Quick question ---

Borrowing points ---

How many years in advance can you borrow?
Example, in Use Year 2009, can I borrow points from 2010, 2011 and 2012?

Thanks!

You can only borrow points backwards one use year. You also, according to the current disney policy, can only borrow what you need to make a reservation. In other words, unlike banking you can't just call up and say "put my 2010 points in my 2009 use year." As a practical matter, though, you could accomplish this if you really wanted to (not sure why you would). You could just call today and make a reservation that requires you to borrow all of your 2010 points and then cancel it. Now all your 2010 points are in this use year, since borrowing is a final transaction.

As a practical matter, you really only have access to two years ahead. If you call to make a 2010 reservation (assuming you're in your relevant time window to make it) you can borrow 2011 points.

The only time you could borrow from 2 years is if your date of stay straddles your use year. For example if your use year is August and you stay July 28-August 4, you could borrow 1 year for the nights of July 28-31 and the next year for August 1-3.

A couple of things to keep in mind. If you borrow points, you cannot trabsfer them to another member.

Also, once borrowed, they come into the current use year. So if you borrow 2010 points for a 2009 vacation and then cancel that reservation, the borrowed points expire at the end of your current 2009 use year.

I personally prefer to borrow points than worry about missing the banking deadline!
