BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

Good Morning -
I was able to get this earth view snapshot of Wilderness Lodge that was taken as of 2-5-2016. I think the exterior construction is becoming more clear now. My interpretation of this clearly shows that yes, indeed, they appear to be prepping the (old) beach area for what I have heard will be a Bar/Grill or Restaurant type building in this area. The land to the north of the lodge along Bay Lake certainly appears to be cleared for more than just the Water Side Cabins but also some type of potential parking area, possibly even a small parking garage from documents that we revealed earlier by wdwkook. It just appears to me that this amount of cleared land was not necessary for just cabins. And as we all know with the "old" Quiet Pool demolished, the adjacent land clearing would certainly suggest a larger pool footprint along with the hot tubs, community hall and whatever else in additional buildings certainly seems to have a large amount of land to build this now. Anyways, thought you all would be interested in seeing what is up from this perspective at the Lodge.

Thank you for posting your overhead imagery @DisneyDad61:)

Here are some more aerial photos of the construction at the Wilderness Lodge.

Thank you for posting the link to more overhead imagery @DVC Mike. The property looks so barren.

Anyone know if they moved the club level lounge out of hallway yet?

It was just reported on the WL thread that the OFC "lounge" is still in the corridor and has not yet been moved to the VP Suite as rumored.

Is that all the info it gave. Does it say it's a month behind or did they decide not to move it?

@Wood Nymph reported this on Wednesday so it's possible that since then it's moved. When she stayed there last month, staff told her that they had hoped to have the CL service moved to the VP Suite by the end of this month. I did find a permit to install some flashing alarms in the VP Suite so that would indicate that they were making some adjustments, and should eventually move, but as of Wednesday, they hadn't.

If you've booked a CL reservation at the OFC, you can email the IPO, who are actually located at Poly, and ask them about the status of the move to the VP Suite. It's possible they may even have an estimate as to when the permanent lounge, which will be located in the two Honeymoon Suites, will be finished. As of yet, we don't have an estimate.

I think I forgot to :welcome: you earlier to the DIS and we're honored your first post was here on our little thread:)

Just reading through this great thread, do we know for sure that the south wing rooms are all being converted into DVC, and also do we have any idea of when that will be finished? Also, what about the 'rumour' re. DVC and club level, is that happening?

DVC has announced nothing. However, the economics are pretty compelling, so we'll have to see. It will be a while, given that they're removing interior walls.

I am here now - club level. I was nervous reading through these posts, but everything had been wonderful so far! I am so happy that we stayed here again.

The lounge is in the hall - but it's not bad. They will get whatever else we need - even running down stairs to get cartons of milk. Beer anytime, etc.

We have never had to wait for the elevators, always have been empty when they open up.

There were a couple of workers on the Villas roof yesterday, the noise was really minimal - Haven't heard anything else.

This is where the food/drinks are set up. They keep replenishing everything - they use cast member room near by.

The Chairs and TV are still set up all along the wall.

You can see that the "hall" is actually blocked off from the closed off section - So it is sort of a room with a view of the lobby

I have booked a 2 bedroom villa for our stay in september. Is there a specific room I should request and are there elevators in the villas section. I don't like staying on the ground level and we will have an toddler with a stroller, so an elevator will be helpful

DD was in the Villas in November in Room 4524...but it was a one-bedroom. It was a very short walk from the elevator and faced the walkway to the bus stop. With a 2-bedroom booked, this room number won't help you but yes, there are elevators. :tink:

In general, specific room number requests are hard to get, but I can assure you there are numerous rooms from floors 2-5 near the elevator. However, the hallways at the Villas aren't interminably long in comparison to other resorts (AKV comes to mind). I would request a higher floor room near the elevators. Good luck!

It's never too early for a good rumor, so I will pass along what a guide at the Poly Show Center told us when we went over to look at the bungalows there. When we asked about the south wing at the Lodge, he knew nothing of note, naturally, but when I pressed him with a follow up question regarding if there would be just studios such as Poly had done, his response was, ". . .they learned their lesson about not building one and two bedroom suites at Poly." Take from that what you will. ;)
