If you borrow points for say as a example a pool view at Boardwalk and waitlist a standard room do your points go back into your original use year (the year borrowed from). TIA

But they will use the borrowed points first for the new reservation. The extra points(assuming that you used both current and borrowed points) not used will be the current use year points. If you are within your banking window you can bank them forward. If all you used were borrowed points then they can not go back to where they came from. They stay in the current use year.
I just did basically the same thing. Booked another resort and canceled the old reservation made with both current and borrowed points and the extra points returned to me were current year points and the borrowed points were used for the new reservation.

You can have the borrowed points replace any current year points used for that trip. Those can then be banked if you are still in your banking window.

If your waitlist happens when you are 30 days or less out, the extra points become holding points and will expire at the end of the UY. They can only be used to book a stay 60 days out. So cancel your waitlist less than 31 days out. Don't do the 7 day waitlist unless you have a plan for using the extra points.

Yep, and if you book a room and then cancel they go into holding in the original use year.

Borrowed points do not go back to the UY they came from. They stay in the UY that they were borrowed into. So if you borrow 2019 UY points to use for a 2018 UY reservation, they remain 2018 UY points. They don't go back to 2019 UY.

And they only go into holding if you cancel or change to a reservation requiring fewer points 30 days or less. But if you change it the day you arrive or cancel the day you are supposed to arrive, you lose the points.

If your waitlist comes through, double check how the points were taken. I had one come through in June, but the borrowed points were put back into my account and the reservation was made with all current year points. I called, and the CM was able to rearrange which points were used for the reservation b/c they were completely different points than what had been used for the original reservation. She was very helpful and said that the borrowed points should've been used for the reservation first.
