Good to know! I'm still waiting to hear what I will need to cover for the two weeks my little guy is out of school. Really how bad could it be, he's in Kindergarden...the letter of the week?
He's missing his play and I just told him today...he cried for half an hour. I felt so bad I baked cookies and let him have unlimited TV for the day. I mean really, I feel bad for taking him out of school for two weeks to play...what has this world come to?

My DS is in kindergarten also, but he's only missing 6 1/2 days because of school vacation and a half day BUT it's a full day kindergarten and I'm not sure how thrilled they are about it (I also had him out 6 days in Oct for Disneyland ).I wish it was the letter of the day- He's expected to read a simple book by June:eek:. He's excited for the trip but he's not too thrilled to miss school- if he ends up missing something special ( like a field trip ) I will not make Mother of the Year ! Isnt it funny that we feel bad about taking our 5yr olds out of school for the trip of a lifetime with great learning, fun, and family time...? What HAS the world come to...:rotfl: !!

May I just say, in the nicest possible way, that I would deeply appreciate it if you blankety-blank folks who are packed and sitting on your suitcases would tone down the public gloating! No, I haven't done any of those things yet. But I will, sometime in the next two weeks (I hope...). One problem with having down-sized the house is that we have no spare beds or spare door-frames or even corners to put the pile of things to go!

Just kidding, I can stand hearing how well prepared you all are. But think, you'll miss the adrenaline rush of staying up all night the night before madly trying to accomplish everything before the plane leaves. I'm not sure I'd know how to begin a trip in any other way...

On another note, I just heard an NPS story about Q fever in the Netherlands. I hope Yvette and Emiel have managed to avoid it.

See you (all too) soon,
Ann

OH! and of it happened days or weeks ago? Please don't tell me! I am just that far behind it seems and am just now noticing!

Today was a slightly better day as far as getting ready goes. Finally pulled all my piles together for the paperwork and notes and stuff that has been accumulating here and there. When you share comupters with 3 big kids and a hubby life gets messy in the office spaces sometimes!

Found my black t-shirts ( I usually buy 4-6 each spring and that's my wardrobe, not even kidding), so when I found some new ones today, life suddenly got better. I can now pack!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: That is soooooo me! Except we have a huge house still (can you tell that's getting old) that needs to be cleaned and a half a dozen kids who like to keep throwing stuff in my laundry room every single day and toys and junk all over the place. . . yeah, my empty bags are hanging in my room and I did make space for our duffles on a couple benches but they are all still empty!

My list go something like this 1. Make a list 2. Make seperat list for DH
3. Make a list of overnight hotel stuff 4. Remember to put stuff on the list. . .:)

OK, I know the info is out there somewhere. I looked at the 1st couple of pages but didn't see it there. Michelle2, I know YOU know this...is there a set number of Secret Mickey gifts? Didn't it say 4 or 5 or something? Thanks,
Ann

Go up to post one on this thread, click the link to our last thread and Michelle's post is #9 with secret Mickey info.

I think the suggested amount was between $25 and $30 for total amount. I foudn it hard to stay in this range?? anyone else?

One of my DCL excursions in Barcelona got cancelled due to a time change which made it conflict with the other excursion I had booked. I'd love to find something to do that will maybe make it so I can see a catherdrel (sp?)....what would be best? Would the HOHO take us somewhere to see something like that?

We are still doing the Chocolate tour in the morning.

Awww I taught kindergarten in NYC. I have an undergraduate degree i theater. Maybe we can get some kids together and I will write a play and the kids will perform for the parents. My guy friend that I am travelling with is a magician. It would be great to put together a show for the parents featuring the kids on the cruise. Then your son won't feel like he is missing out.

Please let me know what you think!! :goodvibes

You sound like my Wife:rotfl:

Thanks Cynthia! I actually did find some more info over on Lynne's fabulous webpage but it is helpful to hear it here as well. too funny about your DH! My DH also has a fabulous sense of direction and can read a map with his eyes closed I think BUT he has been a bit "out of touch" lately and I am trying to handle all the up front stuff before we board. oiy! Not my best skill set for sure!

We did the hoho bus in Barcelona last time, but were too intimidated to get off very often, because we were afraid it might take too long to get back on. The lines look long, but it moves fast. We got a late start and mostly rode the routes. This time we have an idea of where we want off and what we want to see. WE must see Park Guell even though it is a bit of a walk from the bus stop, La Sagrada Familia tours this time, we just saw the outside, Casa Batillo tour and Barcelona Cathedral in the Gothic quarter is probably all we can squeeze into 2 days, if I have more time Picasso Museum.

Cadiz, we did DCL excursion last time, which was led from the ship on foot. WE could have just followed along. We will do the hoho bus because we have seen enough to feel comfortable that we won't get lost. It seems like a lot of us will be on the buses which should add a level of security and peace of mind. If anyone wants to catch the bus with us until you feel secure, we can discuss it onboard.

Got my hair cut & colored last night, so that's now off the list of things to do...

Found a new DCL excursion for Gibraltar this morning....sent the info to Jackie & even tho it's more $$ than what we originally had planned, I think it's a :thumbsup2

Got the hold done on my mail today....

Found out from a co worker that Kmart has some light (weightwise) jeans on sale for $10.00....heading over there tonight on my way home (and Borders) to get a few pairs....then I can have some jeans on this voyage (I usually don't take them as they're so heavy).

Planning on converting US $ to Euros & Pounds (for stay in London) early next week (taking the US $ out of bank on Saturday).

Have an idea of what I need to pack but need to do :laundy: before I can start putting stuff to the side (as I wear this stuff regularly).

I think I'm basically then done (except for the taxes!!) JACKIE - please correct me if I'm wrong!!

Moved my haircut appointment from tonight to tomorrow (hairdresser at a better location on Fridays).

Excited about the new Gibralter excursion! :thumbsup2 I guess I'd better tell Pam, eh?

Got the hold done on my mail today.

Clothes I ordered arrived yesterday and FIT!

Euro/GBP purchase will also be done on Saturday.

Packing list is still in my suitcase from last time.

Still need to do TAXES.

So, are we twins or what??? :rotfl:

I actually stil have to go buy a TSA luggage lock and I think a hand-held luggage scale too. AND still need to double check batteries in my assorted stuff and probably buy some spares.

I am about to compose a contact list/itinerary to leave with my sister...mostly so she'll know when to come to the airport and pick me up!:lmao:

What's the concensus on passports when in port? Take them with you or take the COPY with you, leaving the original in the safe?

Here's the story on your countdown tickers:

Please Read- Tickers and visitor safety
I know that many posters use countdown timers and tickers from Magical Kingdom. I recieved a complaint from a poster that their virus warning software was complaining about a page on the DIS Boards. Further investigation showed that the warning was being triggered by the tickers from Magical Kingdoms. I checked Google's safe browsing page and it reports that:

What happened when Google visited this site?
Of the 10 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 3 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2010-03-24, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 2010-03-24.
Malicious software includes 1 scripting exploit(s).

Malicious software is hosted on 1 domain(s), including imagehacks.info/.

This site was hosted on 1 network(s) including AS30496 (COLO4).

So for your safety we have blocked that web site.
I know everyone loves their tickers but our visitors safety is our highest priority.
We can revisit this if the site gets cleaned up

Well, I just dumped dinner on the kitchen floor. I'M FEELING FRUSTRATED. Granted, I was trying to talk on the phone, monitor ds's 'fatal' injury (mostly imaginary) and carry the pan from stove to oven all at the same time. And the pan is one I love and refuse to throw away even though the handle wobbles back and forth a whole lot...So now I have wasted the food, wasted my time, messed up the kitchen floor, and have 3 hungry people!

On the good side, 2 weeks from yesterday we climb on a plane and I don't cook for 17 days!!!

I would leave passports in the safe unless DCL says we need them to re-board the ship.

If you plan to make a large purchase and want a VAT refund, you will need your passport at time of purchase. (Jackie, this also applies in London.)
