Borrowing points...

We just bought into DVC this past Spring and will be going to WDW next year. At this point we have a smaller contract and will need to borrow points from next year, what is the process for that? How do I go about it? Do I just do it when I'm booking? Any help would be great!! (sorry for being such a DVC moron!)

Yep - just tell the MS rep that you would like the reservation usuing borrowed points from your next use year - they'll walk you through the whole thing!

You can only borrow points when you are actually making a reservation. All you have to do is call MS and make the reservation. The CM will tell you that borrowing will be necesary to complete the reservation and go through the "borrowing is a final transaction" speech. It's very easy. Members do it all the time.

No questions are dumb. Keep in mind that at one time or another, EVERYONE on this board was new to DVC and had never made a reservation yet, nor borrowed points.

Just remember, in a few years you'll be the expert answering the same question for someone else who's new...

First WELCOME HOME!!!
If you haven't used the points you just purchased, and don't plan to use them this year, don't forget to BANK them. You have 6 months to bank all the points, then an additional 3 months to bank up to a total of 50%, then 1 more month to bank up to a total of 25%. If you don't use them or bank them, you LOSE them. So keep a close eye on dates.
