Please let me know if I have this right:
We have two 100 point contracts, both APR UY
AKV - 100 pts
BCV - 100 pts
2013 trip, booking less than 7 months, requires 168 points.
2014 trip - planning to book AKV at 11 month window using 173 points.
For the 2013 trip, we want to use BCV points only, all of 2013 and the remainder for 2014. The on-line reservation system will not allow borrowing from BCV 2014 points until all 2013 AKV points are used. This is not how we want to use our points. Is this the way, in DVC rules, this is supposed to work? If I call MS to do the reservation, would they be able to work around this.
I found a couple of workarounds on-line - 1) make a "dummy" reservation using 2013 AKV points, then cancel after reserving the 2013 trip with borrowed BCV 2014 points or 2) go ahead and bank the 2013 AKV points to 2014.
For case 1 - if this can be done seems DVC should just let me borrow the 2014 BCV points without using the 2013 AKV points as this workaround ties up a DVC room for awhile.
For case 2 - this eliminates the ability to use those 2013 AKV points in 2013 if plans change (such as all of a sudden those are banked and then 2013 planned trip rooms are suddenly unavailable).
This seems like much more hassle than is necessary - wondering if this is policy or just an inefficiency in the on-line reservation system? Does having the same UY have anything to do with this?
