Bottom dollar just opened how excited should I be?

Bottom Dollar just opened about 5 mins from my house, how excited should I get over this? Do they had good deals with coupons?

You should have received a coupon book already. Bottom Dollar is similar to Aldi. Unlike Aldi, they have national brands as well as generic brands. The produce is cheap. They take manufacture coupons but don' t double. They do give out their own coupons as well.

You have to bring your own bags. They don't have a deli or a stand alone pharmacy.

You have to bag your own groceries. That being said, I have tons of grocery stores near me: Genaudi's, Shoprite, Wegmans, Pathmark are all within a mile of me (you can probably guess where I live) . I don't make bottom dollar my first choice, but sometimes it is more conveinent than the other stores.

I think there prices are high. The things in the ad are okay but everything else I can get cheaper at the grocery store.

I have one right by my house that is across from a Food Basics and I almost always go to Food Basics instead. They do have good deals sometimes but they are a very,very basic store. I just go when they have good stuff really cheap like Coke 12pks for 1.88 or chicken wings for less than a dollar a pound.

I wouldn't get too jacked up if I were you.

Bottom Dollar--part of the Food Lion chain?

We have some near by...but I thought I saw something that they were closing/switching back to Food Lion or something?

Anyway, I'm not a fan. They have very poor selection--like juice boxes, there would only be 3 different types, as opposed to 20+ at other stores. It was like that with all products, only about 1/10 of the selection of most stores. I didn't think the prices justified the poor selection. They seemed pretty consistent with other stores prices.

Eggs seems to be the cheapest around at 98 cents a dozen
Milk (skim) gallon was 2.6x, whereas Wegmans is 2.56

It's not my first go to store, but if I am in that area I may get something there as compared to the Wegmans parking lot.
They do have a limited selection. Usually only two/three things of things. The local store only has like four aisles. I will say produce is cheaper there as compared to Produce Junction.

I really don't like the bring a bag and bag your own groceries at the counter stores. This is better than Aldi, but still very similar. The difference is that you don't have to pay for the cart like you do at Aldi.

They do give away a lot of coupons, spend $20 get $10 off.

I forgot to add that Acme, Aldi plus a full grocery Target are within 2 miles.

I can't imagine even traveling more that 5 minutes to a grocery store.

I can't imagine being able to travel only 5 minutes to a grocery store. We drive 29 miles to the closest

Occasionally there's a really good deal, but I don't go there on a regular basis because overall I get better prices and variety elsewhere.
Plus, I just can't get too excited about a food store with the word "Bottom" in its name.

We had one open near us too. The sale items , the produce and the meat on sale are good prices. T-bone or porterhouse steaks were just under $5/lb this week and boneless skinless chicken breast was I believe $1.48lb. last week. Pepsi 12 packs were on sale this week for $2.48. We received coupons in the mail one per week for 4 weeks for $10 off of $20 purchase and also when I check out there they have printed out more coupons with varying amounts. I liked it for the odds and ends and sale items, but it will not be a store that I get everything at. As others have said Aldi with some brand name items and box everything yourself.

I was there once and wasn't that impressed. As someone mentioned they didn't have a huge selection of items and I didn't find the prices any better than Target or Walmart.

Guess I'm the weird one here! I love Bottom Dollar and actually drive further to get to it! Their everyday prices on their brand stuff is cheaper than Giant or Wegmans brand plus I think it tastes better. We go through alot of cereal (look at my siggy!) It is a go to snack for my kids. With the older ones you only get 2-3 servings from a box (thanks MIL for buying us those HUGE cereal bowls for Christmas! ) The meat is a great deal when they have sales, and I can't find chips any cheaper unless I go to Sams club and then I walk out with $300 worth of stuff!

I can't wait until the new one opens a mile from my house!
