Too bad about the school schedule - maybe its scheduled around Easter? Thats one good thing in Massachusetts ( most of MA ) , the spring break is always scheduled around a state holiday which is celerbrated the third Monday in April. It helps when trying to plan things far in advance. What a great month your kids are going to have!!!

Lol @ ONE good thing about Mass.
Though I must admit is very nice to not have to go with the rest of the country. It is MUCH easier to book things and everything is much less crowded.

On tour books. . .is anyone going to bring them along or is the wieght just to much to fool with? I think if I read the night before the actual port maybe something will actually stay with me and DH won't look at them at all until we are sailing soooo, am I crazy to bring them along?

We always bring along our tour books & put them in the carryon luggage for the trip home. You never know when something is going to happen - a museum is closed, we have to skip a port, etc. - that you'll need to reference the travel book. If we have a book w/ just a little info we copy those pages and bring them with us instead of the whole book.

I have a tour scheduled and the woman just emailed me that
Apparently Disney Magic has changed docking time in our port from 10:30am to 8:45am.

Yay!

stlkeeler, Happy Goofy, obobber, (and Monica!) now that our early arrival time is 'official' for Madeira, we have a 9:30AM pick up....right? (This is what I get for cleaning out my PM box). So our tour will be done about 2 hours before the parade.

.

That is so funny you asked this today! I was just thinking about this as I woke up this morning and wondered if they would do that or (let me!) charge me a fee to "go into the med center down on Deck 1" I am trying not to bring my monitor as it is somewhat bulky and heavy! UGH! DH and I might need to monitor though. . .oh my!

I have Rick Steves' "Portuguese Phrase Book" from a prior trip.

Depending on your plans in Madiera, this might come in handy:

"Se nao for mais devagar, vou vomitar."
If you don't slow down, I'll throw up.

Woody

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Especially if the temperature is over 80 degrees for me! :rotfl::rotfl: Made me smile! :)

I'm keeping the red for the non-DISers (tag-alongs). But the whole thing was too busy. And all the info was already on the lanyards - a bit redunandant. So I cleaned it up - I really wanted the 3 figures in the port holes to stand out, along with the ship & scroll (and sometimes Donald).

It's a lot easier to make this modification than it was to put all the names on the originals. (Mind you, I'm not complaining - I knew what I was getting myself into :goodvibes).

Here is the comparison (new on the left):

Love the less cluttered look but really I am with Woody on this one, leave it alone unless it is actually a stress reducer for you to work on something that you enjoy! That's me, never a problem to do the stuff I like to do, always a problem to do that which is not so much fun for me! :rotfl:

Wow. Do you remember yesterday (I think) when someone (sorry - I forgot who) reported that they'd been upgraded from an 11ADA to an 8ADA (I think) and their dm was upgraded too? Well, we got the abandoned 11ADA! I finally faxed in dh's medical form today, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Cool, huh? True, we lose our upgraded porthole, but I think we'll be so happy with a little extra room for the wheelchair, plus safety bars and all! So the new room is 7631 - whoa! Even on the party floor! I'll change it on the spreadsheets.

Thanks for the condolences on dinner. I ended up cooking a new identical dinner (frittata; everyone has eggs, potatoes and onions. Not like it was steak or something) and cleaned up the floor while the 2nd version cooked. All ended up fed and happy.

Goodnight, everyone
Ann

Awesome on the bigger cabin, extra space is plus!

Dinner sounded so yummy too, hhhmm thinking I have my dinner plan for tongiht! At our hosue we call that breakfast for dinner and the kiddos love it.

Hi Everyone,
I just discovered DIS! Though not new to Disney at all! We are going on our 5th Disney Cruise in a couple of weeks, Transatlantic.

Can you tell me how to get started on the magnets? I'm looking forward to chatting with you all and learning from your experiences.

I use the magnetic paper (available at most office supply stores) that are for ink jet printers. Pick from the wealth of Disney art and insert words. I use Microsoft Word or Publisher. Print and stick.

That will leave us plenty of shopping time! :yay:

I promised that I would pass on what I found out about the international calling cards. Went to Target last night and it was one type of international card. None that were for only certain countries. It was a $20 card. You can use it for both a land line and cell phone but your carrier might charge you an extra fee. I hope that helps anyone that was considering getting one. We did just in case, and worse case scenario that we don't use it... we have friends doing the Med. cruise two weeks after we get back and parents that are doing the WB Transatlantic so I am sure one of them could use it.

This is sounding like a good idea, I'm tired of trying to figure out all the extra fees for the cell plan. We have our DS22 who travels regularly in Europe so no problem if it's left over

Got (I think) all of the last minute stuff purchased, including a new outfit for me and a couple of shirts and a top for my DH. They had some great sales at Bealls. Now I have to figure out what we are taking and start packing. Oh I have a bunch of stuff in the suitcase but it is all thrown in willie-nillie.

I  Bealls, we don't have them up this way. My stuff is exactly the same~ willienillie!!

I DID finally spend 2 hours in my closet this morning sorting and trying on stuff and at least know what I have now if not what I will actually take. So far I have 5 black t-shirts, 2 pair black pants, 1 pair black capris, 2 black/white dressier tops, and a black formal dress "set aside" That's almost packed right? !:rotfl: Yeah, I obviously have issues with color! Never fear I will throw in some white and khaki too, that's sort of color right?

Lynne I like them both. :thumbsup2 You have done a great job!! Pick the one you like the most.

Lynne - what is our count up to? Also are you (or can you) make extra inserts with a white space in the center to have if we need to add someone - or maybe a simplified version with not so much ink that can be used for "extras" - just a thought but do not want to put any extra work on you so if you had not planned it don't worry about it.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Love it; well said. Thanks to ALL who have made this pre-trip so much fun.

Lynne,

Thank you for all your hard work.

But I know others join me in this sentiment: Do yourself a favor and keep simple.

No one will be happy if you burn out before the cruise.

Woody

I agree. Simple is great.

By the way, what are the measurements of the name tags? I'm thinking of making something for the back of the name tag.

You are doing a great job.

Kristi

Woody: your Portuguese of the day made me laugh out loud this morning.
Lynne: beautiful nametags-are you by chance procrastinating on doing taxes?

My current packing question: fit in the small fan we like for ambient noise in the room, or take it out to make room for small bottles of wine?

I vote for the wine :lmao:
