I watched this earlier this week, have heard some of the controversy and wanted to see it for myself. I'm not an NRA fan, would never own a gun but grew up with them and know that not every one that owns one is a wacko. I'm pretty much in the middle politically really depends on the issue.

This just seemed like more of a propaganda exercise than a true search for facts or reason behind the issues facing our society in relationship to guns / violence.

As best as I can tell the issues he attributes to contributing to Columbine was that a major company in the area produced weapons and the media.

The media seemed to be a bad guy in most of it, can't really understand that bent since much of the film was very journalistic and not in a good way.

The NRA is of course also to blame, Heston most of all. Found a
website that gives a true time line of things that happened and how some of the sound bites were altered for the film.

The clear culprit in the MI death of a little girl was the back to work laws that forced his mom to work 2 jobs to support her family. I wondered how someone who worked 2 jobs couldn't pay the rent and was forced to move in with relatives where her son found a gun to take to school. There are several links on the website above that do indeed tell a much different story.

I won't be bothering to see another one of his films, I don't mind a different point of view and enjoy seeing things presented even with a bias but this was just too much bias for me.

Do most believe that the media, NRA, weapons industry and welfare reform are to blame for the violence in today's youth? I just don't think it's that pat or such an easy answer.

I thought the movie made some interesting points, but it seemed to meander around a lot.

I can't really comment since I refuse to watch ANYTHING made by Michael Moore.

Quite frankly, I think it's ridiculous that he gets the media attention that he does.

I watched about 10 - 15 minutes of it (the part where MM went into the bedroom of Terry Nicoles brother to see the 44 magnum he kept under his pillow) but had to stop because I was out of duct tape and felt like me head would explode if I watched on more minute of it.

So I went back to watching Sponge Bob.

Huh? The clear culprit was a back to work law and not the person who pulled the trigger or the person who didn't properly lock the gun?

Maybe I don't have a clear understanding of the circumstances of the events. Care to fill in the blanks?

I believe janette was referring to the point MM was trying to make in the movie. JMHO

Yes, I was reflecting on MM view not mine. The mom had a drug problem and was staying at a known crack house where they liked to show off their guns. The person who owned the gun was convicted and the mom has lost permanent custody of 2 of her kids one of them the shooter. This is/was not a reflection of the back to work law, it's about a parent making very poor choices and a kid acting on what he was surrounded by.
