borrowing points question

This may be a dumb question but I am new to DVC. I was just wondering if you borrow points for the following year when that year comes around can you still borrow from the following as well. For example say in 2013 I wanted to borrow 100pts from my 2014 points to use for Aulani. Then when 2014 comes say I had 56 points left for that year could I then Borrow 50-100 from the 2015 use year if needed?

Yes, but be careful and double check MS when they borrow for you or make a reservation. They sometimes make mistakes.

DVC would be very happy if you borrow ahead...most likely that means you will need to add-on.

some general comments about borrowing that you may already know, but others have been confused about.

1) you can borrow 1 use year ahead (and not more than that.)

2) if you have a dec UY, and you call now to book dec 2012 with 2012 pts, you are not borrowing the 2012 pts. they are "current" based on time of stay - even if you are booking before your 2012 use year starts.

3) so (assuming a dec UY) since you can call 11 months ahead to book your home resort, you can call in feb 2012 to book jan 2013 with "current" dec 2012 pts plus you can borrow your full allotment of dec 2013 pts at that time.

Thanks this is helpful. I knew about only being able to borrow one year ahead. We will definetely be adding on down the road to our points we just purchased 160pts for now to get us in lol. Next year we want to do 5nights at Aulani in a 1bdrm OV and also do an 8 night trip to Disney split stay between AK Kidani 1bdrm SV/BLT studio TPV. One of the trips will be Feb/March and the other around Oct. So I calculated that I will need approximately 445pts to do all of the above next year. Our UY is in April so we currently have 21 pts banked from our 2011 pts plus 160pts for this year which we are going to carry until the beginning of 2012. Then we also will get our 2013 points next year which will give us 341pts. So we would need to borrow 104pts from our 2014 UY. So when 2014 rolls around we will only have 56 pts left. So we will want to do a week in Disney in 2014 and obviously will need to borrow at least 50pts depending on our plans. So I wanted to make sure we could do this. Hope all that made sense... I think in maybe 3-4yrs time when we can save up and pay cash we we will buy at least another 100pts through resale for AKV (we currently own at BLT).
