Bra Shopping is awful

I finally found bras that work, and was satisfied with them.

I got an email last night saying that they were having the semi-annual sale, so I went in to buy a few more. The sales associate kept insisting I was a heck of a lot bigger than I was! So I gave in, and tried on some bras. The first one was massive, then, she brought on more to try, but I couldn't keep a straight face. It was a bra with a MASSIVE red bow in the middle. Who would wear that?! It also itched.

I ended up staying with the size I was, but had to order because they were out. So frustrating.

I hate bra shopping too. When I find a size and style that works, I buy as many as I can afford, 5-6 at a time, just so I don't have to go through it again soon.

Yup, I bought 5 back in January, and decided to purchase 4 more in the same style.I liked how they fit, so I'm not sure why she was so insistent I was a different size.

Same here. I also try to find them online and just order the same ones when I need new ones.

I agree. It took my friend 3 years to find the ONE. I finally refused to go shopping with her. She was giving me a headache! Sadly I have found the best bras, but they are way out of my budget.

It isn't pleasant either when you're nursing. I never feel like the nursing bras aren't supportive. I suppose I need to go get resized again. The girls who do it, usually do a nice job. But still, not a totally pleasant experience. :)

Just a suggestion--Nordstrom's website has a really nice bra selection, If you know your size, you don't have to put up with annoying salespeople.

There's a reason 80% of women wear the wrong bra size. It is so tedious to find the right size. I work in a lingerie department and a women came in yesterday looking for her go to bra, and I had to tell her they stopped making that style. She just had a defeated look on her face. It took close to an hour to find a replacement she was satisfied with, but she said it wasn't as good as her old style.

As for ridiculous bras, a bra came into work that was a push-up, but the push-up part was shaped like lips. It took a while to stop laughing with that one.

I have been told by the bra fitters that a woman's bra size can fluctuate even without visible weight loss or gain and that is why you should be refitted periodically. Also that way they can distract you from the fact that they no longer carry your favorite style.

The first few months of nursing I usually wear a tank top with a built in bra and stay home as much as I can.

I hate it too! I've known for a while that I'm not wearing the correct size so I went to actually get measured. At the first store, I couldn't find an associate to help me....at the 2nd store, she measured me with the wrong size bra on, over my shirt, and only took one measurement all the way around. Then she told me I was a cup size smaller than what I'm currently wearing and I went in knowing that I needed to go bigger, not smaller!

So I found instructions online to measure myself, did it three times just to be sure. Couldn't find a bra in the new size in any store so I ordered it online...got it and it was ENORMOUS! My sister told me to just "go try some on" but the problem is that I don't know where to start! Obviously what I thought was the correct size is wrong but when I measure, I'm not getting the correct size either. It's so frustrating! Not to mention that bras aren't cheap!! :faint:

:thumbsup2 Exactly the way I do it! ::yes:: I never change the style unless they discontinue it - guarantees a fit, and I'll like it without trying them on each time.

Thank you for the chuckle! :rotfl: It's like the beginning of a bar joke.

I hate bra shopping and everything I ever like gets discontinued!

Jockey is getting ready to introduce completely different sizing and way more options. May be promising.

HATE IT. I'm well endowed. Like stupid. I didn't even know they MADE bras in the size I require (after I was fitted two years ago and found i had been wearing the wrong size). Narrow band...HUGE cup. I feel like a freak. Can't shop in lingerie stores or Walmart. Can only shop at some department stores or Fredericks of Hollywood. Can't order online...have to try it on first. It seems the only bras they make for people like me are FULL coverage...so apparently I don't get to be sexy or wear anything with a low neckline. I hate it.

I hate bra/panty shopping so much I don't do it. I look like a homeless person under my clothes!! I can literally have a 100 outfit on with an over stretched, holes in the seam bra on underneath!:rotfl:

And taking my two teenage daughters out to find under clothes....forget about it! One would wear a sports bra under every outfit including dresses while the other wants to wear a leopard print push up under a white shirt! Aye, ye,ye! I need an IV bag with margaritas in it for that shopping trip!:faint:

If ouhavevan " intimacy" store near you, it's pricy but so worth it. They measure you and help you find a bra. The bra was 90 bucks but I bought some more on Amazon, best bra ever. I also have a small band big cup.

I have a large chest so it doesn't fully support me. Argh! It is worth it though.

i went to Victoria's Secret to be measured and i KNEW she measured me incorrectly. i bought the size she recommended, and sure enough, the band stretched out immediately. i went back, refused their offer to size me and bought what i think i am (i've recently lost a lot of weight). i found one that fits really great. i really need to get back there with their current sale, but i haven't had a chance.
