BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

When there just four weeks ago, they were still pulling sheet rock, boards, and other interior elements from the rooms. They were stripping them way down. Can't see any possibility of them re-opening soon, nor does it make much sense to not put DVC suites in the south wing. As another poster mentioned, the second VWL resort (14th overall) is simply going to consist of 26 cabins? Hmmm, not likely.
Possibly, but if they convert the entire SW to DVC, and the NW will have courtyard views and theme park views, what does that leave them with for standard rooms? 10 available? I don't see that happening either.

They won't offer Theme Park views as a bookable category, once the cabins are in the trees will be replaced and as they grow you will lose the view.

Standard view rooms will be the ones overlooking the service area, woods view will go back to what it was (with possible partial theme park view from woods view rooms) and courtyard doesn't change.

Thats my expectations anyway.

My 60-day window for online check-in opens tomorrow. I'm not planning to request anything special for our CY view room, just 5th floor. Should I go ahead and do online check-in this far out or wait and see if construction might change any requests?

You can do Online Check In now and not make any requests. Then as you get closer you can either phone in your requests or go back and make selections online.

We check in 11 days, what is the status on the pools & marina area? Does anyone know ?
The Hidden Springs pool no longer exists, but the main pool is open (along with the new-ish kids' splash zone). If by marina you mean the boat rental, it's closed. If you mean the boats to CR, FW, and MK, they still run as they did in the past. No issues there, either.

The villa pool and beach area are still "under improvement" (closed until further notice). The rest of the resort is looking good though. Still hoping to hear the Mickey, Buffalo and geese topiaries have been returned, but think we might have a few more weeks to go before we see them again, assuming they have been brought into Disney's greenhouse for some tlc.

Great thanks !! We have a 2bdrm villa ! But walking to main pool isn't that far , so we will be fine.

My 6 yr old is just over 48 in, will they allow him into splash zone to play with his 3yr old brother, as long as he behaves himself ?

My seven year old grandson didn't have any problems joining his five year old sister and both of them were over 48 inches. I think they don't want big kids and adults playing in the water.

Anyone have any pictures of new lounge
:sail:
No one has posted any yet to the WL/VWL thread. Just so there's no confusion, this is a temporary location while the new lounge is being built where currently sit the two North Wing Honeymoon suites.

Any recent photos of the construction? Particularly interested to know if the courtyard scaffolding is still up.

Sorry if this has been asked. Does anyone have pictures of OFC in the hallway -- or wherever it is now (CL thread says its still in the hallway; this thread says it's been moved)? I am just finding out it was relocated and construction is being done in that area. I got a letter from Wilderness Lodge about construction elsewhere and I was already aware of that and okay with it. But I was not aware the CL lounge was moved or construction was going on at that level. I haven't been since last summer. We really loved it. I am just hoping it is not too much of a construction zone up there though.

  • The entire South Wing is closed, including the elevators, CL reception area and lounge.
  • The OFC lounge was in the hallway up until about a week ago when it was moved to the VP Suite.
  • The new permanent OFC lounge will be located where the two North Wing Honeymoon suites sit. A completion date is not publicly known at this time.

Feel free to either email or call the WL IPO (located at Poly) and they will answer any questions you might have. No one has posted any VP Suite lounge photos yet, but when the lounge was located in the corridor, there were items that were no longer offered and/or were no longer self-service. We don't know how this has changed since it moved to the VP Suite, but you could certainly ask the IPO.

I am having to move my Swan reservation-- and the dates I need to switch to are sold out. So, I'm looking elsewhere. WL has a pretty good deal, so I'm looking at a standard room. Can someone tell me about the ongoing construction, noise, mess, room conditions, etc. We usually stay at Contemporary or GF.

You will find a lot of info on this thread, but to summarize the key points affecting a stay in 2016:
The following amenities are closed:
  • Boat Rentals
  • Beach
  • Playground
  • Campfires and Movies on the beach (Moves inside of VWL)
  • Villas Pool
  • Spa
  • Kids Club
  • Workout Room
  • Elevators in the Lobby and South Wing
  • The Club Level lounge has been moved temporarily to the Vice Presidential Suite.
Also half of the main building is currently closed during the construction, so only rooms in the North wing of the main building and the entire DVC Villas building are being used. This results in lower crowds overall at the resort.
On the plus side, the following amenities are still open:
  • The main pool, hot tubs, and kids splash area
  • Boat transportation to MK and CR and Fort Wilderness
  • All Restaurants (Roaring Fork QS, WCC TS, and Artist Point Signature TS)
  • Bus transportation to all parks (Including the quick 5 min direct trip to MK)
  • The North Wing bank of elevators which are located next to Roaring Fork
Many guests who have visited recently reported little to no issues with noise, but construction is visible and you may hear work during the day. This will vary as the project progresses, since it is quite a big project that involves adding buildings along the shoreline both North and South of the current resort. During the construction it appears that "Standard View" is anything that isn't courtyard view, so you likely would face towards the Magic Kingdom which can give a nice view of fireworks. We are looking forward to WL in September, but knowing what to expect will help keep us from being surprised or disappointed by the construction.

When is your trip? It might be a great chance for you to give WL a try and will let you be way closer to MK than you would be at the Swan. Good luck with your choice.
