Bekaah, I should have confirmation for you and DH tomorrow for group 2. Stay tuned.

Great news! My reservation is still on the website - so there may still be more openings for those trying to get one.

Also this is probably one of the few places you will see me connected with "Glenn" - as this is my husbands first name - he goes by Ashley (his middle name) so if someone calls him Glenn he is not ignoring you - he most likely doesn't realize you are talking to him :) even at work they call him Ashley.

Krisann

:) See you there!

Ottawa! I just noticed! Ottawa was the last day of the canoe trips our church youth group took each summer through the Rideau Route. We pulled the canoes out at Smiths Falls, camped in a public park there by the canal and drove to Ottawa for the day before returning to our homes in upstate New York near Utica. Ottawa is where I learned that fried fish and potatoes SHOULD be seasoned with malt vinegar and salt. I love it! YAY FISH AND CHIPS!
.

Small world! We have a trailer at a camp on Lake Opinicon, part of the Rideau canal system. We know Smiths Falls very well. Its possible we waved at you while you canoed by! :) Where did you start the canoe trip? Do you still do the trip?

I have to laugh at your vinegar comment! My DS-8, will not eat any sauces, gravies etc, BUT will happily put vinegar on ANYTHING! :lmao:

Eleasa

P.S. We can (not so) patiently await our paperwork together! ;)

I was a teenager so paid no attention to our location while driving to and through Canada or any of the lakes's names. We put in at a campground on one of the lakes and mostly canoed through lakes. Very little canal time as it is less picturesque. We camped each night. Sometimes we went through locks and one year they made us portage all the canoes except the one with a little motor as it was the only one that required registration in New York so they could log that in the book. They refused to let the rest of us go through with it. We made a sign that said OTTAWA OR BUST and displayed it rather prominently as we carried our canoes and supplies past the lock keeper.

I live in Indiana now so no return trips to the Rideau in recent past. I think my last trip was the summer of 1968. What a neat place to have a cottage. My brother might know the names of the lakes, want me to ask him?

:scratchin: Do you want people who are not part of the Secret Mickey, Fish Extender gifts, Stateroom Door Magnet contest, etc to include information on the FAVORITES tab of the Google spread sheet?
:confused3

Jan

Annt Lynne,
List of cruisers on your wonderful website does not have my DIS name lined up with our real names and stateroom number.
JLSE50 Jan and Tom 5632
thanks
:)

I saved and re-published the website (it needs to be done nearly every day). I am very happy to see that you visited the website. :goodvibes

Okay, it is so very off kilter now. The information is in two text boxes and appears lined up on the working page - but is so wrong when published. I'll work on that now.

And, yes, it is good to know everyone's favorites. We could be shopping one day in Seville and say, hey, isn't that Jan's favorite candy/color/character? You never know.

I don't want to lose people because they were uncomfortable here.
I just read the last several pages and was disheartened by the direction this thread has taken.

Hopefully it was an aberration.

Kristi-----

Good luck with the MRI tomorrow; I have had quite a few so understand what you're going through. I always try to focus on scenes in my mind and keep my eyes closed. I too take some meds for the procedure. Let us know how it goes.

I did not know the pastry treats were free... I will most definately have a little taste on this cruise. Funny little note - on our last cruise in December, we were enjoying some chicken fingers when a nice little older lady came over to us and asked how much did it cost for the chicken. I told her all the food on the ship was included with the fare so she said - darn I wish I would have knew this sooner. She thought all the food other then what was being served in the dining room would cost her extra. She then told us it was her first cruise ever. :upsidedow

Yup, that is DH's favorite spot now! :thumbsup2 That is a cute story.

Someone mentioned free drinks on formal night. Where and how do I get one?

Yes the servers walk around the atrium....appletini's are my favorite drink that they pass around. There are others too but those are my favorite!

There's a party with the captain in the atrium before dinner(s) and they serve drinks there.

.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We used to live in Texas and my BIL lives in Lafayette, LA so we love cajun food.

I graduated high school in Lafayette, LA.

I'm hoping to do at least two in the 12 - 14 mile range and the thought of running 36 laps around the deck is mindboggling so I'm trolling for company!

Erin, good luck to you going around the ship that many times. I could barely deal with going 4-6 miles. One morning my daughter woke up very early (4ish) and wouldn't go back to sleep so I put her in the jogger and started running around deck 4. There was a woman asleep on a chair and every time I'd run past her I'd clock my lap. Thankfully, the woman stayed asleep for an entire hour while I ran. ha! I found running on the treadmill easier than running around the deck. My mileage is down right now -- not that I ever ran 13 for fun, only for races. :) Good luck!

Kristi I hope all your MRI's go well :grouphug:

Hope it goes okay, Kristi.

Open seating is available when dining at Palo for brunch, meaning you and your family are invited to dine at any table you choose.

...Any table you chose?

That's what the website says. News to me - but I ate there last in October 2008; and then they told us where to sit. So a bunch of us line up at opening time (with reservations, of course) and take over the restaurant. :goodvibes They won't know what hit them. JK.

Anybody had brunch there lately?

......appletini's are my favorite drink that they pass around. There are others too but those are my favorite!...

If I try one, will it be pretty indicative of what you would get elsewhere?

I love the idea of Free. I paid for a lemondrop martini Saturday night in Orlando and had just a few sips - not so good. What a waste of money, as I didn't drink any more. One day I might realize that I don't really like the flavor of alcohol, anyway, and stop trying - just like I did with coffee. No matter how much caramel goes into a machiatto, I still get that aftertaste.

Crossing my fingers for you, Kristi! Good luck with the MRI!

Thanks Dee47 for taking the time to arrange the brunch. We have done dinner and the tea and now we are looking forward to the brunch.

My pleasure! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone -- private room DIS events at Palo are a blast!

Great news! My reservation is still on the website - so there may still be more openings for those trying to get one.

Krisann

Good to know about "Glenn" and "Ashley," Krisann. I'll try not to get confused!

My resies for brunch and dinner are gone. I hope someone here snagged them!

If you feel the need to correct others on matters of etiquette or protocol, please use the PM function of this site.

My heart is still racing from reading tonight's posts - and I was not the intended recipient of the post's contents.

This is not directed at one sole individual, but at all of us. Let's keep this thread as a place where we can come and get information to make our disney experiences happy.

I don't want to lose people because they were uncomfortable here.

Thank you! I am on the verge of going AWOL at this point, I'm fairly disgusted. And I would appreciate it, if anyone has any Palo questions, if they would just PM me. I've been there many times, I've sold the cruises, and I don't jump down people's throats when they ask questions. I'm happy to help but please just take it off-line. I promise not to lecture, just give you straight facts.

I am editing this post due to high emotions and frustrations.

Ok this is just silly!

There are those of us who have strong personalities on this board. I know I am one of them. It tends to be a way in this situtaion.

I feel like I am back in high school.

If you don't want the comments that are making you so upset to continue then I would suggest (not telling you what to do) that you PM the person you have a problem with. Posting on the main board will only add to the fire.

I don't care what anyone wears, this is MY vacation. If you care what I am wearing then get yourself a hobby bc you clearly have too much time on your hands. Whether Steven is telling me what to wear, his opinion or his experiences, in the end I just don't care. I will do what I want to do and what works for my family.

Smoking will bother me bc it will cause discomfort on my vacation. DCL has certain areas where those who smoke can do it. I will respect that. Do I think the areas should be limited, absolutly but they are not. For the time being I will have to deal with it and adjust accordingly.

Life is so very short and there are much bigger problems then those on the DIS. Steven I love the fact that you are able to speak your mind. Yes not everyone will agree with you but if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything. I give you credit for standing for something and sticking by it.

I also think that no one here is a moderator. The Mods monitor the boards and if there is a problem they will see to it that it is taken care of.

Again, if you don't want the pot stirred then I would remove your spoon.

Brooklyn, I agree that this has turned silly and unfortunate. :(

Let's please not let the heated topics ruin this thread. I have learned so much from everyone and would hate for people to stop posting.

I hope we can all agree to disagree.

What is the distance of one time around the ship?

Erin, good luck to you going around the ship that many times. I could barely deal with going 4-6 miles. One morning my daughter woke up very early (4ish) and wouldn't go back to sleep so I put her in the jogger and started running around deck 4. Hope it goes okay, Kristi.

Kristi ...another wish here for a sucessfull, comfortable, stress free procedure for the QUEEN of Cougars:worship:
