BOSTON: What ONE restaurant should I find? UPDATE PG.2

Definitely stop in at the North End... so many possibilities, so little time!!!

Ooo! So many choices! I'm printing this one out for DH to peruse. We're staying at the Omni Parker House downtown. Are any of these within walking distance?? We have a rental car, but I'm not so good at driving.

I've stayed at the Omni Parker House many times, you'll love it! It's right in the Center of Everything! You can walk to the North End in about 5 minutes, Newbury Street in about 5 minutes, Charles St. in about 10, and your about a minute walk from Downtown Crossings, and about 2 minutes from Faneuil Hall! Your right across the street from Boston Common and the Flower Garden, which you could walk through on your way to Newbury St. The Prudential Center and Copley Plaza are about a 15 min. walk from Tremont and don't forget about ChinaTown 2 min, if you want some great Chinese Food!

Nine Zero is a few steps next door to the Omni Parker House, which has the Spire restaurant, (see my post below).
North End has some great restaurants too, if you would like some suggestions I'll give you our favorites.
The Omni has a grill type and sit-down restaurant in it too, they are both very good. They are famous for the Boston Cream Pie and the rolls are also a treat. Have some sent up for room service!

I think you could visit all those places I mentioned in one day, I have LOL
Have Fun! Can you tell I love Boston!

I edited to add that you can valet your rental car with Omni Parker House and take the T or walk around the City, driving can be tricky because of the one way streets. I drive from the Cape and park in a garage and walk everwhere, it's just easier.

P F CHangs. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We LOVE going to Fire and Ice (near the Hancock Tower). You pick you food and sauce from a raw buffet and then you watch them fry it up! Its great fun.

We also LOVE Maggianos's Litty Italy which near the Plaza hotel (kind of near the Hancock Tower) at http://www.maggianos.com/ They are a very good Italian restaurant (with steaks too) for not being in the North End.

We also very much enjoy restaurants in the North End as well, but especially the bakeries!!

For steak, I'd go to Grill 23 & Bar

Have fun!

Another vote for Grille 23, but bring your credit card. It is only about one mile from the hotel. Also, the restaurant inside the Parker House (Parker's Restaurant) is very good. My family had a really nice meal there last year and the service was excellent. The 'Parker House' rolls are sooo yummy. Enjoy your stay! :)

OK, so we're back...

Ate at the Union Oyster House for lunch. I had the fried oysters and a bowl of clam chowder. Now, let me tell you that my experience with fried oysters has been... Long John Silver's. Yeah, I know, but that's all we have round these parts. Boy, was this a world of difference!!

For dinner on Thursday night, we tried to eat at Fig on Charles Street (owned by Todd English). But it must have been 110 degrees in there, so we went back down by the Union Oyster House on our way to the North End (I pooped out -- couldn't make it after a day of walking all those hills).

Ended up at The Green Dragon just a few doors down from The Union Oyster House. Had a bowl of clam chowder, a 1.25 lb. lobster (my first!!) and a piece of Boston cream pie for $23, plus a Harpoon IPC on tap. Broke a bracket on my braces and poked my thumb on that %*#! lobster, but I had the last laugh as it digested in my belly. It was SOOOO good.

We also ate at the Beantown Pub on Tremont St. just down from our hotel. HORRIBLE service, but the food was really good. It was more of a bar that we like (rap music --- ugh!) but I had been working all day and just wanted a martini and some boneless buffalo wings.

BTW: I covered Sweet Tomatoes Neapolitan Pizza and Papa Gino's while I was there. LOOOVED Sweet Tomatoes (great owner just a few years older than me). She's in Newton Centre and it was really, really good. Papa Gino's had a great lobster roll and their rustic pizza was hearty, too. I was totally surprised at how packed this restaurant was all day!
