Bounce Back offers question

Hi Everyone,

Not quite sure where to put this question but..... I was wondering about Bounce Back offers. I've seen them mentioned and we went to Disney World for the first time ever this past January,obviously we want to go back again and was wondering when/how you get a bounce back offer. I am Canadian, so maybe we don't get them? Thanks for any help or advice on the subject.

Every single guest staying at a WDW resort can book a bounceback as long as one is offered (in all of our trips there was only one time there wasn't one and as far as I know that timeframe was the only time since the inception of bouncebacks that there wasn't one). These days it's in a booklet that comes with your welcome pack when you check in. Sometimes I think you may still find a big card in your room. If you can't find anything in your packet or in your room then you can dial ext 8844 from your room to get details. Do not call the front desk or go to the front desk or call CRO for info. You have to call ext 8844. The bounceback has to be booked the day you check out at the very latest though it can be done any time up until the phones close (maybe 10pm? I'm not sure).

I think we once had the the page describing the current offer in the paperwork we picked up from the front desk when we checked in. Some people have it left in their room on the day they check out. We usually ask about it and check these boards for someone to post the offer code & number to dial from your resort room phone. You can't always depend on the front desk or any specific CM knowing about it, because a lot of the time they have no info. We always book it if available, but usually find out through these boards.

If memory serves, the bounce back offer frequently has the White Rabbit on it, nervously checking his pocket watch. It is just a one page item, so it could be easily overlooked if you aren't checking for it.

Related question, do guests staying on DVC points get bounceback offers? We are renting points for our stay in May and was wondering if we may get a bounceback offer.

For a bounceback offer do you have to take the trip within that year? How long do you get for the offer?

The bounceback offer will have a bunch of dates associated with it. If past history is any indication, until mid-late August it'll be a room discount for select dates through mid-December 2013 at which time it'll switch to free dining for mid-August through late September or early October 2014. After that it's I think more often been a room discount for select dates the following year but I think in 2012 they continued the Aug-Sept free dining through October and maybe even into November before starting the room discount for 2013 all year dates for bouncebacks. I think your reservation can be for up to 14 nights.

I really don't know for sure if people staying using DVC points are eligible or not though I would imagine that they are. It's worth calling ext 8844 during your stay to find out.

Okay, thank you so much for all of the info everyone. I guess I must have overlooked it when we were there. I didn't know that a bounce back offer existed or I would have been looking for it. But with all of the reading material we were given obviously I probably missed it. Who has time to read when you are at Disney World, especially on a first trip? LOL.

We booked our April trip in January as a bounceback and the rate was significantly better than AP or FL Res rates for the same resort/same dates.

When I was there two weeks ago, the bouceback page was inside the welcome packet they give at the front desk. I actually left the page in my room when I switched rooms, and I just asked for a new welcome packet at the front desk. It's very easy to miss as it just looks like one of the many pages talking about the parks and the dining plans. The current offer only went up to the end of this year.

Be sure to have your current reservation number handy when you call - the CM will need it to verify you're currently a guest.

There's no telling when Disney will pull the current offer. Unlike discounts to the general public, there are no "book by" dates because you only have until the last day of your stay to book a bounce back offer.

You might want to do a search to see what the bounce back offers were last June. I was in Disney at the time and I know that there was one on the table of our villa, but I didn't pay much attention to it at the time since I was not planning another trip for at least another year. Something tells me that it only went thru the end of 2012 because I might have booked something if it went into the spring of 2013.

Yes, we got our free dining bounce back in our DVC room (that we had on points) last Aug.

If it's like last year, when you go in June it will probably still be the current room only BB for certain dates through December 2013, because last year the BB that was like the current BB offer was in the guest rooms until July 31.

So JMO I think you'll have a good chance of seeing this BB as previously posted by kind DISer canadakath.

You're most likely going to see the same bounce back which is currently being offered: a percentage off of the rack rate for the room which is based on the resort that you are staying at.

Can you couple the bounce back with a Disney promotion? We are going to POR in 3 weeks and if the current BB is a room discount and then later this year free dining comes out during my scheduled stay can you apply that too? Just curious?

No, you cannot stack discounts. Free dining must be booked as a package (room + tickets) and the room is always at rack rate.
