(First, of course, Simba is very handsome.)

Excellent!:teeth:

Gayle, I'm so sorry about your Precious! Black cats have special personalities, don't they? When we found Nessa, she was so tiny, she used a tissue box as her litter box!

We adopted our adorable Moonbeam a little over two weeks ago from a local shelter. She is a young adult (her exact age is not known) tuxedo smoke kitty (black with white undercoat) and I just ADORE her. :) My DD loves her to death as well.

The first week she was home she was sick with a cold and very mellow but now that she is well she has become our frisky, playful kitty. She's still a total sweetheart...loves to purr and knead...but now she also amuses us by chasing her tail and playing with teases. I call her "puppy cat" because she follows me around all day and wags her tail whenever you're talking about her...even if she's asleep!

I really need to take some digital pics of her and post them! :)

I agree that black cats do have special personalities. Precious was 'my' cat..she tolerated my husband but only just. She was also fairly agressive and HATED everybody (well except our neighbor Janice who had no cats..only two rat dogs), attacking them on sight. We chalked this up to her being feral before we found her. It was her ferocity that, in the end, got her sent to the Rainbow Bridge. She was attacking everybody, myself included, for no reason at all, ferociously biting, clawing, hissing, spitting. It was awful. The vet we took her to said he could find no reason for her behavior and chalked it up to territorial agression. He said at that point it was either spend $$$$ on a therapist and drugs or put her down. We chose to put her down because at the time we didn't have money for drugs/therapy for her, though I would've gladly sold my soul to the devil to do those things for her. I loved her that much. But I think there was also a reason she went away and that was because we had Buttercup. She left so that Buttercup could come into our lives and every day I am thankful we adopted Butters. :)

Oh, Donna, they're all beautiful black kitties! :teeth:

Of course, I love Tycho, but my big black Wedge has a special place in my heart. He's so much more personable - he loves his Momma so much!

Hey, black cat owners - anyone scared of your cat(s)? My DH's grandmother will NOT walk around him - she thinks he's going to jinx her!

Your wedge looks so much like one of mine.

I have friends who are afraid of my cats, but they're afraid of all cats.

Beauty - Diamond looks a lot like our Bengal, Tigger. His spots are very similar.

Tigger is a pure-bred Bengal, which is 4 generations down from an Asian Wild Cat and gives him his leopard-like spots. Bengals are an awesome breed - very playful, but he loves to cuddle too. He's definitely a momma's boy. He likes when I hold him like a baby, and when I do that, he puts his paw on my face and licks my chin.

He loves to play fetch down our hallway, but he'll only bring back certain toys (there's one mouse that he loves most). And even though he is an aggressive cat (torments our other cat, Angel), he never bites and if you say "ouch" when he's playing with you, he stops chewing right away. He's about 1.5 years old.

Our other cat is Angel. She is a skittish Calico that is probably about 5 or 6 years old. She has this really weird vibrating thing that she does with her tail. We got her from a shelter and really don't know anything about her history. We assume she was abused, probably kicked and picked on by children, based on her behavior.

She's very sweet and wants very much to be loved, but she usually runs away just when you reach to pet her. When she wants attention, she'll stand up and tap you on the arm - it's really cute. She won't go anywhere near my step-DS.

She's kind of a useless cat, but we love her anyway. Tigger always wants to play with her, but she gets mad and hisses at him. It's a fun game for Tigger but not so much for Angel.

Ariel - 13 and fighting diabetes - has a Master's degree in Renaissance Literature.

Minerva - 8 and not too bright - can bench press 250 lbs.

Luna - almost 2 and adorable - has just started levitating; she can get almost 3 inches off the ground.

All three of them were rescue cats.

I don't have any pictures to post (actually, I can't figure out how to do that!), but I have a couple of fur babies and fin babies.

Symba is a Siamese/tabby mix who maintained all Siamese characteristics to include being extremely talkative. Especially at 4am  . Ugh!

Her sister/littermate was put down a few years ago due to a recurring bladder infection. The bout that made the decision occurred about the same time that DD 4.5 (then 6 months) was learning to crawl. She maintained tabby characteristics as far as how she looked but with siamese colors. Grey body with chocolate and black stripes and blue eyes. She also was very talkative, but very cuddly (purred a lot).

Other furbaby is a rott/retriever mix with all of the looks of a rott, but the hapy-go-lucky personality of a retirever.

Then there is the 20-gallon fish tank. None of the fish are named except the pair of long tailed rosy barbs. They are Mickey and Minnie thanks to DD!

I love all these pictures!

Wish I could figure out how to post one of our pet!

Gibson is an almost 2 year old Bichon Frise. Like Tammi's Siberian cats, these dogs are hypoallergenic, and even though they have a lot of long white fur (think of a powder puff with legs!) they don't shed at all. My oldest DS is extremely allergic to pet hair, so for years I resisted the pleas to get a dog.

My SIL's parents have two bichons and we had them come over for several long visits, to see how Matt would tolerate being around them....he had no problems at all! :) :)

Gibson is now the light of our lives, and very much like my 4th child! He's spoiled rotten, and flunked obedience school. But he's extremely good-natured and affectionate!

He also loves to swim, which I think is unusal for his breed. We have a backyard pool, and whenever we go swimming, he has an absolute fit if he is left inside in the family room. If he has the chance to go in the backyard, he immediately runs and jumps in the pool. Unfortunately, that means a 45 minute session with the blowdryer, as this breed's fur gets very matted if allowed to air dry.

When he's just come back from the groomers, he looks just like this:

When he gets out of the pool, he resembles a drowned rat!

Karen,

Tigger does look like my Diamond. Diamond actually came here from Finland when she was a baby. She was bought by a lady in Arkansas who shows these cats. Well my Diamond didn't want to be shown, she wanted to play and no matter hoe hard they tried to train her in showing, she would have none of it. So of course she was no good to the breeder and was given to me for the cost of having her spayed. She is sooooooo playful. If you get a shoe string she will follow you for hours....my son loves to make her follow him up and down the stairs. It is so funny! She is also probably the fastest of my cats. She and Cinders (the black and white girl) will literally FLY up the stairs playing..the two babies try to keep up but they aren't quite big enough yet. I am so in love with all my babies!

I'm owned by a 6 month old red Pomeranian.:) He's resting comfortably under my computer chair right now. He seems to think he can't let me out of his sight for a minute.;)

I've got a black flat-coated retriever named Maximilian...AKA Max...AKA Maxi. ;) And I have a black (with a white tummy) Lab/Boxer named Skippy who is 6 months old. He's the spirited one! I think I'll do my homework at the library tomorrow because I can't get it done with Skippy around!

Welp, I have Shelly the Killer turtle that has become quite passive. She used to rip the stomache out of fishes, but now play tag, and she is a CUTE mud turtle. Now he white., and now he HUGE too. then there is sucker the algee eater. He likes to suck on the rocks. I've all of them since 3rd grade besides Sucker.
