Anyone know anything about Boyds Bears??

I picked up a bunny rabbit from a tag sale last year and it has the Boyds Bears tag on it, but I can't find it on any of the Boyds lists (active or retired).

There is no name on the tags that I can see...The tag says Boyds Bears The Artisan Series, and it's copyrighted 1995, but again, I can't find this particular item on any of the Boyds' lists.

I'm starting to wonder if it's just random stuffed bunny with a similar look, and someone just put the Boyds tags on it....I was going to sell it on Ebay but I don't want to get ripped off it's worth a ton of money and I don't want to sell something as a Boyds if it's not.

If you think you might be able to help, please let me know and I'll send over some pictures!

Thanks!!!

Can you post a picture of your bunny? I sold them in my store from the moment they came out and still have many of the catalogs with pictures of most of them. I'd be happy to see if I can find yours in one of my books.

my mother use to collect them and has them everywhere around the house! All I really know about them is that my mother would go to a Hallmark store and buy one....

No, I saw that one yesterday when I was searching and it's not the one I have.

here is a search to help you... i know a few people who collect them but its not really my thing although I do have a few... http://www.boydsstuff.com/archivesearch.cfm
I tried looking for it with that search function and couldn't find it. That's why I'm starting to wonder if it's legit

Yes....billions and billions and billions!! ;)
Many times I'd order many more rabbits than bears. Boyds probably has made hundreds of style of rabbits. Also many Boyds aren't listed anywhere for some reason. You almost have to have sold them and have the order sheets to know which ones were ever made. Even the catalogs didn't show all the ones available.
Visiting the Boyds table at market was always fun. VERY disorganized in what bears they had available......I sold bears no one has ever seen or heard about but just because they were showing them at market, I got in on ordering them.

OP, did the shop owner ever hand write the name of the bear on the tag? That's what we were supposed to do but many folks didn't do it.

what does she look like? I have over 200 Boyds, I also have the books somewhere...

Try searching Boyds Bear Hare. Aren't these the bears with the metal button??? Isn't that the best way to tell if it's a Boyds?

I actually picked this one up at a tag sale. There is no name on the tags at all.

I did try searching for rabbit and hare as well as bunny and found a ton, but none were the one I have. I'll post pictures tonight. She's about 15", a light tan with a blue headband tied in a bow. She's wearing a blue dress with a tannish color bib.

Thank you all so much for your willingness to try and help me out!

OK here is the picture:

Thanks again, everyone!

Hmm...that looks very similar to Mimosa, but the color of the dress is different. Mimosa's dress is more of a brown plaid than blue, but the design is exactly the same.

ETA: Ok I found a couple different names for this particular hare. I found a listing on ebay where she's under the name "Daisey." I also found a listing that refers to her as "Amarretto." One says she's part of the Folk Art series, another says she's part of the Artisan series.

I found the same thing with Mimosa...same hare, different names/series. Some sites list her as Mimosa with the Folk Art series. Others list her as Frangelica with the Artisan series. I'm not a BB collector, so I'm not sure if they just released identical hares under different names/series, or if there's some mix up going on.

From what little I could find, it seems the release years for all the names were either 1995 or 1996 (a couple sites differ on the exact year).

Oh she's a cutie alright and yes, she's also a Boyd's bear. I'm sure the hang tag is accurate for the bear but they made so many of this type/version I really don't know if you'll find out her name.
If you were wondering about collectibility, sadly she's not really worth more than a few dollars, much less than she was originally purchased for. It's the older (the first 1-3 years the company was in business) that are the highly collectible/high priced valued animals.
That said I still think Boyd's Bunnies and Bears are fun to collect. Each critter does seem to have a personality all it's own.......and they do bring a smile to my face every time I see one, especially if it's one I haven't seen before!

Display her and love her...she's full of charm!

(I re-read your first post and see you might list the bunny on Ebay. You never know what you might get for her so it's definitely worth a shot. When I say something like this isn't really valuable, I guess that really depends on what you consider valuable. You could very well get $20-30+ for it but most likely NOT going to be the amounts I've sold some for.....$500-1000. Those prices are for animals that came out early on in the company's history.)

I used to collect these when I was little and recently took some down from my attic for DD to play with.
I have one that kind of looks like corduroy with the green overalls
and my fav....JP HUtton III, he's so cute! He's the only one I could remember his name, I purchased glasses for him too. hahaha.
ah, to be young again.
I have more up there, but if i took them all down we'd be in trouble.

Thank you both for your replies! I definitely was not looking to get rich off her, just looking to make a few bucks for our October Disney trip...and maybe make someone else's day in the process! Thanks again!

I have that one. I believe she is a hare and not a rabbit.. let me see if I can find her..

The corduroy with green overalls MIGHT be one of the more valuable ones. I sold an early Bailey bunny wearing blue corduroy overalls for $700 just two years ago and I think they're still worth a bit...to someone! Have fun digging them all out. LOL
