Borrowing points--must use?

I know when we became members, I knew the answer to this, but since it was never an issue, I forgot the rules. So here's the question:

Our use year is September, but we are planning a trip in June so will borrow points. Is it true that once I make a reservation with these borrowed points that I must use them before September? I think that's how it works, but thought you guys woud know for sure. Thanks!

If your use year is September, those points are good for reservations until the following Aug 31, so you should be fine for a trip in June without borrowing unless it will require more points than you will have available.

You can't borrow points except to make a reservation, so unless you cancel that reservation it is not an issue. If you would cancel a reservation made with borrowed points, they would have to be used for a trip ending by Aug 31 or they would be lost. Borrowed points cannot be banked or returned to their original use year.
