Bounce Back or Upgrade to AP

Headed to the World in October and I am thinking ahead to our NEXT trip (you all understand i know!)
So I am trying to decide:
Book a bounce back: probably free dining and push our return trip to November or December depending on what the dates available are. My youngest 2 kids have never been to Disney when it was in Christmas mode
Or
Upgrade to Annual Passes and head back early October. Obviously we wont get free dining but we could get a Room Only. We love Halloween at Disney!

I just dont know which is the better "deal". If something happens and we have to cancel or postpone the return trip I would be totally out the AP Upgrade. So that has me leaning toward a $200 deposit on the Bounceback.

We used to do bouncebacks all the time, but of late we've found that they're either not available for the times we want (too many black out dates), or they're really small discounts. So we've opted for APs, instead. We seem to get more value out of them, than we do out of the bounceback.

Maybe you should wait and see what the bounceback is, exactly, before you decide? That might make your decision for you. If I recall correctly, you can upgrade used tickets without losing any of their purchase value, if it is within 14 days of first use and there are days still remaining on the ticket. So while you are at Disney this October, you can check out the bounceback first, then upgrade.

Just curious what are the hotel discounts with an AP rate typically?

Last year in Nov. I booked on a bounce back room only for this August ( I have an AP too). I've been watching all the special offers, free dining 30% AP specials etc etc.
I even called CMs each time and they were shocked at the deal. I got much better savings with bounce back than any of the other offers including the AP savings.
I think it depends on what the offer is when you are there,
Good luck maybe it will be just the right combination of dates, offers etc!

The free dining bounce back for 2016 has already been released and the last day of the BB is Oct 1st. The room discount BB for 2016 typically comes out mid Oct.

If the BB offer is room only and you typically stay deluxe, that's a much better deal than free dining or an AP discount, as long as they're still offering 30-35% as a bounceback.

We are going this October on a a BB and we saved 35% off at the Grand Floridian. We saved over $1500.
