BOS (Boston) to MCO.... Less non-stops now??

Hi everyone:

We're not traveling until next August but I like to plan and book things as far in advance as I possibly can.

I just booked us on Song (Delta Express) at a rate of $215. per person. It's non-stop, and they had the times I wanted.

When I started to check all the airlines to see who would have the best rate, I noticed that some of the airlines don't have non-stops from BOS to MCO anymore. The ones that did have flights to MCO, including a stop in another city, were more money. When did this happen?? When we flew in May 2001, we were able to fly on USAir, NON-stop. Now they, as well as many other airlines, only offer service with a stop in another city, which I am not willing to do.

I know that a decent rate from BOS is in the $200 price range, and since we're flying back on a holiday weekend (Labor Day weekend next year), I didn't want to take a chance of prices going up, or missing out on the flight times I wanted.

Did I do the right thing then, in booking Song for $215??

Keep your tickets, and if you should happen to find a lower fare for the same flights, apply for a voucher for the difference.

If your dates are very popular, that $215. fare can sell out fast.

From time to time there is a fare war fare of around $180. and once in awhile there are internet fare specials for scattered selected dates for less. Usually if the every day low price is already sold out (the most popular dates) , fare war prices will not be found later for that flight on that day.

yes, iagree....i tried booking at 330 days out for april vacation but the rates were in the 500-600 range...no way...waited a month and took a layover in miami for 260...there are much fewer direct flights from boston and none from providence...makes it tricky deceiding what to do especially on busy times.....still looking forward to it though!!!

actually you can fly non stop from providence. on southwest, and in september southwest generally has the $49 each way :teeth:

NS to MCO from BOS in Jan 2004! I'm waiting......and its hard to do!!!!!

Hey SeaSpray~
you're so right, there are less and less non-stops nowadays... I fly out of PVD, and Delta had stopped all non-stops for what I needed.. Finally SouthWest came out with their $99 promotion, it ended up $210 RT, not a bad price, I grabbed the non-stops for the times I needed as soon as they came out...

They did have a $79 promotion a few weeks after I booked, but for $20 difference, I don't mind, I have the flights I wanted and needed.

I usually booked right at 330 days but I can't bring myself to pay $215 for August when I paid $180 for the week after Thanksgiving (including Thanksgiving weekend arrival).

I'm trying to control myself and wait for Song to come down or wait for JetBlue! When will JetBlue offer airfare for August? It's driving me crazy!!

If it were a holiday week, I'd gladly pay $215 but it's just a week in August. Last August was going for $200. so I'm hopeful.

I was just saying the same thing to my DH!

I prefer to fly out of Manchester. Southwest has some nonstop flights but they are definitely becoming a rarity!

I usually plan way in advance. But we are going on a last minute trip from Boston to Orlando, on 12/12. I figured the fares would be out of sight. But, I got my dd and myself on a non-stop, at my favorite times, for only $215 each. We paid $207 in August, so I'm not complaining. Now, with JetBlue coming in 2004, we can only hope for really good fares, and flight times.
