So yesterday we booked the flight for our group of 12 from ORD to MCO in November on United. Checked today and tickets are $27 per person higher. I realize there's a lot of time between now and when we go and prices will probably go up and down during that time but just in case I'm glad we booked when we did.

We are going to Alaska this summer. I booked round trips (ORD -> ANC -> ORD) on United when the fares first came out. Within a couple of days they went up by over $450 per person. I'm quite happy!

It's possible your group of 12 maxed out the lower rate. Therefore, as soon as you completed your purchase, the next person who bought a ticket for your flights paid $27 more.

Glad you bought then!

Now stop checking! You booked with United, and they have change fees. So IF by chance the rates go down, unless it's beyond the cost of the change fees, you're out of luck.

:)

I wondered about that too. When we did seat assignments practically the whole plane was available so on the one hand I wouldn't think so but on the other hand I have no idea how many are available at each level or where the different price tiers are. So I don't know if the price available now IS the next tier up, or if it reflects an increase in the tier I bought.

Glad you bought then!

I figure Ihave to think about this like when I buy a car. If I feel like I got a good deal I don't care if 2 weeks later I hear about someone else getting a better deal, the fact is that I'm happy with the deal I got and wasn't willing to put up with any more risk considering every dollar it could go up was a dollar x12.

I have an unexpected trip coming up next week, I got tickets for 119.00 each way. The day after I booked it went up 235.00 each way. I'm glad I was impulsive the very minute I was asked to help my in-laws and bought tickets at that moment.:goodvibes
