Another silly question -

What time is check-in and out? Can't find it.....

If we happen to arrive @ MCO around 10:30, I am figuring we will be at CSR by 11:15, 11:30 at the latest using ME. Can we check in that early? What are the chances that we would get into a room without having to wait?

Thanks!!!
You can leave you bags with bell services and check-in. They just won't tell you your room number but they will give you your room keys. May will tell you the building too. Then you can head off to a park and just call in a few hours to find out the room number. They will give you a number to call.

I read with some degree of concern Buzz's comment regarding CSR being full this week and next with large conventions. We are arriving Friday for 8 nights to celebrate my 60th and Surviving Cancer this past summer. Should I consider a change of resorts? I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks!

Michael

All resorts are full, CSR will just have a large convention going on which actually is a benefit to the guests. It keeps them off the buses and out of the pool because they will be off doing their convention work. The PM could be busy at times but we usually avoid the tradition dining times.

We have had conventions there all seven times we have stayed--both small and large conventions (this past September it was a big union group) and we have never had an issue with the conventioeers. We see them in the morning when we go for our coffee or in the late afternoon as they are leaving their meetings to go back to their rooms or whatever.

Hi there, I have stayed at CSR 2x already and now I get to go there for a convention (can't believe they expect me to work at Disney;) ) anyway, I have a question for anyone who can answer......what are my chances of being placed in Casitas? I believe this is where they used to put the convention-goers, however now that Cabanas has business club level, I'm unsure of where I'll be. I did not request a certain part when I made my ressies because I just assumed they wouldnt put me in Ranchos (dont get me wrong, its a pretty area, but a little far from the convention ctr.

What are your thoughts?
TIA!

During all the times we have been there, the convention people have been in all parts of the resorts--Cabanas, Casitas and Ranchos. This last convention the group hired the "internal bus" and they were taking people to the farthest parts of the resort who did not want to walk.

It depends on how large your group is and what you convention coordinator sets up. But I've seen groups in all parts of the resort.

I am very excited that we decided to upgrade to CSR! The price difference being staying at the Pop Century and CSR was about $40 per night more, and we felt like it would be worth it for the extra amenities. Here's why:

1 - I am a big guy, and CSR now has queen-sized beds in their newly renovated rooms. :cool1: :thumbsup2 To me, the only bad thing about vacations is that I miss my bed at home, and I usually don't sleep that well. (We sleep on a queen-size at home.) I think these beds are going to really make a difference in my relaxing and getting sleep.

2 - The rooms are bigger, and as our kids are growing I was afraid the four of us would be all over each other while in the room. :crowded: While it is true that we spend most of our time in the parks anyway, we are big believers in the afternoon breaks.....so we do spend some afternoon time at the resort.

3 - The Dig Site pool. Ahhhh.... need I say more? Seriously, we LOVED this big pool area and the jaquar slide. My kids would have been perfectly happy to just hang out at the resort and swim all day! I know the Pop has three really cool pools, but we all loved the slide at CSR. Also, we loved having the towel service poolside.

4 - Siesta's Cantina. DW and I enjoyed having a nice, tropical drink while watching the kids swim in the pool. It was a great way to relax in the afternoon! The kids used their refillable mugs to keep from being thirsty.

5 - The Pepper Market. Even though we only ate their twice on our last trip, we really enjoyed it and we thought the atmosphere was really cool! Most people consider it to be one of the best values for counter service in all of Disney World. We also filled our refillable mugs there often.

6 - The room amenities, such as refridgerator, flat screen TV, a vanity area that can be seperated from the rest of the room for changing, etc.

7 - Maybe it sounds a little corny, but it just feels "homey" to us now. I think it is just "our place."

All in all, the cost was just over $280 extra dollars, and when we look at the investment we are making in this trip otherwise, $280 doesn't seem like a lot. We are thrilled and I can't wait!!! :cool1: Thanks again to all posters on this thread.

Ok..I have been reading about the restaurants at CSR. Is the Pepper Market a quick service? Do they inculde 10% for the tip at each visit? The Maya Grill would a table service? Can someone please explain this? Thanks.

Pepper Market is quick service. Maya Grill is table service.

Pepper Market adds 10% to all checks if you eat in. If you take the food to go, there is no 10% gratuity. We always took our food outside, which was, IMO, nicer anyway. You just ask for a To-Go check when you get there. (And I understand that the 10% is included in the dining plan anyway as an exception to the "no tips" since PM is a QS and most don't have tips.)

I think you just made my mind up. :cool1: We have been to Disney twice. The first trip we stayed at POP and the second trip All Star Movies. We are thinking about CSR because we too have two kids and the Value resorts seem to be getting a little tight.:rotfl2: The only thing I worry about with CSR is that I keep reading how BIG it is. Can someone suggest a section of CSR to request? We don't spend alot of time in the room but I would like to be close to the main pool and a bus stop. Any suggestions??? THANK YOU!!!

Hey! A fellow Alabamian! We went to Disney World for the first time this past May and stayed at CSR. We absolutely LOVED it! Yes, it is a big resort, but there are parking spaces all the way around it. If you are driving your own car, you can simply drive if the walk is too far. We stayed in the Ranchos area, section 6A. It was VERY close to Bus stop #3 and a short walk to the main pool. It was pretty far from the main registration/food court area, but walked it a couple of times with no trouble. Another trick we found was to get on a bus at bus stop #3 and ride it to bus stop #1, which is the main entrance area. (Buses at CSR come in and stop at #2 first, then 3, 4, and 1 respectively.)

If you get a chance, click on the link in my signature to read our trip report from this past May. There are a TON of CSR pictures in the report.

I'm not trying to convince you or twist your arm....but CSR is really nice!

Hello Alabama friend... Thanks for responding to my message. I am going to read your entire review tonight when I get on my home computer. My computer at work will not let me view any of the pictures. :confused3 I want to truly enjoy the review so I must wait. I do have a dumb question :crazy2: Say we stay in a building close to bus stop #3, Do we have to ride a bus to the front of CSR to get on the "Park" buses or does bus stop #3 take you to the different parks? That may sound confusing but I don't want to waste alot of time getting on one bus to go to the front of CSR to then get on another bus to get to the different parks. Thank you for your help...:wave2:

Hey Buzz -- thanks SO much for those websites! DH and I are staying here March 1-8 and I had wanted to stay in either of the New Orleans places but when I went to book it I couldnt get a king bed in either of those places so I went with CSR. One of had heard there was a lot of walking with CSR but then my boss at work told me that with the NO places the buses were always the last stop.

I am absolutely amazed at the pictures and the amount of information youve given!! Thanks SO much and I am certainly forwarding these links to DH!

Oh - Im from CT too :) Cant wait to get out of this weather (though I honestly do love the winter!)
Me too...too much snow this year already.

CSR is a large resort but if you won't be going to the main building upon return from the parks, the bus stops are located in each section to cut down on walking. Its not bigger than POR.

Hahaha...I understand. Not confusing at all! Here's how it works: different buses come along for different destinations. One may be for Animal Kingdom, the next for Epcot, the next for Magic Kingdom, the next for Typhoon Lagoon/Downtown Disney, etc. You simply wait for the bus that is going to where you want to go. If you only want to go to the front of CSR, you can catch any of the buses that are going to the PARKS. (I think the Downtown Disney bus is different, but I know the ones to the parks are the same.)

I may be confusing you even more, but let me give you an example. Let's say you want to go to Epcot, but you want to go to the Pepper Market for breakfast first. If you were staying in the Ranchos area, you could jump on a bus at stop #3 heading to ANY of the parks, and get off at bus stop #1, which puts you right at the main entrance, very near where the food court is located. After breakfast, you would go back to bus stop #1 and wait for the next bus headed to Epcot. Does that make sense?

We had read how big CSR was and we were a little intimidated at first. However, prior to our trip, my family and I started walking a few miles everyday to get in good walking shape. Our room was about as far away from the registration area as humanly possible, and yet we still found the walk to the room very tolerable.....maybe 1/3 of a mile or so. And the resort is SOOO beautiful, you don't mind the walk!

Also, if you get a chance, check out Buzz's web site and the rest of this thread. There are some great photos and information on these boards!

Well I just got back from CSR last week and mentioned that it was ok but I wasn't thrilled due to the room location. Well I'm giving it another shot for spring break in March since it was the only mod with an AP rate available.
This time we will have more resort time and I want to give it another chance.
I'm excited!!

Be sure you put in a location request on your reservation and then ask again, nicely :goodvibes at check-in. I know they try to be accommodating as possible. Glad you are giving it another shot--it is our favorite.

I've always wanted to stay at CSR but for one reason or another, it has never worked out for us. After buying DVC, I assumed that I was out of luck for sure. But it turns out that our upcoming 6 day trip doesn't have our DVC resort available for all of the days so I jumped at the chance to stay at CSR for half the trip using an AP discount. :cool1:

Just a few questions,

Any resort tips for a family with 3 young boys (ages 2,3 & 5)?

I'm going to request a renovated room so I'm wondering which sections have been reno'd so far?

Thanks, Christina :)

So is Casitas 2 the best section?? I want to board the bus first.

Casitas 4 and 5 are closest to Bus Stop 2 which is the first bus pick up around the property.

Although rooms have been renovated, they are no where near to being done (the rehab will not be completed until October 09). Just remember it will be a request and not a guarantee. Cabanas 9B part of Cabanas 9A, 4th floors of Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are done with rehab. They are working on one of the other Cabanas 8A or 8B (I don't recall for sure which one).
