BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

Today, @aVASTGrl reported on the WL/VWL thread:

Here now, and the beach is officially closed. There are walls up around the Hidden Springs Pool, but it's still open, yay! Going for a swim there in a few hours. There's some scaffolding up on the Lodge rooms that face HS Pool, but construction noise seems to be minimal, and I haven't heard a peep from my southside inner courtyard room.

Just got back. I was very grateful to have had the week of open beach for the water pageant. The quiet pool and hot tub were also open this past week. Our inner courtyard room had no noise from any construction.

In other news, somewhere on a WL thread there was talk of the Club level CMs being disinterested and rude. I was on club level and must have seen different people. Every single one I encountered was kind, helpful, magical, and wonderful. I had a delivery issue with the florist and they went above and beyond looking for it. Our mousekeeper was just lovely and even found us with a belt which had been left before we checked out. So please don't judge Club at WL too harshly.

Glad to answer anything I can. Missing that Amarula cordial already.

Well after our first stay last year in October, we fell in love with WL and in April this year booked for October 2016..Last year the main pool was closed for a refurb and we received a gift voucher for $250 for any inconvenience from a CM which was very nice as it didn't spoil our vacation in anyway...However I'll be monitoring the situation as they no longer are taking any further bookings for 2016, and I've read on other sites some guests are getting a reduced rate per night on their stays..We paid an extra supplement for a woods view, but I'll give Disney a phone at the start of next year to check the situation..

How does one get s reduced rate due to construction? There is s room at CL that is suitable for my family. The price is too high though, especially given the construction. How do I negotiate a better deal. We are AP holders and I've visited at least sixty times. Not sure if that matters. Already booked at art of animation so this would be an upgrade for us and Disney in terms of dollars spent. Disney could also turn around and rent my current suite at rack rate instead of the AP discount I got. Win win no?

The only way to get the discount was to have a reservation before they announced construction.

Thank you so much for posting this newly revised map. I'm going to add it to POST 1 with credit to you. It's as if 50%+ of the outdoor amenities have gone POOF!
So the villa pool will be closed too? I'm so glad this past August while staying at Poly, we went for breakfast at Trails End then walked the lake side nature trail over to WL one last time. It's one of my favourite things to do even when I'm not staying at WL.

Shame the main pool will be a little more crowded for now. Nothing beats laying at the end of the "creek" and relaxing!

As of Sunday, @aVASTGrl girl reported that the VWL pool was still open, but at a time unknown, it will be closed and that area will be completely gutted.

That's a great spot to perch and admire the Lodge.

I was at Disney all of last week and failed to visit WL to see what's going on, so thank you for the photos. I'll be back at Disney in 4 weeks, and since the Christmas decorations will be up, I'll be sure and drop in for a peek.

I have read that there is still a running trail....is that right? My husband is training for a marathon and needs to run during our stay and want to make sure he has a safe place to run rather than the streets.

Yes, there are two trails that lead from WL over to the Fort Wilderness Campground (they join up at one point along the way) Only the path near the shore is closed due to construction. The one that is staying open is the better one for street running anyway as it is paved.

Someone posted on the VWL Groupie thread on Thursday that both the pool and beach were now closed. I was by there a week before and was quite surprised when I saw things were still open after they stated 26th date but things must be starting now. It would be great to get some pictures from someone! That map is really quite shocking with how much is gone for now. :(

My understanding is the paved path will remain open. I think its 2.5 miles to the campground, so a round trip wouldn't be to bad.

Looking forward to your update…and photos;)

Please see my reply below. WL-FW has the best jogging, IMHO. It's scenic, partly shaded and you can get a pretty good run in without going in circles.

That's correct that the path along Bay Lake is closed, but the concrete path remains open. While the sandy path is very scenic and serene, they don't spray for bugs over there so it gets VERY buggy, whereas the concrete path is fairly bug-free, but has the occasional woodland varmint;)

CLOSED path starting behind Teton:

It's actually about that far from WL and then around FW. It's less than half that distance from the start of the paved path to the end of it when you reach the stables at FW. After the path ends, you have to run on some wood chips past the ponies and cross over at the bus stop to the sidewalk and then run around FW.

Are the hot tubs staying open? We are heading there December 6th for a week and hoping they will be open.
