BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

Rooms numbered 1000-1003, 2000-2003, etc, face Bay Lake. The rooms numbered 1000 and 1003, 2000 and 2003, etc are deluxe rooms. I'm not sure what the booking category would be for rooms numbered 1001 and 1002, 2002 and 2002, etc but they aren't deluxe rooms.

Rooms numbered 1004-1034, etc, would be woods view rooms facing Otter pond.
Cheers for that..The official map I'm looking at shows the room numbers that I mentioned are in the same building, with half of them facing the main pool and the other half facing otter pond..I did request a high floor at the time of booking...I was thinking that rooms like 1004-1034 were maybe on the lower floor..?..Last trip our room number was 6136 which was high up and facing the DVC ...

Yes, room like 1004-1034 are on the first floor. I should have clarified that the even number rooms face Otter Pond and the odd numbers face the courtyard. If you get a room number that has a 1 in the second digit, like 1105 or 4128, then it is in the south wing. The odd numbers for the south wing face the main courtyard and the even numbers for the south wing face the villas area.

Will there be any beachfront/ sandy area once this project is completed?
I'm curious to know for sure, as well; however, based on the footprint of the new building, I'd say the likelihood is slim. The plans, such as they are, don't show enough detail to exclaim with any certainty, however.

I was on the bus to MK on Sunday, and was pretty surprised by how much of WL is visible from the road now that the woods have been cleared out.

That is so sad to hear. One of the best parts of WL was the level of seclusion the resort had from the rest of WDW. I'm hoping they replant the trees after construction is complete.

I agree! Without the trees it will lose so much of its charm. But Disney is great at ambiance, so hopefully replanting is in the plans.

We are here from October 9th till 23rd, but already paid a supplement for a woods view when we booked, way back in April of last year...Loved the views from DisneyJenK room...What area or better still, room number did you have.?.From what I've read I reckon the Otter Pond woods view is what we are after..

I was in room 3034, just off the elevator

I don't know if this is the right place to ask or not, but do we know what work they're doing on the main building right now? Are they converting rooms to DVC? Or is this going to be a full refurbishment on regular resort rooms? Or maybe both?

Thanks!

While Disney hasn't officially said much in the way of details, their press release is revealing: The planned project at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, when completed, will be the 14th Disney Vacation Club development and the second at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Current plans call for the resort to feature deluxe accommodations, including waterfront cabins. In addition to the Disney Vacation Club project, other guest areas within Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are scheduled to undergo substantial enhancements and refurbishment, including new recreation and food and beverage options. More information and project details will be shared at a later date. (Thanks to Granny for his astute observation from which I'm borrowing.)

While there may be both a refurbishment and conversion going on at the same time, it's more likely that the south wing will now be all DVC as part of VWL Part Deux. I would also make a sound deduction that those conversions will include studios, 1BRs, and 2BRs.

Totally agree. It's VERY likely that the ENTIRE South wing will become DVC. Not just a marketing decision....

DVC pretty much requires a Property Description - as in, what exactly is "yours". Let's focus on just the ROOF of the South Wing... we could bring in Heating, Air, Hallways.... Just the ROOF for now.
The issue - convert half the floors.... who is responsible for the roof?

While the whole thing COULD be a "shared facility"? Oh lord - I would not want to be the accountant trying to figure that out :). Easier to make it ALL DVC, then rent out WDW owned points.
The only surprise to us was the "conversion" of an ATTACHED BUILDING - We thought that the GF would do this first, as they a DETACHED BUILDING model.

I think everyone is off on the DVC conversion. I do not think that any of the south wing will be converted to DVC. I believe that the rooms are being converted to accommodate 5 people - that is missing at this Deluxe. The

Humphrey's FB page is reporting that the SW scaffolding is down. Could this mean that it is reopening soon?

The exterior work is most likely not linked to the interior work. Inner walls are still down from a post I saw within the last two weeks on another thread, and that was just to bottom floor.

When there just four weeks ago, they were still pulling sheet rock, boards, and other interior elements from the rooms. They were stripping them way down. Can't see any possibility of them re-opening soon, nor does it make much sense to not put DVC suites in the south wing. As another poster mentioned, the second VWL resort (14th overall) is simply going to consist of 26 cabins? Hmmm, not likely.
