My daughter has to take an item from our home to school tomorrow that represents you and tell how it relates to science. So she wants to take one of her stuffed Mickey's because she is all about Disney.
My brain is freezing on helping her relate Disney to science. Here is what I have come up with so far to help her:
Walt Disney invented animatronics.
Disney World's theme park EPCOT has various attractions that are dedicated to studying the Land and the Seas.

Can anyone give me a hand here?

Does she have a stuffed figment?
Still disney but more directed to science and inovantion?
people start with an idea and the process to proce or dis prove it?

Tigger- a refrence to Randy Paush and his inovation in computer science?

Just brain storming here :flower3:

disney fireworks = chemistry

disney environmentality

disney wildlife = life science

just some ideas

thanks, these help! Any other suggestions out there?

How about the development of the Multiplane Camera? Although not strictly invented by Disney (the company), it was more or less perfected by them, and the first one was invented by Ub Iwerks (between stints at Disney).

I think you might be able to say something to the monorail system... how they took the tires and made them run along each side of the track and how the engineered this new transportation in the sky. As well as almost all of there "hubs" are a Marvel in how they were built.

so their engineering ability!?

I'd go from the angle that Mickey Mouse is an iconic center of the development of film/animation technology. It's pretty easy to see the time line of progress from the old black and whites (e.g. Steamboat Willie) to the later color cartoons (plenty to pick), to some of the most recent Computer-generated (e.g. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse)

How old is your Daughter?

The whole land development of WDW. Swamp land to Magic Kingdom.

There is soooo much science. Where to start might depend on how old she is and what she loves most about Disney...Movies...Parks...

Wasn't the Matterhorn in Disneyland the first roller coaster to run on magnets rather than having wheels wrapped around a track?

Thanks for your help everyone. She went off to school with her little stuffed Steamboat Willy Mickey Mouse armed with all her science information and she was the only kid who remembered the assignment! That's 7th graders for you.
