Funny...I was wondering the same thing. Cadiz seems like the "forgotten port".

We got a call from DCL and our Cadiz excursion was canceled. Funny, it was the only DCL, funny, touristy thing we had scheduled...flamenco dancers & tapas!

So guess we are wondering what to do too. There is always the hop on/hop off buses.... kinda bummed they canceled though. :/

Oh well, maybe something will look good once we board. :]

:welcome: to all the new people

We did Easter dinner today as my stepdad came to see the kids and wasn't staying until tomorrow. So that makes it a little easier for tomorrow since it's done.

I bought a really cool framed picture of Alice in Wonderland :earsboy: it wasn't a planned purchase but I love it and now need to decide where to hang it. My mom keeps trying to steal it so hopefully it's still at my house when I get home from the cruise :rotfl:

Packing will get done tomorrow except for the makeup and curling iron and stuff I'll have to use this week. I'm so very excited that it's almost time :tigger::sulley::goofy:

We might to the hop on/hop off buss thing.

I was trying to decide between Seville (even though it's a festival day there) or something in Jerez de la Frontera. No way my niece wants to see sherry making, but it may be one of the white villages of Andalucia. It's not far from Cadiz, about 1/4 - 1/3 of the way to Seville. And then we could come back to Cadiz for sunset (it's supposed to be a nice view from the beach) - although we'll be seeing sunsets all the way across the Atlantic, I imagine, unless we are inside eating dinner or watching shows.

Either way, we're probably taking the train somewhere.

I was working on Med excursion plans when I realized Cadiz and Madeira were still lacking. I'm going to miss my computer on vacation - I NEED it to plan this stuff. (I know, I know - read Rick Steve's books - but they are books and this is the 21st century).

I was just thinking about someone on this thread and wondered if they were still around; hadn't heard from them in a while. So I looked up "other posts by ..." - and there they were from April 2 - so long ago! :cutie: When the pages fly by, you can lost in the shuffle. Or else they are sensibly packing and getting ready and not doing the procrastination DISboard activity.

I was in the middle of checking nametags to verify I hadn't forgotten anyone - oh yeah, there were several. I am using both the Master Spreadsheet and the website to double & triple check. We'll have some blank ones, but I don't want anybody to have even a shadow cast on their first day. :goodvibes

I would really like to see Seville, but I really don't want to travel so far, plus it is so expensive. I would like to do something kid friendly...a little closer.

For Delta -- it depends when you bought the ticket. They have no free bags anymore, but if you bought your ticket between 7/16 and 1/4, your online checked baggage fees are $15 and $25 for the second bag. Anything after that becomes obscene. If you check in at the airport, these fees are $5 higher.

If you bought your tickets after 1/4 Krisann's answer is correct.

AA gives you 1 free bag from Europe, the 2nd one is $50.

Dee, how do you know when DCL "bought" your ticket? This is the info I got with my ressie info:

Looks like this means they can change whatever they want whenever they want.

My mental power is strong: Linda was the post-er I had wondered about. And here she is, posting more. :)

Stephanie told me this before, but I can't remember. How are her journal pages supposed to be printed out again? I know they were meant to be double sided papers, but in what order do I print the backs to what fronts. Does anyone know? I will message her tomorrow I guess.

Thanks for thinking about me. I've been laying low lately. Been having "issues." But trying to keep up. I was just telling my DD today that I need a new hobby...

Hi,

If someone is staying until the 25th in Barcelona I would try to get Tickets for the FC Barcelona match on the 25th. The best soccer team in the world and the stadium with 100.000+ People. I was there last year and it is nuts! Also if someone is interested I could arrange a trip to Camp Nou (stadium) on the 23th.

Mr. YOWHAM

Very colorful - great graphics and plenty of room for our to-be-tween son, 8 1/2 to practice his writing (most important "homework" from his school) during our extra 2 weeks off.
.
A bit tricky to print out and re-bind but it makes sense once one "gets it".
.
First, super-important to print landscape and "Double-sided" (9 sheets of 8 1/2" x 11" paper).

Then, place face down in-order, 9 pages (very well planned out) as so:

Mickey/Minnie (will be 1st page, when center-bound, then folded)
My Travel Journal (with "stamp") Day 1, Port Canaveral, will be 3rd page.
Castaway Cay with "page" of blank lines, will be 5th page.
Day at Sea (with Stitch on bottom right), will be 7th page.
Day at Sea (lots of blank lines, with "Day 14 Barcelona" on left side of page), will be 9th page.
Day at Sea (lots of blank lines, with "Day 13 Day at Sea" on left side of page), will be 11th page.
Day at Sea (lots of blank lines, with white-uniformed Mickey on bottom-right and "Day 12 Gibraltar" on left side of page), will be 13th page.
Day at Sea (lots of blank lines, with "Day 11 Cadiz Spain" on left side of page), will be 15th page.
Day at Sea (lots of blank lines, with "Day 10 Day at Sea" on left side of page), will be 17th page.

If placed face-down in order above, "Day 9 Madeira" will be left side of top face-up page (18th page).

Fold sheets down the middle individually. Then center-bind with vertical staples (use reinforcements inside and outside as a "binder") or with scrapbooking brads (my wife's department).

We did two copies so my son can make mistakes.

Fun and Thanks!

I havent been on this thread in over a week and boy oh boy, there was a ton of pages to catch up on. My DH flew home from Iraq on Saturday.
However, on a sad note, my family could use ALL of your prayers.
We have had a major issue with my 20 year old DS and at this time he is in the Behavioral Center at our local hospital.
I am having a hard time with the fact that we are leaving in a week, and not knowing what is going to happen with my DS.

So glad your husband is home. Will keep your family in my prayers.

For those who observe --a HAPPY & BLESSED EASTER.

Welcome to Jim & Norma Jean and Kathy & Lou.

I seem to be in surrender mode. I'll just give up on trying to organize/plan and let this next week happen. (Although the dry erase on the mirror looks good. Should help me remember to throw the blood pressure meter in next Saturday.) Meds are in the carry-on. Basic clothes are set aside. There are washers and dryers on board.

That's my happy dance for conquering the Renfe (Spanish Railway) website.

It is notorious for being difficult to navigate & even harder for getting it a credit card transaction to go through.

If you start the process in English (having chosen that as your preferred "idioma," it invariably reverts to Spanish or at least part-Spanish.

I had chosen my train times and seats and entered my personal info (including passport # and credit card info). I used my Chase Disney Rewards VISA. ENTER. As the page redirects, it says something to the effect: "Now this is no longer in the hands of Renfe, but your bank." Verified by VISA block pops up, I fill it out. Unable to process, error G001.

This is exactly what multiple website forums had predicted.

They love VISA in Europe; surely my AMEX card won't help. Another forum says Renfe only accepts AMEX from Americans; VISA and Mastercard won't work. Let's give it a try. All the way through to "it's out of our hands..." Error, different one, though.

Wait, I have an LLBean VISA, let's try that. Error.

I've also got a VISA check card from my local credit union. "In your banks hands," Verified by VISA. ... processing, processing...SUCCESS!

Now trying to print those tickets is another story.

It says "Mantenga la integridad de toda la hoja, sin cortar ninguna de las zonas impresas."

That looks to me as "Maintain the integrity of all something or the other, without something the printed areas."

But the entire page won't fit on the page; it cuts off the top with the Ticket No.

Did I mention this was from a national railroad that was established when Spain was ruled by Francisco Franco? And that it is in Europe, who don't understand 8 1/2 x 11" paper - I think it is formatted in the A4 paper-size. Don't have that just sitting around the house - I have photo paper, cardstock, brochure (slick) paper, printer paper and economy (thin) printer paper. But all in 8 1/2 x 11. Why didn't we go metric with the rest of the world? Perhaps Staples will have some A4 to sell by the sheet. Maybe I could use legal and cut off the extra on the bottom?
