Seriously, I was trying to be helpful and convey information I received from DCL regarding Palo brunch, in their own words. The tone of discussions on this thread is becoming very discouraging to me lately.

Dee, I know you were. I was just trying to make sure I understood about the dress code. I didn't want to think it was ok for cruise casual for brunch and then get turned away to change into something more formal or think it was formal and realize I could go cruise casual. Wasn't trying to start a dress code war.

Here's some clarification regarding dress code at Palo's for Brunch. There's some personalities here that would like to bring up heated discussion about dress codes, and here are the facts, plain and simple.

From Disney's Website (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/magic/dining/palo/)

At brunch and high tea, attire is cruise casual, meaning no shorts, jeans, swimwear or tank tops.

That doesn't say "YOU NEED A TIE" or "POLOS NOT ALLOWED". The dress code for brunch clearly indicates what is not allowed; therefore, what's not on the list would be inferred as allowed by definition.

Enjoy your group dining.

Thanks for the link from the site. It puts my mind at ease a bit.

Watching a local TV station (Toronto CityTV, Breakfast Television), and sure enough I had to take a double take since they were broadcasting "live" from Cataway Cay. How cool is that? Four weeks cruisers and that will us on that island.:cool1::cool1::cool1:
Any one else see that?

Erin, good luck to you going around the ship that many times. I could barely deal with going 4-6 miles.

I will be the guy you haveto run around, I currently might be able to WALK around the ship 2 or 3 times. But the good news is that I have 29 days 8 hours and 15 mins before the all aboard call, to heal.:rotfl:

MJ: Happy Birthday!!!:bday::bday::bday:

Kristie: good luck with the MRI.

Dee: Thank you so much for arranging this brunch!!!!!!!

Open seating is available when dining at Palo for brunch, meaning you and your family are invited to dine at any table you choose.

That's what the website says. News to me - but I ate there last in October 2008; and then they told us where to sit. So a bunch of us line up at opening time (with reservations, of course) and take over the restaurant. :goodvibes They won't know what hit them. JK.

Anybody had brunch there lately?

I had brunch, tea, and dinner there during Jan30 cruise and each time they seated us at a specific location. We had asked for a special server but it seemed everyone was seated that way.

Awwwww! Thanks for the welcomes! :grouphug: You may not want me to come out of my shell... IRL I'll talk to a tree or a potted plant. It's just online that I turn into a wallflower.

Welcome out of lurking! Once you get started DISing it is hard to stop. My dh is a distance runner and honestly finds it difficult to do long runs on the ship with small space, lots of walkers, sometimes big groups or strollers and sometimes workers doing stuff on deck, so usually skips or does the treadmill for shorter runs.

We are staying at the Renaissance Barcelona Airport Hotel

My inlaws are staying there post cruise too!

Definitely a treat to see.
My Daughter was chosen to open the park a few years ago. She still talks about it.

T

Now that is a magical memory, how great for your daughter!

sdlong329;35795031The people who update websites are not necessarily the same people on the ship. For those who have never been to Palo's said:
for a more intimate—and more romantic—dining experience[/B]. Venetian masks adorning the walls, a backlit bar at the restaurant's center and an open kitchen only add to the Magic."

On a side note (not related to this thread or Palo's), I find it ironic (no emoticon required) that some cruisers read the words CRUISE CASUAL, and assume it means CASUAL. There IS a difference!

I agree that sometimes DCL website vs what is actually their recommendation is not the same. One would think such a large organization could have some consistency and keep things up to date!

There is a difference in casual vs. cruise casual but sometimes I think DCL is the one confused on this and not always the cruisers :) DCL definition of cruise casual has varied more than once in my recent sailings and again one wonders about consistency and keeping things up to date on DCL part.

Yes the servers walk around the atrium....appletini's are my favorite drink that they pass around. There are others too but those are my favorite!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

.

I don't do much alcohol but have to admit those appletini's are my favorite!

Erin, good luck to you going around the ship that many times. I could barely deal with going 4-6 miles.
.

That's about how my dh does too, maybe 4 miles.

Kristi ...another wish here for a sucessfull, comfortable, stress free procedure for the QUEEN of Cougars:worship:

I am wishing everyone a happy day! ...we are so close I can almost feel it!

Ditto what Joi said about the stress free procedure today!

Happy belated birthday MJ! Hope it was a great one.

While I haven't been involved in any of the group brunch/dinners on this cruise I am a participant on the MED and want to say thanks for all of those who do take their time to organize and make those events possible, along with all of the other group activities and events planned to make our vacations even more memorable. I am looking forward to lanyards, BUNCO, FE exchanges, Christmas organization workshops, games, DIS meets, traveling with other DIS friends to excursions, my kids making friends and lots of other stuff that fellow DIS members have taken their time to plan and organize. Having a spreadsheet and a website are awesome! More incredible graphics and logos than I can count and thanks to a wonderful DIS peep (Brooklynne) I finally figured out how to get a logo in my signature!

And if I forgot to mention someone or something they did for me, it's just because my brain is only partially working this a.m.

We have been a great cruise meet thread and personally would hate to see that continue to deteriorate the way it appears to be doing.

I've never been to WDW and I'd like to go but my DD isn't too keen on the idea. But just thought I'd make everyone aware since it is good most of the summer.

Thanks for the info, my mom just got the disney card and I was thinking if I could get good flights I might take the kids in two weeks (spring break). I have to see if it inclues the yacht or beach club.:surfweb:

Several times during a cruise I will set my alarm for about 3AM. I call room service to order a pot of coffee and oatmeal raisin cookies .... just because I can! :woohoo:
Hi, Brack! Do you LIKE the alarm, or is it the cookies and coffee?:) I have them delivered just before we go to bed, and the carafe keeps the coffee plenty hot. DW NEEDS it in the AM, and I don't have to run up to the beverage station, and there's not even a 10 minute wait for the room server.

I have made return air plans (Sunday not Saturday) on Swiss Air; then from Dulles to Tampa. Also we are staying at the Best Western in Barcelona for that Saturday night.

I am ready to pack my ONE suitcase next week. This will leave my DW the opportunity for two.
We're on SWISS on Sunday also - BCN to Zurich at 9:45, then on to JFK. Is yours direct DCN to Dulles? Is the Best Western IN the city, or by the airport. It's the last reservation I have left to make, and am leaning towards being at an airport hotel to avoid the trip in the morning on Sunday.

We plan to tour some more of Barcelona after we leave the ship Saturday. Any ideas on dealing with our luggage? Should we go to an airport hotel, check in, and return to the city? Would that waste too much time? Are there any in-town locker or luggage storage options?

I am an RN, not a gender-reassignment surgeon :rotfl:

Oh, good, a backup medical plan:flower3: i:rotfl2:f you're anything like my RN DW, who travels with what I call a MASH unit in her bag

Speaking of Sea Days,

0001jj.jpg

LOVE IT:woohoo: Now, let's hope that depicts what we'll experience -
fair winds, and following seas.

And (tech question) - is that how I have to post pictures? I tried cut and paste, but it looks like it has to be a link to an online location? How about to send one for use on YOUR website (in the " EBTA Cruisers Photos" section)?

How about a category for Best Pirate Night Door?

Are there any other theme nights ? I remember reading way back in the first thread about Prince and Princess night and the women wearing crowns. Is that still a go? I was in the Dollar Store and saw a cute crown with pink feathers and I couldn't resist buying it but it will stay packed if no one else is wearing them.

Good luck on your MRI Kristi

I saved and re-published the website (it needs to be done nearly every day). I am very happy to see that you visited the website. :goodvibes

Okay, it is so very off kilter now. The information is in two text boxes and appears lined up on the working page - but is so wrong when published. I'll work on that now.

And, yes, it is good to know everyone's favorites. We could be shopping one day in Seville and say, hey, isn't that Jan's favorite candy/color/character? You never know.

I am trying to add to the Google spread sheet but it seems to be sleeping. Is there a password I should need?

Here are some luggage tags some people may want to use. We used these on our last cruise but I figured I would post them with our dates if anyone wanted to use. My plan is to make some that match our logo too but that is at the bottom of a very long to do list. ;)

What you can do is just print them out, wirte your info and them laminate them together. After that you can punch a hole on the side and place on your luggage.

I've never been to WDW and I'd like to go but my DD isn't too keen on the idea. But just thought I'd make everyone aware since it is good most of the summer.

How old is she?
Has she been to WDW before?
Why is she not interested now? :confused3

 Jan

Ok guys. I asked my friends what they wore and saw when they went to Brunch on the cruise after Thanksgiving this past year. Here is her reply. I haven't decided how dressed up or down we will be and everyone is more then welcome to wear whatever you want. You won't bother me either way.

"No JEANS! I saw someone get turned away for that!
No muscle shirts, you'd be fine with a polo shirt (collar) and slacks.
The same for Mike- collared shirt and pants.

You should be safe with that.

You can dress it up or down to a certain extent.
We saw one gentleman there that was in a suit with a MIckey bow tie, suspenders and a Mickey vest to match!

Not what you'd wear to V&A (Victoria & Alberts), but maybe to CG(California Grill).
Women are more forgiven than men."

Hope this helps anyone that is confused. Again I don't care what people wear as long as you wear something:rotfl:

In regards to all this bickering, yes I find it disappointing, but not unexpected. You figure we have gone through 3 boards and on 4th we are bound to come across things that we disagree on. I agree with Lynne or Dee I can't remember who said it about PMing someone if you strongly disagree with something they said. No one likes to be called to the carpet for their opinion in front of everyone. With that being said, I will be the first to say that if anything I have said offended anyone, then I sincerely apologize. I love this board and looking forward to meeting you all on the cruise.:hug::hug::grouphug:
