Brain cramp on a Tuesday that feels like a Monday

I need more coffee, because I should know this off the top of my head...

If I borrow points from my 2018 use year for a vacation in my 2017 use year, they now become 2017 points, with the proviso that if I have to cancel my vacation, I can't then bank them back into 2018 - am I right on this?

- direct purchase
- August use year
- March (proposed) trip
