No docs today but YAY Ducky Williams!!!!!!!

Krisann, it seems we both got the same luck. No upgrades, no docs.
I did book directly with DCL but changed my reservation through DVC.
The way I see it, as long as we get on the ship, everything else is fine.

I just realized I leave in almost 30 days! I am not all the way packed yet, and this is a big one:

I DO NOT have a way home yet! :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1: Guess I should decide on what I am doing!

We are playing with the idea of booking the WBTA also as the airfares would be a great deal for RT but just don't know yet :confused3

guess I should decide!

For those of you non-USers......I'm local & driving to the port so if you need me to pick up anything. Staying at the Country Inn & Suites :thumbsup2

EH Matey, ow 'bouts a bot'le o' Rosa Regale? (Did that sound non-US enough? :rolleyes1)

And Don "Ducky" Williams will be on the cruise with us!!!!!:artist::hyper:party::donald: My husband will be the one fainting because Don taught him how to draw Mickey and is the reason he is an artist at the Studios today!!!:faint:

Oh yeah! I'd love to see him again...and THIS time I'll go to the drawing class. :thumbsup2

5 weeks from right now I should be driving (with Jackie & Pam) from the MCO airport (where I pick them up) to the Country Inn & Suites!!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

:cheer2::woohoo::yay: :cheer2::woohoo::yay: :cheer2::woohoo::yay:

And five weeks from right now we'll be getting into our jimmie-jams and be way too excited to sleep. That is unless, we're still sitting out by the pool jabbering with all our new DIS pals! :grouphug:

--If you normally sail on 7+ day cruises, will you book a shorter cruise on the Dream ... or wait for the Fantasy?

Already have a Dream B2B booked for Nov '11 for my birthday! :woohoo:

no smilies were injured during this posting except for the few I had to edit out....

I have the post one either page 1 or page 2 - about meeting at the gang-plank, at at the fountains. If we have someone who is good with navigation on the website, and can figure out if we can take a bus (vs, cab) ... that would be good to know. At this point, I think it's probably best for 1, 2 or 3 people to look into something like this, and report back ... instead of having 100 separate individuals figuring out what to do.

So, do we have any volunteers? I have no experience wit public transportatin in Europe ... hopefully, a volunteer will have previously been to Barcelona. Anyone? :flower3:

My boss (who was in Barcelone in September) has given me her city map to Barcelona. I'll gladly hand it over to whoever needs it for getting people to the fountain. Though I couldn't find the fountain on the map - couldn't think of the name. :confused3

Cool about Ducky Williams. I've heard great things about him and was hoping he would be on the cruise.

I've gone to the animation drawing classes at HS - best job I did was Pooh. So I think I might be ready for a drawing class with Ducky. Just as long as I get to have an eraser on my pencil! :goodvibes

Ummm I think we all decided IT WAS YOU! :thumbsup2
Oh exaulted leader!:worship::worship::worship:

Aw shucks, I'm honored.

If I'm the cougar queen then ya'll are in TROUBLE - :lmao: You realize this would mean I'll have to get a tiara to wear for when we take our picture :rotfl2:

May get one anyway for one of the formal nights - that's one way to make the same dress seem different :rotfl:

Hi Steven and Everyone:

We have visited Barcelona twice before and took the metro (subway) around town when we were there with the Magic in 2007. We did not visit the Magic Fountain last time but plan to do so on this trip.

I think if you are coming from the ship directly, the best way would be to take the shuttle to the drop off point (hopefully Disney will offer the shuttle again) which is close to Monumento a Cristobal Colon (Christopher Columbus Statue) and then take a short walk to the Drassanes metro. This will be the green metro line (#3) and it would be the third stop at Espanya (Drassanes, Paral-lel, Poble Sec and Espanya). The walk appears to be about 500m from the Espanya station to the fountain. The distance from Cristobal Colon to the fountain appears to be about 2 km.

More information about the fountain can be found here (I hope it's okay for me to post):
http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/albums-en/magic-fountains-montjuic/

We found the subway system to be very efficient and easy to use in Barcelona (even moreso than here in Toronto), and inexpensive. Metro tip: ticket is entered on the left side and enter the turnstile on the right. (Lots of other good information at the above site including transportation information).

We plan to go to the 8:30 PM show but not sure how we will get to the Fountain as we may be out the whole day. Hope this helps. Thanks.

-Martin

Thanks Martin! I copied your information to page 1. I will see if I can figure out what the cost might be. Once we get within 30 days, I will see if I can find out about the shuttle - unless someone in a suite or conceirge can assist with this.

Martin - Do you know if the metro runs 24/7? I know it does here in Philadelphia ... but after certain hours, the trips are much less frequent.

I will take a closer look at the link you provided.

Hi Steven:

Here are the times of the metro from the Barcelona TMB site:

http://www.tmb.cat/en_US/barcelona/moute/horaris/horaris.jsp

  • Working days (Monday to Thursday), Sundays and holidays: 5 a.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Fridays and day prior to festive days: 5 a.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Saturdays and day prior to 1/1, 24/6, 15/8 and 24/9: non-stop service
The Metro costs are 1.40 Euros per ticket. More information can be found here: http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/transport/barcelona-metro.html#metroticket

Auntlynne has also posted the same or similar information on her site under "Barcelona - Port & Transport" and there are more formal details I am just learning about on the Cruise Port Shuttle Bus Service (Blue Bus) on her site. I thought the shuttle was offered by Disney but perhaps it looks like it is operated by the city and runs every 30 minutes.

Thank you.

-Martin

Good information, Martin.

I see also there are many Metro ticket options, including:

  • Single Metro ticket 1.40 EUR (one journey for one person)
  • One day pass ("T-Dia") 5.90 EUR
  • Two day "Travel Card" 11.20 EUR
  • 10 Journey card ("T-10") 7.85 EUR (This is essentially 10 tickets, and is sharable. This is a multi-person card with time limit and is good for 1 hr 15 min each time it is validated.)
Children under 4 are free.

WOW...I'm new to this thread, but hey, that is such a unique & creative tattoo!!

:thumbsup2

And our dear Kathe is right down the hall! :thumbsup2 :grouphug:

Me, too! I'm in 6089. There are lots of us on deck 6!

And Don "Ducky" Williams will be on the cruise with us!!!!!:artist::hyper:party::donald: My husband will be the one fainting because Don taught him how to draw Mickey and is the reason he is an artist at the Studios today!!!:faint:

That is so cool! Does he bring stuff of his to buy? I remember reading he was on the last EBTA. How do you know he will be there?

Yes I read in the Passporter book that you can call & find out which movies will be playing on your cruise...I was wondering when someone was going to do that! :goodvibes

I hope we'll get to see Alice and also I hope they're still playing The Princess & the Frog. I just couldn't convince my husband to go see that one and I really want to!

You are supposed to call within 2 weeks to find out which movies will be playing during our cruise. I think if they're still playing A Christmas Carol now, I'm sure they'll still be playing Princess and the Frog. It was a cute movie but I thought it had a lot of "voodoo" stuff being set in New Orleans. I think Oceans will come out while we are sailing. It starts on Earth Day, Apr 22, I think.

Martin, is the subway something the people with walking difficulties can do? Are there a lot of steps or do they have an escalator (sp?)?

QOTD, I've already booked a 5 day DD on the Dream for June (on opening day). I looked last night and it's already pretty full. Cabins start at cat 5 something! Does anyone "play" on any of the WDW forums? Where does one who has never been to WDW start lurking to find out everything there is to know about WDW? I'd like to go before our Dream cruise for a few days so I guess I better start now (well, after I get home from this cruise).

Thank you. I took in some ears I wear when I visit the parks and she drew it up for me. I'm very happy with it...wasn't too happy when it was being dine though :)

Didn't know Disney still sent paper docs. Nice touch. Haven't had those in ages. Do they have lots of info in them?
