I don't know of a woodworking shop on Newboro. We don't get there too often. Do you remember going through Jones Locks/Jones Falls? or Chaffey's Lock? We are very close to Chaffey's and we go to Jones Falls often for picnics. They have a working blacksmiths shop there and people in period costumes walking around. Its a lot of fun for the kids.

Sounds really nice!
I remember paddling through and the water lifting us (would we have gone up or down?) at both locks and the fact tht one year we had to portage all our geer and canoes except one as the Lock Master insisted all boats in the lock be registered but in New York only boats with motors needed registration. I think we might have eaten lunch if the time was right but I sure could not draw you a picture.
.
The woodworker was probably in his 60s or older when we were there in the 1960s so all evidence is likely gone now. 40 years changes a lot.
.
See you soon!

I notice on the email that they make a point to say no shorts or jeans at dinner. So I guess jean shorts would be out of the question...:lmao::rotfl:

Originally this post was a rant over the inconsistancy of Disney's communications when it come to dress. I have instead decided just to say....

GOOD MORNING!

UGH! This is one of the things that drives me NUTS about Disney. You can ask the same question 3 times and the answer will change with the time of the day. Anyone remember when I called the CC line and was told jeans were just fine at dinner? For the love...I just want to know how to pack.

Ok, rant over. *sigh* :sad2:

Pack Everthing or Nothing :surfweb:

I think it depends on if the big group photo is before or after the lunch. Because if we're going out to the basketball courts like Kristi suggested then we wouldn't want to do the group photo and then make everyone wait why we ran up to do another photo before the award/secret mickey reveal. If both photos are done after lunch then after the group photo sounds good to me.

That's my 2 cents :rolleyes1

I just want to point out that the basketball court is flat and not very good for a large group photo. People will get lost after the second row. Good places for large groups to be photographed have some sort of incline ... such as steps. The best outdoor venue on the Magic is the stage at the Goofy Pool. It also gives you the best natural light. The most used indoor place is the atrium with Mickey. I prefer the stage area for the light. :thumbsup2

Only my 2 cents :flower3:

As for the scrapbooking - I will be showing DIGITAL scrapbooking - no need to bring anything with you - several people had asked about digital scrapbooking and I volunteered to show how I do it and what I use and how easy it can be!

Krisann

Do you use Photoshop CS4, Photoshop Elements or something else entirely? :surfweb:

I wanted to know if anyone else has worked with Shutters before on a group photo, so we would know how to go about getting it done (and hoping that person would volunteer).

If left to me, I would be on the ship before anything was done, so I could talk to Shutters personnel face-to-face. I have much better success this way than dealing with anything online or on the phone.

I suppose this might surprise some of you. :goodvibes

If we are concerned about someone taking the photo I will have my Canon DSLR with me. I will also bring my tripod and unless the ship is really rocking I can set up the shot then use the timer. I also have a remote control but I haven't used that before but the timer works great. After the shot I can either give out the file or post it on my Photobucket account.

Hello everyone:) I am cruising on EBTA April 10th:rotfl: Just trying to figure out how to meet people, get involved with activities (especially secret mickey) get lanyards..Can anyone help?

You're in the right place. :thumbsup2 Just go back and read all the posts from this thread and the three before it then you will know EVERYTHING! :wizard:

JUST KIDDING! :lmao:

Welcome aboard! This is a fun group and you can read some but just ask anything and someone will answer.

This is a huge help- thank you! I didn't know that you could go in self-guided - that is great news. Did they list the hours anywhere?

Sorry, I don't know the hours of operation for the WWII tunnels as we are planning to go mid-afternoon. I'm sure if you ask your tour guide/operator, they would know. Good luck!

Called DCL CC line just before they closed tonight. I needed some intel.

Are we scheduled to have special fireworks in Barcelona (I need to know whether or not to plan on Magical Fountains). DCL: Only fireworks scheduled for the TA is on Night 9, Funchal (Madeira), Pirate Night. Drats, I really was looking forward to a fireworks extravaganza - but this isn't the first arrival of DCL in Europe.

What movies are showing? Here's the current listing (which could change before we head out to sea):

The Proposal
G-Force
The Surrogate
Old Dogs
The Princess & the Frog
When in Rome
Up in 3D
Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D
Christmas Carol in 3D
Alice in Wonderland in 3D

Thanks for the intel on both fireworks and the currently scheduled onboard movies! :thumbsup2

Weighed mine today .... 42 pounds! :woohoo:

Well by the time I finished with redistributing between the two suitcases it was a lot better. I still don't have a lot of clothes packed but at least the items in the suitcases look like like I put them there on purpose. :) Baby steps. I haven't even tried to weight them yet. I am afraid :scared1:

How funny, Lynne. I share your feelings completely, and you're the only other one I've ever come up against that shares my reticence. It is one (of the very few) advantages of having kids. My kids have been making phone calls for me for years. They roll their eyes, but they do it.

I'm usually not a timid person, and I like to think of myself as adequately competent, but I sure hate to phone official-type people!

Ok this is really funny because my husaband doesn't understand why I refuse to make certain phone calls - especially to people I do not know - but I will talk to strangers in the grocery store line (and everywhere else) but I have this thing about calling companies on the phone - just don't like it - thought I was weird - but guess I am in very good company :)

Do you use Photoshop CS4, Photoshop Elements or something else entirely? :surfweb:

Something totally different. I use a software program from Creative Memories. It allows you to be as creative as you want OR if you are not creative it is simple enough to make you look like you are creative!

What I just don't get is WHY are they showing Christmas Carol still?? I mean it is almost April for goodness sakes. :confused3

I am actually hoping they do not take it off before our cruise - I wanted to see it but did not get around to it. I though love Christmas stuff anytime of the year!

Do you think maybe they just don't want us to know there will be fireworks in Barcelona? :confused3 Maybe they want to surprise us...I was really hoping to see them as they looked really cool last time so I'll just hope they don't want you to know so they are saying no but there will be some. :wizard:

This sounds like the best time and place....especially since we have a place reserved for us there already.... maybe cougar photo after?

Kristi.....who says there can't be TWO Queens....we can do what we want ....we're cougars!!! :cool1::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Or maybe the award should be Cougar Princess? princess:

I say Cougar Princess - especially since we have tiara's. :goodvibes

Just spoke to the image group ...(shutters photo company) ....

They said we could arrange onboard (with Prarag the manager on the Magic) for a group photo but it may cost 75$ ...but the fee may be waived if we purchase enough pics.
They would only sell 8x10's not the smaller sizes.
They may give a 10% discount per photo if we buy over 40 or so....
They could do a time we suggest but might want to pick the place because of lighting etc.....

So it sounds to me like "Brack" Photography Company might be the best choice here ;). It could be simpler .... but I will defer to the group for that choice...

Ummm guess I should get back to work :surfweb:

PS..I like Cougar Princess :)

~clothes to dry cleaners
~new underclothes purchased so I can consider all the old things "disposable" and save all that packing room returning home for souvies and fun stuff! (

First of all - breathe it'll all be ok and you will get to the ship on time.

Second - love your thinking - I do the same. I also do this with socks. Save the icky ones I would toss for travel. Socks take up more room than you'd imagine. I'm even thinking of bringing some t-shirts I'm tired of and tossing them when the cruise is over.

Reminder to myself - take clothes to dry cleaners.

Kristi
