I am very fortunate that DS hasn't had diaper rash. I have used Desitin a few times when his bottom was a little red. I have seen the butt paste, though.

I never had very good luck with the Desitin, Balmex and other creams that contained Zinc Oxide. I used the Butt Paste and the Dr. Smith's with very good results. I think they both contain some form of petroleum jelly. One time I ran out and I just used Vaseline and it was ok.

My younger sister had a baby shower a couple of weeks ago and I bought her some Butt paste. Her and her husband also thought it was hilarious. I saw that they are also selling the Soothie Pacifiers in Target now. I had to buy mine online because NOBODY was carrying them.

I only used a pacifier one time for DD. I had to send DH to the store at 4 am to get it because I didn't have any in the house. I don't plan on using one with this baby either, but I definitely want one (or a couple) on hand in case I get desperate like last time.

What is a Soothie pacifier? Why is it better than other kinds? I have no knowledge of the different types. Thanks.

The soothie's are the green one piece pacifiers that most hospitals use. They meet the Academy of Pediatrics standards. They are one piece and made of silicone, not latex.

Get outta here, I too ordered soothies online. Luckily DD#2 doesn't use it much so the ones from the hospital are lasting. I always lost DD#1's because they roll away when she would drop them.
