during June though.

My family got back from WDW, and our first CSR stay, yesterday. We were there for 9 nights. I thought I would post some of my thoughts about our experience.

First, this was my families 10th trip to WDW. My DH and I stayed at CBR in the early 1990's, but all of our other stays have been at WDW deluxe of DVC properties. I was a bit nervous about staying at CSR, but have to say that we had a very good experience!

For those keeping track of the renovations, Cabanas 9B, 9A and 8B are totally renovated. We stayed in 8B, in room 8640. We were upgraded to a waterview room absent our request. We LOVED our location...more about that later. The week of 1/26, the construction was in full swing on 8A. We saw all of the furnishing being removed, which took a couple of days. We saw the carpet layers there one day, the doors to the rooms being sandblasted before repainting, and one day all of the new mattresses were stored in the covered walkways near each room. I would imagine that 8A will be completed soon.

We found the CM's to be wonderful at CSR! Everyone we encountered, from the check-in staff, to the bellmen and the Pepper Market staff, were great and accomodating. Let me give you an example of their great service: My DS inadvertantly left his backpack on the entrance bench when our town car came to drive us to the airport yesterday. We realized it once we are at the airport. My DH called CSR from the airport, and someome immediately secured the backpack. He asked if they would ship it to us and charge it to the credit card they had on file for us, and the CSR staff handling the matter said they would be happy to send it, priority shipping, at no cost to us! I could not believe it!!! Talk about pixie dust!pixiedust:

The renovated rooms are beautiful! The dark wood, and combination of muted, soothing colors make the rooms seem more upscale than I would have expected at a moderate resort. They made good use of space during the renovations. There was plenty of room for the three of us, and the queen beds (and bedding) are quite sumptuous and comfortable. There was a flyer in our room about the bedding packages. I loved the ceiling fans! We all sleep with fans at home, so the ceiling fan provided the perfect amount of white noise for us. My only complaint is how tiny those bathrooms are. Close the door before you go in to take a seat, or your knees will hit the door if you try and close it after! I did love the shower though...great shower head, and the tiled ledge gives you super storage to keep all your toiletries.

We had good housekeeping service. Our rooms were always done up by the time we came back from the parks in the early afternoon. I will say that the new, dark furniture means that housekeeping needs to do more dusting because the wood shows everything. I noticed that on our 7th day our nightstand was quite dusty, but the following morning it was dusted well by our mousekeeper. We had no towel animals, but then again we have no small children, and we weren't expecting them. We saw some very cute towel animals perched on other people's window ledges and we had fun looking at them as we walked past.

I loved the location of Cabanas 8B. We were right next to the quiet pool and the laundry, both which we used on several occasions. Also, bus stop 4 was just a hop, skip and a jump from our building. I think this was the perfect location!

I think the bus service from/to CSR is great! Since we were in 8B, bus stop 4 was so close. I know that many here have reported that the busses stop in the following order: 2, 3, 4 and 1. But, I wanted to tell you that that was not consistently the order. I would say that 3/4 of the time that was our experience, but the other 1/4 of the time it was 1, 2, 3 and then 4. There was no rhyme or reason to it. The resort was very quiet, and I think we had a full bus just a couple of times during our stay. There were several times when the three of us were the only people on the bus to or from a park. Twice (once on our way to DTD, and the other on our return to CSR), we had drivers who did not make full stops or turn on the interior lights. We were standing to get off, and they pulled away from the stop. We yelled to the driver both times and they stopped, but it was a bit annoying. I think this could happen at any resort, and I do not consider it a CSR problem.

The grounds of CSR are absolutely beautiful! They are well maintained, and the setting, around such a beautiful lake, makes for a very peaceful experience. The main pool area is stunning, and there were always plenty of lounge chairs available when we were there.

We ate at the Pepper Market once, for dinner. We found the staff, the wait staff and those handling food preparation, to be very nice and helpful. The food? Honestly, it was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had at WDW. I had a cheese pizza, DH had a curry stir fry with egg rolls and DS had beef fajitas. We had no beverages, and our bill was $53.00. Considering they make most everything to order, we were surprised at how tasteless our meals were. I am NOT finicky about my pizza and will pretty much eat anything that anyone calls pizza, but that pizza had no taste whatsoever. My DS stated that the food was worse than his school cafeteria food, and he HATES the school cafeteria food, so that is saying something. To contrast, the following evening, we ate at WGP express in DTD, and for the same money (including beverages and tip) we had a wonderfully tasty meal, with more food (Chicken Caeser salad, butternut squash soup, roasted vegetable melt served with a side salad, fresh fruit, a pepperoni and mushroom pizza, a Sprite and a bottled water) for almost the exact price as our Pepper Market meal.

We did not find the walking distances at CSR to be a problem. I will say that filling up our refillable mugs was kind of a pain because you have to schlep a ways to get a refill. This was definately a difference when comparing CSR to the delixe resorts we have stayed at.

Okay, so I have lots of positive things to say about CSR. The question is would we stay there again? The family consensus is "no". I would, but DH and DS did not like CSR as much as the deluxe/DVC properties. I think we all felt that we were not a part of the resort like we do feel at the deluxes. With those resorts, the beautiful and bustling lobbies serves as a gateway in/out of your room. Consequently, we did not feel our resort played as big of a part of our usual WDW experience. It was a place to hang our hat, and get a bit of rest mid-day and in the evening. We also did not like the outside entrance to our rooms. The walkways to the rooms did sort of feel and look like a Motel 6, and when kids ran up and down those walkways, screaming like kids with energy will do, it was loud and annoying. I will state that parents were great about not allowing that kind of behavior late at night; we found the resort to be quiet and great for sleeping at night.

So, that sums up our CSR experience. If anyone has any questions, ask away!!

Has anyone ever tried to order a cake to be delievered in the room? If so, how did it taste?

I am trying to think of something to do to surprise my DS who will be turning 6.

This DIS'er ordered a cake and had it delivered to the room.

After his nap, we got ready and I sent DH to the bus stop before me so I could decorate the table in our room. I had ordered a cake previously in the week and asked to have it delivered to the room in the evening. When we got back to the room around midnight we found a birthday cake and a birthday greeting from Mickey Mouse along with some balloons (greeting card with balloons was CM from check-in extra special thing :) )

I just switched from POP to CSR today. I have a king room. I requested Cabanas 8b or Casitas 3. Does anyone know if all king rooms in these 2 buildings are renovated yet! If not should I call back and request a renovated room.
