I grabbed a night at Boulder Ridge for November (fingers crossed). I keep reading that the rooms are outdated. What does that mean when it comes to Disney? I can't imagine the rooms are in disrepair. For someone who likes the Copper Creek rooms, will I be disappointed? Thank you!

BRV was going to start a full refurb this summer, which is likely now postponed indefinitely.

I can't imagine the rooms are in disrepair.

DVC units run at 95%+ occupancy and get banged up. BRV is no different.

As far as outdated, people are generally referring to the tile pattern and color scheme at BRV. If you like the modernism of CCV you probably won't like the existing BRV decor.

My sister stayed in a BRV 1BR in February and said the villa was in the worst condition of any that she has stayed in. She has stayed at SSR many times (most recently 2018), BLT a few times, VGF and Poly.

The SSR villa in 2018 showed typical wear and tear, but she said their BRV villa this year was in much worse condition. She was very disappointed. It was not that it was outdated for her (it is outdated, but she didn’t mind), it was more that the condition of the villa was pretty bad.

As an original VWL owner, I have a special place in my heart for BRV. Even with needing repair, it has so much more character than CCV ( I am a CCV owner BTW). I would not hesitate staying at BRV now or in the future. The resort has so much to offer.

You're only staying one night. I might reconsider if it was for the whole week, but I love the resort.

If you want to know more about the disrepair, just watch Pete's review of his stay there with The Dis.

We just stayed in a one bedroom at BRV (VWL, we bought in 2000) about a year ago and the villa was in great shape. Bed was comfortable, sofa was good for sitting (we don't use the sleeper sofas except when our son joins us). I loved the old checked curtains (similar to the red and white flannel shirts every one loves), all the forest green and dark red but those were removed in the 2014 renovation. For our last trip, much of the Northwest National Parks (ala Yellowstone) design seemed to be gone and replaced with more Native American décor. The bedroom was a lot less themed and more bland. Similar to CCV but not so much IKEA.

Long-time VWL owner here. Yes, CCV is newer and shinier. . .modernistic and rather bland, as well. Some rooms in VWL, as in any long-standing resort, will show some age. Most are just fine: clean, in good repair, and nicely themed still. Yes, VWL was due a refurb where it was likely going to become shiny and new and bland. I don't care for bland even if it's newer--give me theming any day. I recently stayed at a Residence Inn home suite, and while nice enough, it had the same boring lines and color scheme as Disney now follows in their quest to meet "industry standard." Well, they've succeeded. . .shame because they used to set the standard. Beyond that, for just one night, give it a try. You might appreciate the quiet beauty of the place. You won't know until you stay. ;)

It's not white subway tile, gray cabinets and weathered gray flooring so yes, I guess it's "dated". ;)

It's been subdued enough in it's last refurb from what it originally was but it's one resort that still has a bit of theme. Regarding room condition there's reports all the time from resorts where someone has gotten a horrible room. Sometimes there's pictures showing and sometimes we don't really know what the "horrible" was. Still, it rarely is symbolic of the entire DVC resort - just an odd room here and there. If there's something terribly wrong with the room you call maintenance to repair. They've tended to be very responsive when we've had something that needed fixing at other DVC resorts. Haven't had to call at BRV for anything more than TV remote batteries. They brought a new remote instead.
