Bought Saturday, more pts today!

Congrats. Way to go and Welcome Home.

I have also received advice from numerous posters here in the past about the advantages of having multiple contracts w/smaller point totals.

It strikes us as good counsel given freely and sincerely. :thumbsup2

We are going to have 2 contracts (each with 210pts), in the next few months. We purchased the first one 2 weeks ago. They will be sized the same and have the same UY (not sure if they will be at the same resort though- we are leaning towards AKV for the 2nd). Our primary intent is to pass these contracts on to our two sons when they reach maturity (this could take a while  ). Until then, twice yearly hello WDW!

Also, just in case something catastrophic happens, it will be easier to dump smaller contracts I suppose (although this is of small import to us frankly).

Thanks for all of the responses and information. My wife is really resistant to breaking up the contract into smaller chunks at different resorts. I'm not entirely clear why, but she just won't go for it.

Couple more questions that may help convince her that all these DIS'ers can't be wrong!
If we have 400 pts at AKV and 160 pts at SSR, are all of the points available in one pot to take a Disney Cruise?

If we have the same pts as above and we want to book a 2 bdroom for 10 days at SSR 11 months prior to the trip, do we have to have all of the pts available at the time of reservation, because we wouldn't have enough if the pts just came from our SSR pot. We would have enough if we could combine our SSR and AKV pts.

Does that make sense?

Thanks again

Oh..and my cat's name is Iggi. ;)

You can use all the points for your cruise from different resorts at the same time - but each resort can only be used at the 11 month mark for that particular resort.

I would keep the same resort but definitely split the contracts, at least in half.

Good Luck and enjoy all the planning!

We have cruised four times w/dcl using a combination of points and cash each time (different scenario each time too).

Not sure you are understanding what they are telling you about splitting the points up. Everyone is telling you to breakup the contract you have into smaller ones but they will all be at the same resort with same UY not at different resorts.

If you purchase 400 at AKV then you can get 4 100 contracts or 2 200 contracts all same contract number and UY. Then if you ever have to sell you can sell one part and keep the others. A large contract is harder to sell if in a few years you need to sell. 4 100 point contracts will sell quicker.

Thanks! That does help.
