Saw the show last year and agree with everyone else.....show is fabulous! Be sure and be there on time as lots happens early!

Enjoy!

Campinggal, can you do me a small favor? When you take a look at the merchandise for sale, can you let me know generally of the price range for things? I am looking in particular for a Lion King poster that I can frame for our family room and a CD of the live performance. I'll definitely budget for this stuff!

Hey, are you all going to dinner first and where are you going? Are you parking at the lots nearby?

I'd be happy to check out the lovely assortment of Lion King stuff for you and report back either Sun or Mon. I don't know if they will have a CD of the Touring Cast- I'll check. I picked up the CD of the NY Cast a while back (probably thru Amazon) and it has been fun to listen to in anticipation of the show itself.

Re dinner and parking- I'll be visiting family in Charlestown so we will either eat over in Charlestown (home or restaurant) and do the taxi thing or drive and park.

My sister and I are going on 7/31! I can't wait!! :hyper:
Karen I'll miss you by a day.... (CAPER CAPER ;) )

I'll be interested in the merchandise report too, campingal ! ;)

Me too! Me too!

I wanted to go SO badly when they first went on sale way back when...last summer or something but we just didn't have the money for the good seats and I need decent seats for stuff like this...concerts too.

Anyway, suddenly they extended the show a few more months and they did it right when I got my tax money!!!!

So of course, I sent my DH over (he works in Boston) and he got us the best seats available between September and December. We are now going December 5, 7:00p show and we have aisle seats orchestra about 5 rows back!!

I'm so excited!!:teeth:

I saw the Lion King on broadway in March and it was great. The costumes and stage setups where amazing. If the show in Boston is anything close to one in NYC, you will love it.

September 7 for us, 3rd row center orchestra. Woohoo! I bought tickets when they did the presale for Disney Visa cardholders. (October 2003)

I live right in Boston, but have been to NYC to see Aida four times. I never got around to seeing the Lion King, so this will be a first. Yeah, I'm psyched!

Btw, my son is working for the Boston Channel this summer, and he got to tour the Opera House when they did the ribbon cutting last week. He said it is just incredible!

Dotti

Dotti, did you see the special on Chronicle last night on the new Opera House? They have been following the renovation since 1999, it was real interesting. I guess they will be offering tours sometime soon (I tried to get in to see where our seats are, but the nice lady said I couldn't, but come on one of the tours). Do you live anywhere near the Opera house and can you recommend a good restaurant for us around that area? My DH works on Congress St and walks up there every at noon, but he really doesn't know much about good places to eat. We don't want fast (pizza type), we want nice but not 36.00 entrees either. I know, I might be asking too much in Boston. Any help for that night would be great.

Beattyfamily, you got awesome seats, well done!!! I think we'll have real good seats too..row K (11 rows back), aisle seats, orchestra.

Campinggal, thank you for looking into the fun things to buy!! I can't wait to hear your review on the show. :D

Well, we are sitting in row V center orchestra, but we're going. So I'm not complaining. August 29. We just surprised my dd while watching the special this week. She was hopping all over the place. Poor dh is wondering if he is going to o.d. on Disney since we get back from WDW on the 21st!!

I have my wonderful DH to thank! He ran over to the Colonial theater to get them for me as soon as they released those new shows and the guy selling them mentioned a parade so that is why he suggested aisle seats!! I'm VERY excited to say the least!

I'm very happy for all the other Boston area Disney addicts going too!

OT: Anyone here going to see the Rockettes at the Wang Center this Fall? We are!

Hey all-

I just have to say thanks for starting this thread. I've been so up to my eyeballs with work and other stuff going to the Lion King this weekend was not even in my mind to be excited about it.

Ever since this thread started yesterday- I am totally excited!!!

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :hyper: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I'll report back on Sun/Mon!

We're not seeing the Rockettes at the Wang- I'm still bummed they booted the Nutcracker! I've seen the Rockettes at Radio City in NYC and they are excellent! Another fun show.

I was pretty mad too! But I'm excited about comparing the Rockettes here in Boston to NYC. I just saw them for the first time in NYC last December and it was GREAT. I couldn't bring my DDs then but now I can!

I would love to see the Nutcracker this year too but I can't afford $100 a ticket for the 4 of us!! They just went on sale!

Just bumping to see if anyone can recommend a restaurant near the Opera House. We have an 8:00 show, and we're planning on getting in town about 5:00, so walking is ok, but I don't think as far as the North End. Unless anyone has any ideas how to get there real easy without a car (ours will be parked near theatre)...my DH seems to think the T only goes as far as govt. center as far as getting into the North End...any ideas? would love to eat there.

I saw the Lion King last year in Memphis about a month after I'd seen it in London.

In London we had very, very good seats about 5 rows back in the center. In Memphis we had cheap seats way upstairs. I loved it both times.

I felt that the touring company was just as spectacular as the London production.

we saw the Lion King on the 17th of July!
It was awesome!! My Grandmother had gotten us tickets for Christmas.
Row N center section on the aisle!!

we ate at the Ritz Carleton for lunch before the show.
the food was great... (pricey though!)
We also heard that Avenue One which is just down the street across from the opera house was good.

Be warned about the bathroom lines at the intermission though ladies. If you think you want to go... Get there asap. The line was out of site when they were ready to start the show again....
:wave2: enjoy!

that is SO annoying...especially in a newly done place you'd think they'd have adequate facilities!
Note to self....don't drink anything and go before the show. ;)

Glad you enjoed the show....I'm down to a week to wait ! :Pinkbounc

Jillpie, there are a couple of good restaurants in the transportation building, which is about a five minute walk from the theatre. I really like P.F. Chang's for Chinese food. There's a California Pizza Kitchen, Bennigans, and a Rock Bottom Brewery there as well. Remington's on Boylston St. isn't fancy, but the food is good, and reasonable. There is Cafe Maliave for Italian in Downtown Crossing.

Ann, theatres never have enough stalls to handle the crowds. If I have to go, I always run up right away. I'll have to remember to warn my nieces to go before the show so that hopefully they can make it through the show without having to go.

Karen

Hey Jill. Not a Bean-Towner here, but did see Lion King, Broadway and Chicago both, and what a great show. You guys will love it. Enjoy!!!

Feenie, thanks for that reply! So glad the show was awesome. Thanks also for the restroom warning. How was the merchandise for sale, outrageous? Were there any posters that you could have framed later? And, were they selling CD's of the performance?

TLinden...thanks for all those restaurants! My DH took a walk on Friday and found all those...he thought he would like the steak house there? I'll show him your response, he'll like that.

Hey Dan! :D Thanks for chiming in here, much appreciated.
