Boy, am I glad I asked!

I make our ADRs tomorrow and finally was able to pin dh down for a few minutes to get his opinion on some stuff. Every time I've asked him what he wanted to do for TS, take a look at the menus, he's told me that whatever I planned was fine. I caught him at a weak moment this evening and got him to look at some menus and decide between some places. Boy, am I glad I did! I would have totally gotten it wrong. He picked Teppan Edo over Le Cellier :confused3, Planet Hollywood over Raglan Road or Wolfgang Puck Cafe, and Liberty Tree over Plaza. Our other two planned meals are character meals. I'll get over the shock eventually. Just looking forward to finally getting to the World. But boy, was all that research :surfweb: a waste of time, or what :headache:

Glad your husband gave some of his opinions. Now you don't have to listen to him whine if he doesn't like them.

Personally, I would skip PH and eat elsewhere for your TS. Aren't the PH the same everywhere? WGP has the Express that is a CS meal.

That's why I don't ask DH's opinion! :rotfl:

Well, that's not entirely true, but he lets me make all the plans - including the restaurants. On occassion, if I'm trying to decide on someplace new - I'll have him look at the menu and ask him 'Would you like something here?'. To which the answe is always yes because he eats just about anything! :)

I think I'd go crazy if I was married to someone who actually wanted to change my (gasp) plans!

You are a kind spouse to take not just a couple, but all of his requests into account.

Good luck with your ADR's.

Oh, I totally get it! My DH is impossible to get input from, then when we get there, he says.."Are we eating at Tony's"? "Are we eating at that Japanese place"?...drives me nuts..

My DH and I started out with a clear division of travel planning - I did all the planning, I'd ask his input knowing I wouldn't get any, and I'd go ahead with whatever looked best to me. But after a few Disney trips, the man is starting to develop opinions! Now all of a sudden it is "We have to go back to the restaurant with the lobster" and "How about a dinner at AKL?" and "We need more waterpark time this year". :scared1: :scared1: :rotfl: This trip, he had a hand in planning one day (out of 10) and 2 meals (out of 17 ADRs)! :lmao:

I can understand your frustration! :rotfl2:You have been trying to get him some choice in what he eats, but of course, he never made the time to actually look over the choices. :eek:So, you like a great planner and Diser, spent hours, upon hours reading the reviews and menues :surfweb:trying to pick restaurants that have good reviews and would be appealing to the family!

Then when you have made your choices and are: about to make your ADRs, after you have made your ADRs, or you are at WDW, he decides to share his opinions and wishes!

Of course, you being the planner that wants to make it the best vacation for everyone, including your hubby, go into frantic mode :scared1:and scramble to rework your plans! :scared1:

My DH and I went in 1993 by ourselves (before kids) and ate at San Angel Inn. It had a great atmosphere and good food. For our first family kids in 2005, we planned to eat there again but did not make it to our scheduled ADR (we did cancelled it after we realized we would not make it) and could not get another one. When I started planning for this summer's trip (only our second family trip) my DH's only request was that we eat at San Angel Inn. So, I have reluntantly booked us there twice on the trip, even though the overwhelming majority of reviews are bad. I scheduled it twice in our trip, once early on and once later in case we miss the first ADR. I will definitely cancel the second one once we eat there early in the week. I just hate wasting an ADR on a restaurant that is most likely going to be a bad experience, but to make my DH I am planning the meal and will keep a positive outlook on it. I have not shared the bad reviews with him, nor do I intend to since he reluntantly gave in to going on this trip in the first place. Unfortunately, he is not in love with WDW like I am. :sad1: With a little pixie dust :wizard: the food and service will be better than I anticipate.

I always make it a point to cancel any ADRs that I will not use. :thumbsup2 I know how hard they are to get and want to make sure someone else has the opportunity to get one.

I feel your pain!!

My DH is the same way.

I have been trying to talk to him about 14 days worth of ADR's!

Do you think he wants to stop watching Ghost Hunters or Deadliest Catch to pay attention?!

I try to talk to him and it goes in one ear and out the other.

"I don't care where we eat. You figure it out. You know what I like & don't like."

Then all of the sudden, he decides he wants to know where we're eating. I tell him the plan, and of course, now he has an opinion!!

So next time I will make him sit down with me and work it out ahead of time!!

And once it's done, it's done!

At least your kids aren't getting in on the act. To keep the peace I had to let my DS (13) who is a foodie help choose where to go. :rolleyes1. Most of the places he picked were good but man oh man the drama when I wanted LeCellier instead of Chefs.

DH was very easy about the whole thing and only got in on the act in one way - he wanted BBQ at least once on our vacation he didn't care where we had it or whether it was CS or TS so I as even able to give him choices WCC or Flame Tree.:thumbsup2

Well, ADRs are done. Did change LTT from dinner to lunch after the res was made. Couldn't get Teppan Edo as a dinner, but no biggie. We'll walk off the meal the rest of the day. Don't know what I'll do for dinner on 9/23. Couldn't get a TS in Epcot for dinnertime (unless I wanted to wait until late). Hope some of the CS places will still be open when we head over to evening EMH at Epcot after spending the day at DHS.

For 9/23 did you check on the YC/BC and BWI resort restaurants? Take the DHS boat to the resort for your ADR (It's a really pleasant ride). The YC/BC are then only a 5 minute walk from Epcot's IG and the BWI isn't much further. Also both resort complexes have restaurants (Beaches & Cream, ESPN, etc.) that don't take ADRs so even if you can't get an ADR you could get on the waiting list.

My dh also took very little interest in ADR ahead of time. He wanted Boma and said everything else was up to me. We did decide we didn't want any other buffets and we wouldn't do any character dinners this trip. So we are leaving on Friday (yes 3 days away) and last night he asks to see the ADR list and starts asking about changes.

He changed his mind about character dinners and wants to try to do Crystal Palace on Friday (our arrival night). So I get on the computer and find that's not available. So what out Chef Mickey's he asks? You get the idea. This went on for about an hour as he kept trying different things and I couldn't get anything.:headache:

I'll admit I wasn't feeling very magical as I told him that 3 months ago this input would have been helpful.

Thanks so much! I didn't even think of looking at the resorts around Epcot. :thumbsup2

When I ask my husband for his opinion on WDW restaurants, usually his only question is: "are we going to Pecos Bill's?" When I say, "yes", he responds "then everything is fine." I mean, really? That's his one request? Fine by me.

Well, he usually also wants to make sure we're going to Boma, but this time I told him ahead of time that we're doing Jiko (since we've never done it, we always do Boma) so that there wouldn't have to be any discussion.

I would question his choice of PH though. I agree with the previous poster, there are PHs all over and they're all the same. Although, If he's not 'into' British type food then Raglan Road might not be his cup of tea. I'm not sure what he has against WGP, but it is 'fancier' which he may just not be in the mood for while at Disney. If he really wants a 'burger and fries' kind of dinner, why not show him the menu for T-Rex? That's going to have theming that you can't find anywhere else. Not to mention the cotton candy martinis (of course, these may not be for everyone either).

Is T-Rex on DDP? If not, it's a no go. Also, we don't have PH where we are, and are going with a 6 yo and 17 yo--right up the teen's alley. Although T-Rex would be a great choice if it were on the plan.

I asked my husband where he wanted and he said Le Cellier (we haven't been back there since our honeymoon.. 12 years ago!) - ok, deal.. going there for our anniversary!!

And then the other one he picked to repeat is BOMA which we have done, but all loved and I had no problem repeating it!

I added in a few repeats (character meals for the kids, etc) and he was fine with that.

Really - my DH is just very happy that I do all the ADR making etc and get it done. Bless his heart but that is just not up his alley!!!

T-Rex is not on the DDP.

If you don't have a PH then go try it. I just had read that they are all the same so I wouldn't waste a dining credit if you have been before.

WGP Express has had a lot of good reviews. It's only a CS, so I am going to try it this year. Might stop in at PH to use up the $15 voucher on a snack.

LOL! Seriously! If I left it up to him, we'd have free dining with no ADRs and no place to eat every night of our stay. Truly though, I'm glad he did tell me his druthers. His choices are probably better for the kids, too. If we go to the World for our 25th anniv next year, we'll hit some of the more upscale, unique places since it will just be the two of us. :lovestruc

I've looked at some of the T-Rex postings and it would be great...our 6 yo son would absolutely love it. My heart was set on WGP Express...or Cafe.......maybe next year.

You're right. It's not on the plan. I'm sure you'll have a great time at PH, especially if you've never really been. It IS different than Normal restaurants. :thumbsup2

I think we are going to do T-rex just for dessert on our arrival night. Any one have any recommendations?
