Bought The Mr. Coffee Kurig Coffee Maker - So Disappointed

We have the Mr. Coffee version to take with us to WDW as our travel size maker. We have a countertop Keurig Platinum at home. The large size on the Platinum makes 10 oz. Remember than a "cup" of coffee is only 6 oz. I'm pretty sure the large size on the Mr. Coffee version also makes 10 oz, but if you are trying to fill a 20 oz travel mug of course it is going to look puny and half-full... beacuse it is only half-full!

There are dozens, nay, hundreds of varieties of K-cup coffees. Try some others. The samples that come in the box are not great. My standards are the Green Mountain Sumatran Reserve (dark and earthy), the Donut Shoppe regular bold, and the Green Mountain Nantucket blend. The Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, and some of the other Green Mountain are also good.

You can find sample packs or variety boxes on a number of websites, including the Keurig website, and try the ones that sound good to you from the reviews and descriptions.

Golf4food makes a great point. I'm not assuming this about the OP, but in general I think we tend to forget that we live in a super sized world. I used to drink 3 "cups" of coffee per day. Then I got a larger mug. Now I drink one "cup" per day! When I visit my grandmother and make myself some coffee, I look at her tiny little cups and remember that's the standard size! In some cases it's just a matter of perspective.

I don't have Keurig but Espresso maker. But the same thing would happen to me if I didn't use finely ground coffee beans or i didn't pack them tight. Espresso needs to generate certain amount of pressure in order to brew it right.

I'd open one K-Cup very carefully and see how the coffee is packed and ground. But first, make sure that the reusable k-cup filter is compatable with your machine.

Maybe enough Keurig folks are on this thread to help me out. I have the Cuisenart Keurig Technolgy machine. I have found that by using Starbucks cups and an 8 ounce setting that it tastes like real coffee. Anyway, my issue is the brewer. It acts like a lazy child. Eventually I will get my cup but it might take 30 minutes of coaxing. Sometimes it brews immediately. Others, after sounding like it will start, it goes back to open head. I have learned at that point to rescue my unused K cup and know things are going to get ugly.

I open and push brew again. Generally nothing. Them maybe nothing and the up and down arrows illuminate, but no option to brew. I unplug, turn off and on, do incantations, call my husband in to "fix" it and he goes through the magic steps as well. Then finally an option for a 12 ounce cup appears. I 'brew' the 12 ounces with no cup in. Then reinstall my precious Starbucks pack and get my cup of coffee. Once it works that time, I am safe for future cups that day.

I have de scaled. I have cleaned filters. I have cleared every hole in every needle and opening with a paper clip.

I think I just need a new one to save my morning sanity, but I know y'all are geniuses with these things. I called Keurig since they sell this model. But since its Cuisenart, they said to call that company. If you've ever tried that fun, then you know why I'm asking her.

We bought the Mr. Coffee Keurig at Target and we love it. DS has a regular Keurig for college and I can't see a difference between the two when brewing.

I don't think all Keurig machines are created equal. I have a B60 for the house and it has 3 settings. My medium setting fills a standard cup and tastes great with a medium strength brew (like a flavored coffee.) I have to use a large mug or travel mug with the tallest setting and I use that for dark roasts since I like the flavor but it's too strong for me unless I use the extra water. I also make some guests the tallest cup if they like their coffee weaker. I only use the shortes setting for hot cocoa.

I have another machine for our RV. It is the type you see in a hotel room. Only one setting. Seems similar to my medium setting on the B60...maybe a little taller. It works fine for everything too. If I make dark roasts in it, I add lots of milk for my taste preference.

I have never noticed a temperature problem with either. Always plenty hot!

To resolve your temp problem, it may be just as easy to warm your cup with some hot tap water before you make your coffee. Pouring hot coffee into your cold cup will cool it off fast.

I have the Keurig with the reservior that holds water, and there are three size settings on it. The biggest one does not fill my over-sized mug, but the middle one fills a regular size mug with enough room in it for cream, and the biggest size fills it to the top, basically. If I want to fill my over-sized mug I make a stronger roast, and run the middle setting twice on the same cup.

I have the same Keurig. I use a large mug (take out the drip tray so it fits) and run 2 large settings with 1 K-cup. I like weaker coffee and I use a bold roast, usually Kona if I can find it.

I have a mini Kuerig (the kind where you have to add water for each cup) and use the Ekobrew brand re-useable filters, and they work well. I don't like my coffee too strong, though.

I have never been happy with the keurigs. I tried two of them to be sure it wasn't a malfunction. It's not hot enough or strong enough for me and I didn't like sediment in the bottom of my cup. Bold cups were too bitter for me. I like a strong, hot, large cup of coffee that is not bitter.

So what does everyone think if I try this? The water resevior on my Mr. Coffee Keurig holds enough for 2 cups.....what if I fill to the max line as directed (which is not the whole total space of the water resevior), use a bigger mug, and run the brew 2x's using the SAME k-cup coffee insert?

I would think it would be *very* weak! I love my Keurig (Mr. Coffee is not Keurig, even though it uses the basic cups and technology) I use the 10oz. setting and it fills my large mug about 2/3 full which is enough for me. I also use the refillable Solofil cup which gives me my regular coffee when I want it. It's a win-win situation for me - works great - coffee very hot!

Tried using the K-cup twice like you said - made the whole thing not drinkable it was so weak
