Hiya! I'm staying at Boulder Ridge for the first time in September. I have a 1 BR booked and am trying to figure out what to request. I'm leaning to ask for Lake View, 4th floor as the low hanging ceilings and enclosed balconies on the 5th floor seem less than ideal. I'd love to be able to see the water pagent from my balcony. BUT I'm super intrigued by room 5519 with its weird shape. This leaves me with 2 questions.

1. Has anyone stayed in 5519 and can talk about it and/or share photos?
2. Any general 1 BR room request advice?

Thanks!

Haven’t stayed in 5519 but we did have room 5533 last year and loved it. The angled ceilings add charm IMHO and the continuous balcony was incredible, we spent a lot of time out there. I also loved that it is a dedicated 1bed, so quiet. It’s the first room down the hallway, lakeside.

This is really helpful. Thank you. Seems like fourth or fifth floor x19, x23, x33 are the ones I would want.

We have stayed in room 4541 (nice view of Bay Lake and nightly parade) and 5523 (fifth floor balcony not optimal IMO). We always request odd-numbered rooms at BRV, but have only had our requests fulfilled twice. The even-numbered rooms are fine, but we never had any view to speak of. I think you’ll enjoy BRV. It is newly (about a year now) renovated and they did a great job with it. It’s a great resort. :goodvibes

OH! Can you tell me what you did not like about 5523?

We loved 4523, it is a lake view and close to the elevators. There is a linen room on one side, so no noise from other guests (and we never heard the housekeepers going in or out). If you look up that room on Touring Plans, I posted some photos of the view. That has been our favorite 1BR so far.

It looks like a pretty perfect room. Just keep wondering about the weirdly shaped 5519 😂

It was a great room! We avoid the 5th floor at BRV because of the ceilings and now the lack of Murphy beds. Supposedly the new pull out sofas are decent for sleeping, prior to the renovation, they were not!

The room was fine except for the balcony - high walls, so that if you’re seated, you can’t see anything of the view (if there is one ;) ). I couldn’t see anything even while standing, but I’m not very tall. Even with no view, we do like to enjoy the balcony, but looking at a wall was not very inviting. (And this was in 2018, not a recent stay, so the unit was beginning to show signs of needing refurbishment, but nothing egregious.). Our most recent BRV stay was last August in a 2-bedroom unit (even-numbered room) on the 2nd floor. It was terrific and we’re returning again in January. :woohoo:

Oh hmmm. So the balconies are just higher on the fifth floor? That's weird.

I believe the issue is what is referred to as a closed balcony. There are no slats, just solid walls. You cant see anything across or down when sitting. If you want to see anything other than sky you have to stand up.

5533 has a railing rather than the closed balcony. I believe it might just be the rooms in the 5th floor atrium section that have closed balconies.

Yea looking at recent room tour videos this doesn't look to be the case for all fifth floor rooms. DO you think it's fifth floor atrium only or all atrium?

We stayed in 5519 about twenty years ago. If I remember right the bedroom balcony had the enclosed balcony, definitely couldn’t see anything if sitting out there. But the balcony of the living room had the regular railing, I’m pretty sure.

At the time the sofa bed was backed up to the half wall that divided the living room from the kitchen. They have probably switched to a Murphy bed on the outside wall, not sure. But we loved that room and the different configuration.

Thank you!

My understating is due to the ceilings all the fifth floor rooms still have pull outs and not Murphy beds.

Oh, interesting. Also, I don’t remember that room having the vaulted ceiling. We had a regular room, 5th floor, a couple of years ago that had the vaulted ceiling.

I think I have video of the room, I’ll have to see if I can find it to double check.

Oh man that would be awesome if you can find the video. Thanks!
