Bound for Barcelona - April 10, 2010 EB TA - Part 4

As I've been doing laundry today and looking through the latest Woman Within catalog, I've been mulling over what I'm going to pack. I will take jeans for crossing days, as I expect it will be too cool for shorts or capris, but will have cotton slacks for the dining rooms. As a matter of fact, you may see me in one of two 'dining outfits' most evenings...throw them on for a couple of hours, save them for the next time!

I need to look at the BA baggage regulations for the Barcelona-London flight (which WILL NOT be affected by any strike, thank you very much). Anybody have that info handy? I've got my American Airlines London to USA written down somewhere. Hmmmm....I think I need to organize all my papers this weekend and get a clear picture of exactly where I stand with this trip organizing business!

I think the most urgent thing is a) doing any ordering of items that need to be shipped to me and b) doing my TAXES. Gee, think I'll take care of that right away.....or after lunch and a movie! :rotfl:

The last time I checked, AA's free baggage allowance from London to the U.S. is:
-- One checked bag, 50 lbs, 60 inches.
-- One carry-on bag, 40 lbs, 45 inches.

YMMV

Hey, what's this green stuff under the melting snow?

sdlong329: Hey, what's this green stuff under the melting snow?

Looks like Spring is on its way! At least it was at the Flower Show yesterday. Hopefully we will be seeing a lot more GREEN after this weekend.

Woo hoo! Cruise documents came today... and the paper luggage tags are a nifty DIS green! :cool1:

QOTD - I am already booked for the Maiden Voyage of the Dream - not looking forward to just a 4 night cruise but super excited about doing the MV :cool1:

Jackie - Rosa Regale already on the list ;)

Packing - I do not plan to take jeans - they take up too much space & are heavy. Basically I'll be taking black pants (several styles) and shirts to coordinate w/ them. I figure I'll have a couple of pairs of shorts (embarkation day, CC & maybe 1 or 2 sea days). I had planned to take a few pairs of capris too. Bathing suits (2) are a must.

Attire in the dining rooms (for dinner)....I'm a bad person to ask...I don't like change ....I think blue jeans & shorts should not be allowed but it's b/c I want the "experience" of dressing for dinner (I'm an old soul :lmao:). Nice colored jeans I think are ok. Do I feel like you have to dress to the nines each night? Definately not (unless you want to). I don't even dress up for semi or formal nights.

I will tell you tho, that on the January cruise Jackie & I just took together, it DOES seem like the guidelines have changed. We stopped in after dinner at Topsiders (formal night) in our shorts, we were told that they would have let us in dressed as we were.

Bottom line - it's your vacation...do what you want to do :upsidedow and as long as you don't hurt the person next to you.....it's all good :thumbsup2

Doing the cruise doc dance!!!

Funny thing though is that we got 3 sets. DH and I got ours, grandma got hers and then my DD (8) got her own set, with her own set of luggage tags. Maybe she got her own room I don't know about, LOL. :lmao:

DW Donna went to the Philly Flower show today ... so today, she's "spending the green!"

Hey, BTW - one more post on DISboards, and you will have PM capabilities! I posted information about PM capabilities on page 2 of this thread :)

I agree with what you said in the first (quoted) paragraph. As for guidelines ... I find it's because people refuse to adhere to the posted dress code in the Navigator. However, I must disagree with you on "BOTTOM LINE" ... as it is EVERYONE's vacation. I don't want to hear a screaming temper tantrum in dinner, during a show (anywhere for that matter). Stuff happens, but there is common sense, courtesy and respect for others. Yes, I understand embarkation and debarkation days are different. I also understand temperature and comfort have impact on dress, but I do not think it is much to ask to respect the posted dress code for dinner (it's only 90 minutes of of a 24 hour day). If not for the dress code, I fear we'd have people wearing bikini's, thongs, wraps, and speedo's at dinner (sorry, that's not for me). If I want to wear jeans on formal night, I'll book a cruise on Carnival and save big bucks.

Interesting.....I'm packing mostly capris and tossing in one pair of pants for London. I may throw in a pair of jeans...but only if I space. Only one pair of shorts though (for CC and WDW for two days before trip).

Very jealous of your baggage allowance. And, even more jealous of the business class seats :)

How about adding the 4 night after the Maiden Voyage to make it longer. That's what we are doing and the second leg is way cheaper, I think about half the cost!

On a previous cruise I heard guests tell the server they would not be coming next night for formal night because no desire to dress up. The head server came around a little while later and encouraged them to come to the dining room regardless of attire.

I do like to see my dh and ds in tux and all my dd in their formal wear.

Doing the cruise doc dance!!!

Got our docs today as well.:cool1:

I love how personal they are now, with the ports and the Castaway Club level we are and it knows that we have air & ground taken care of.

It's alot better than what they used to send out, IMO.

Came back from the sugar bush and found a little paper stuck to the door - FEDEX tried to deliver our docs but we were out - hopefully Monday.
