hi I couldn't figure how to start a post so I chose to respond to yours!! I am NEW. if my new points don't post until aug 2015 can I borrow from 2016 for an april 2015 trip?

Welcome to the DIS!!

Points may be borrowed from the Use Year following the dates of the reservation you are making (points may only be borrowed when making a reservation).

With an August Use Year, you are currently in your 2013 Use Year (Aug 1, 2013 - July 31, 2014). For a stay in April, 2015 you will be in your 2014 Use Year (Aug 1, 2014 - July 31, 2015).

You will not be able to borrow from your 2016 Use Year for a stay prior to August 1, 2015.

Points "post" years in advance. If your use year is August, if you look at your account online, you should see 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016. But as Doc said, you can only borrow one use year ahead from the use year of your date of stay.

Easiest way for me to know what I can and can not use is first write down the UY my trip will happen. Then I know that I can "pay" for the trip, no matter when I book--11 months in advance or a week--with banked points from the UY prior to travel, points from the UY of travel, and borrowed points from the UY after travel.

So, as mentioned, an April 2015 trip takes place in your 2014 UY--which means, you can use 2013 banked points, 2014 points, and borrowed 2015 points.

If you have a June UY, then your November 2014 trip is within the 2014 UY. You can borrow from your 2015 UY, but not 2016.

Yes, that trip would be in your 2015 use year.

Just write out the dates:

Your 2015 use year is 8/1/2015 to 7/31/2016.
Your date of stay is 12/2015, so that would fall in your 2015 dates. So you can borrow 2016. If your date of stay was 7/2015, that would be in your 2014 use year because it is before 8/1/2015.

You can borrow points from your 2015 UY for any trip that will take place in the 2014 UY. It does not matter when you call to book. So with an April UY, you can book using 2015 points for any trip from April 1st, 2014 until March 31st, 2015.

I'm sorry... This may have been answered. Do I need to call to borrow from UY 2015 for a trip in 2014? Online booking will not let me borrow from 2015 , just from 2014UY.

If it's not allowing you to borrow, then there is either a problem or you are trying to book a trip still in your 2013 UY. Borrowing can occur online.

OK thx! I'm trying to book a June trip for a week in a studio OKW with just my youngest and I have almost enough for a 6 day stay with my 2014 points. I'm shy about 19 pts. Should I do a one time buy with cash?
