Here's the place to tell us all about those lovable members of your family, your pets (babies :flower: ). How many do you have? What are their names? When did they join the family? Any pics. Etc.

We have a hamster named Joey who's been with us about a year now. DS named him although I'm not sure where he came up with the name. :confused3 Joey loves carrots and hates our cats. ;)

Speaking of cats....we have two. Luxor and Rio, both named after hotels in Vegas. :goodvibes Luxor is all black except for a small white patch on his chest. Rio is orange and white. They came from the shelter at 2 months of age and have been with us since July of this year. We love em alot despite Luxor tearing up our toilet paper and Rio always eating the breakfast muffins!

Two gorgeous mutts, Vivi and Max. One cute little cat, Phill.

Vivi is the sweetest dog ever born. Max has an attitude, but is cute!

Phill is smarter than most humans. :earseek:

My oldest pet is at least 5 years old - she's a rather large white rabbit named Snowflake. We've had her for 4 years this coming Thanksgiving.

Next is my rather large black cat (with green eyes) Casey - he's 3 and will be 4 in March. Friends call him my mutant cat (he's 13.8 lbs. not fat, but tall).

Then we have Toby, my almost 2 year old Beagle. He's very rambunctious as most beagles are, but also very loveable. He's a 35 lb lap dog :lovestruc .

The latest additions are two Red Ear Slider turtles and two Apple snails.

It's a regular menagerie over here! I just may have to start charging admission.

We've got a two year old black lab named Maxine, a gray and black Tabby cat named Tigger, and an orange and white cat named Tony. Also 7 fish - two of which just had MANY babies in our aquarium and they are so cute. :teeth: :fish: All of our furbabies are rescues from our local no kill animal shelter and are truly the best thing we ever did. They give an immeasurable amount of love and joy. :goodvibes:

i have a 9 year old rottweiler, champ..he is the sweetest dog who still thinks hes a baby..he tries to climb up on my lap all the time!

I have a dog and a cat (thats them in my siggy). Jake is a golden retriever lab mix. She is 5 years old and a royal pain in the rear. When she has to go outside, she will run around the house and she gets VERY hyper. Sassy is my tabby baby. She is 11 years old and the sweetest thing you will ever meet. Her name fits her well (as the pic in my siggy reveals). She follows me around the house every morning while I am getting ready for school and meows until I pick her up. She has me trained very well, too. If I am out in the living room and she wants me, but is too lazy to go from my room all the way out to the living room (such a long walk, I know  ), she will meow. She gets louder and louder and louder until I get up and go get her and carry her out to me. Don't know what I would do without her though.
I used to have a alaskan malamute/husky mix named Nakita. She was the sweetest, most well behaved dog. Unfortunatly, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge 5 years ago...2 weeks after we got Jake.

I have two Scottish Terrier babies that I am rather obsessive over. Mac N. Tosh (aka Mac) is 10 and has been in our family since he was 15 weeks old. He is very wonderful and special to me. He is very compassionate and sometimes I feel he is my soul mate. We have a unique bond. Mac is very independent, but if I am sad or sick, he will not leave my side. Mac is always happy and loves people. Tipperty (aka Tipper) is our little Scottie princess that we adopted from the SPCA when her first Momma passed away. She is 8 and has been in the family for 4 years. She loves me more than anything and lights up when I enter a room. She is my special little lap dog. She will come to me, assume the Scottie pose (balance on hind legs) and then whine and grasp my hand with her paws. This lets me know that she wants me to hold her. It is cute since she is a little chubby--she looks like a weeble.

OMG your cat Tony looks just like my Rio! And your cat Tigger looks like a cat I used to have when DH and I first got married named Tiger. Awwww.They are so cute. I need some pics of my babies to post....

We have 2 dogs and 5 cats. Our oldest is Patch, who was 14 this past July. This is his story.

WHen DD was 4, we went to the pound to, maybe, get a dog. The pound had just had an outbreak of Parvo and had to put down all of the dogs but 2, an adult golden retriever and a 9 month old dalmatian.

The lady there brought the dalmatian out to meet us and DD fell in love. I thought he was ugly. His nose was 1/2 black and 1/2 pink, he had one pink eye and one black eye and very few spots. He was very calm and sweet though. Because he had had his 1st set of shots, the lady thought he would probably be okay so we took him home.

By the next day, he was very sick and was dripping blood from his rectum. Took him to the vet and sure enough, he had Parvo. The vet only gave him a 50/50 chance, but he managed to pull through.

After he recovered, we found out why he had been taken to the pound. This dog was absolutely wild. DH was working 3-11 so it was just DD and me at home. I could not handle this dog. He would run through the house, constantly play nipping at DD and me. One time, he ran into DD's legs and flipped her up in the air like a ragdoll. Most of the time, I kept him outside because I just couldn't do anything with him. I just kept telling DH, he's got to back. We can't do this.

Instead of returning him, though, we sent him to obedience school for 2 weeks. Turns out, he was pretty smart and passed with flying colors. When we got him back home, he was still wild, but now controllable most of the time. I went out and bought a super-shooter water gun and when he was totally out of control, would squirt him and he would settle down. It got to the point that all I had to say was, "I'll get the gun," and he'd sit right down.

He calmed down some when he was about 2, but even at 14, he's a little crazier than most. If we hadn't taken him, he would have been put down the next day when he got sick. That would have been very sad because he turned out to be a wonderful dog. He is incredibly loving and has the sweetest disposition. He even put up with 6 new family members after being the only one for over 9 years. We all love him dearly.

We have 2 cats, Cal, who is named after Cal Ripken and is an orange tabby, and Misty, who is a tortie. They are brother and sister and are 7 years old. Cal has had lots of medical problems and is on Prozac for a bladder issue (long story). He is a lovie. Misty is very sweet and loves her "mommy."

We also have Fred, who is a parakeet, he keeps the cats entertained.

Aladdin is our kitty (named by DD when she was just 8 years old, and he was a new kitten) He's been with us for 12 years now.

We had a cockatiel named Monet, but she died last summer. She was a sweetie. :sunny:

I have (or had...my mom has her now ;)) a Snoodle. :goodvibes :dog:

She is a 10 year old Pomeranian who thinks she's a person and HATES dogs! lol Her official AKC name is "Miss Dixie Doodle", but we just call her Snoodle.

One of her tricks she learned on her own was to sit infront of someone , stare at them, and flick her tongue at them with a peice of paper on it as if to say "If you don't give me a cookie (dog bone) I'll eat this trash!!" ;) If you ignore her while she's doing this , she'll make a low woof sound until you look at her shinanigans.. ;) She'll of course spit whatever is in her mouth out when you offer her a 'cookie.'

I have 2 cats and 2 dogs.

Cats- Sox is a black and white "tuxedo" cat and she is 14 years old. My mom and husband (boyfriend at the time) got her for me shortly after my aunt passed away in 1991. They saw an ad in the newspaper and had to go up on a mountain to get her. She was about 9 weeks old at the time and she took to me from the very start. She still only sleeps on my side of the bed. She does not like to be held but loves to lay in my lap and sleep on my head.

Bob (so named because he has no tail) is atleast part Maine Coon (he looks full Maine Coon though), showed up at our work one night in Feb of 2002 and suckered my husband into bringing him home. He jumped on my husband's shoulders and laid down. 7 hours later the cat is still there in the freezing cold as my husband is leaving he tells the cat "If you want to go home with me come on". He says the cat followed him, he opened the passenger door to his truck and the cat jumped in and sat down. My husband swears this is exactly how it happened.....Bob is absolutely the sweetest, most affectionate cat I've ever seen. He quickly became my little sweetie and I'm just crazy about him.

Dogs-

Snickers is a mutt that came from the local shelter when he was 8 weeks old. He was my 20th birthday gift to myself, he will be 13 years old next month. He's a short, long and has red fur. He was wild as a puppy but turned out to be a really wonderful dog. He quickly learned the word "walk" and would get so excited you couldn't stand him while you got his leash and everything so we started spelling "w-a-l-k" and he caught onto that too, he just loves going for a walk.

Jack-is a rough collie (picture Lassie). My MIL and I got him for my husband as a Christmas gift in 1997, he was 13 weeks old when we brought him home. We already had 2 dogs at this point so my husband wasn't thrilled with having a third. Jack was a holy terror until he was about 2 years old, he chewed everything, destroyed couches, remote controls and the most expensive piece- my mom's false teeth! He is a wonderful, sweet and loving dog who is truly a light of my life. He is "the" dog I longed for all of my life and he has a special place in my heart. So my husband calls him the Christmas present for myself. He is a huge dog, about 115lbs now, not fat just very large.

We lost a dog, Shasta, a chow/lab mix last year, she was 10 years old, and a cat, Patches who was about 13 years old.

I have a 7 month old black lab that was sprung on me by my husband the day before halloween this year. No warning, no call nothing. Now I don't know what I would do without Dexter the love of my life. I think he has a better personality then anyone I know. I just bought him a bone today he ran off to his bone, forgot he didn't say thank you to me and ran back and gave me a big fat kiss then ran back to his bone. He is now sleeping with the bone right next to him. I can't spend 3.99 on my kids and get that kind of love. He is incredibly mellow and affectionate and only gets a bit rowdy for maybe 10 minutes a day. You can tell him to settle down or just play fetch with him for a bit and then he sits down and lets you pet him again. He is just great. I used to read these boards and think the pet lovers were a bit over the top now I have joined ranks with them LOL. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Great idea!! I have 3 cats: 19 years (Buffy, aka ****ah or Turkey Butt), 7 years (Katie, aka TT or Darth Tater) and 4 months (Mara, aka P Kitty.) All are Persians and all have such unique personalities. Buffy is a lover, Katie is a thinker, and Mara is a jacka$$. But man do I love them girls!

Then I have a dog who is 1 and a half years old. I never thought I could love a dog, but I love her with all my heart. She is my "soul-dog." Hence my disboard name, Momtocutestdogever. I know I may be a bit biased, but I really do think she is the cutest dog ever. Her name is Mia (aka Pooperoni or Rone.) She is my little punkin' and I don't know what I would do without her!

I'm glad to hear he has won your heart. I read your thread when you first got him and you weren't quite sure what to make of having him sprung on you.

With the OP being a mom of twins herself, I thought she would appreciate this picture. My twins were 5 weeks old here with our brother/sister pair of dogs who were the best in the world. (The dogs both passed last year :sad1: ).

These are my twins now at the ripe old age of 8 :love2: along with our lovable but  young dog named Liesl who absolutely adores her little charges.

This is a fun thread, I love reading about kids and animals! :goodvibes

We have a 4 year old chocolate lab named Jake. :dog: He is my best buddy and follows me every where I go. We have a fish (we never named him b/c frankly I thought he'd die right away like all of our other fish, but he's still kickin'!). I call him Jake jr. or Fishie. I've actually grown rather fond of him (or her? :confused3 ) We lost our first baby, our cocker spaniel named Putter, a couple of years ago. I still have her tags, collar & ashes on a shelf in our family room.

We just adopted our sweet Nikki last Saturday. She's such a good girl--the best dog we've ever had.

She's taken over our grandsons room. His bed seems to have become "her" place. She's moved all of her toys, balls, and bones to the middle of the bed! She was carrying around one of his stuffed animals today, so we went to Petco and bought her a baby of her own. It's in the middle of the bed, along with everything else!

She loves going outside--especially when the six month old Great Dane in the next yard is outside. They run back and forth along the fence and show off for each other. They're really cute together and they get along wonderfully.

I was raking leaves today. She ran very fast around the yard and landed smack dab in the middle of my leaf pile scattering them everywhere! She hunkered down in the pile and looked at me as if to say "That was fun! Let's do it again!" I swear she was smiling!

I absolutely adore this dog!
