Hi all :)

Just wondering if you think this would be possible? The last time I was in universal was back in 2008 and I remember only spending a day there, we had express passes and we got a shuttle from international drive, it was a busy day but we did everything we wanted to however Wwhp wasn't there at the time, and I'm guessing quite a bit has changed since then.

We go again to orlando in June and we will be staying on site without a car, headache 1 for getting to universal.
DBf wants to do KSC, which takes another day out of the schedule, headache 2 again the issue being the car in my opinion. (Keeping in mind we are only there for 10 nights.)

What do you guys think? Should I sacrifice a disney day for another day at universal to do it comfortably or have one action packed day in universal?
In essence even though we are there for 10 nights if you take the travel days out of it you are looking at 8 days with 2 already being taken.....
I really don't know what to do as I have already got the disney 14 day ultimate tickets so part of me thinks it would be nuts to go to further expense to do two days in universal???

What would you do if you were in this situation ?

We've done both parks in a day twice. :) Once during a quiet time of year and once during busy Easter - that time we bought fotl passes.

We've always done everything we wanted. Started in US then ate lunch in CityWalk before heading over to IoA. :)

You'll be tired but I prefer it to losing Disney time. Xx

Also - both times we've got a deal where it's $99 for a 2park ticket and a transfer from Disney hotel. Let me see if I can find it. Xx

Oh my goodness that would be amazing!!!

As that is exactly what I'm looking for at the moment :) thanks a million :)

We usually end up doing both parks in one day, though I will admit we do this a couple times during our trip. We do pretty much what Torsie has suggested. We do US first, lunch at CityWalk and then on to IOA.

If it was me I'd outline a list of things I definitely wanted to do over at US/IOA, a list of things I'd do if we get time and a list of things we don't mind skipping. When your there stick to a plan to avoid wasting time walking and you should be good.

We've never had a problem fitting in everything we've wanted to but that may have been because we went during quiet times. It's definitely do-able.

Brilliant info!!
Thank you both :)

Defo going to book the tickets through that link!! Phew that's another weight off my shoulders now I can just be happy knowing that ill keep off site trips to a minimum lol :)

Any 2 parks can be done in a day, some fit 4 Disney parks in one day, its what you want to do when in there.
Personally we couldn't do it but the first time we went in Harry Potter we spent about half a day just in there.
I couldn't spend that kind of money and cram both in one day, with tax its $148.04, over £90, only a few £ more you can get 14 day tix, OK transport ontop but I would keep it for another trip rather than rush around in a day.
As I said, its what you want to do in there, we are not into rushing and skipping things.

Yes, it CAN be done but...

I totally agree with Wayne. For us, the Universal parks are well worth spending more time in. Unless you plan to buy the Express Pass, I think you will struggle to do more than a handful of rides in each park and, if you plan to visit IOA in the afternoon, you could be waiting well over an hour just for Forbidden Journey.

I can understand the reluctance to lose a day at Disney and maybe, if you prefer the Disney parks, two days at Universal may seem a waste but, if you were only going to spend a day then I would just pick one Universal park and do that thoroughly, rather than risking missing things because you are rushing around.

On our last visit, we spent almost 2 hours just in the new Springfield area of Universal Studios (first time we'd been since it opened). And we can easily spend a couple of hours in WWOHP, just taking in the atmosphere and having a nosey round the shops (even though we've been several times).

In my opinion, you are likely to miss things and also run the risk of making the whole experience unenjoyable if you are trying to cram everything in.

We did both in 1 day but you do need to carefully plan which rides and shoes you want to do.
It can be done but it is very tiring.

We only go at busy times, and accordingly, for the last 10 years, have only done Universal by staying a night at the Royal Pacific to get the UE. With this we have done both parks in a day every visit - it's a bit of a marathon day, but gives you the excuse to quaff a few (medicinal purposes ;) ) Margaritas as you leave the final park - am hoping the Lone Palm Bar opposite Jimmy Buffets is still open for June! :)

Just in case it helps anyone – I just got 3 adult and 1 child 2 day base tickets for universal/ IOA + 1 day free for £320 at http://www.undercovertourist.com/ (£80 each for 3 days) :)

Tickets are not park to park and have to be used by late May – TBH that’s perfect for us , we go in Feb and we haven’t been to Universal for so long that I can’t see why we’d hop between the 2 ;)

We very easily do both in one day. BUT, we only go off peak and we know what we want to do and what not to bother with, so we don't do everything and neither do we have children with us.

It all comes down to time of year and how much you want to do and who's in your party.

We don't do it every time we go as they are our least favourite theme parks in Orlando and we really can take or leave them. We will go back this year to see the extension to HP (hopefully!!).

Yes I concur, you'll have a great time on one day. but you won't have a chance to do everything

Also by the time of June most news site are pointing to the Harry potter extension Diagon alley being opening at the studio park which means that the Hogwarts express which requires a 2park ticket will be up and running.

A two day ticket can be found at the some price as a two week unlimited ticket with a UK travel agent so I'm split over whether to go for a one day ticket or the 14 day unlimited.
