Borrowing now, can I bank this UY points later?

So here is my dilemma and I need some help.

I am currently booked for my home resort (BWV) for 5 nights in November. We are waitlisted at BLT which is where we really would like to stay. I have been doing regular searches via the online tool and occasionally a day or two of what I need will pop up. Since I have most of points tied up in my 5 day reservation, if I wanted to book any of these individual days that pop up at BLT to try and piece together a stay there, I will have to borrow points. So my question is, if I end up needing to borrow a bunch of points to get my BLT stay together, when I go to cancel my BWV reservation, can I bank those points to next year?

Yes, each individual point from each use year is seperate, so you can borrow 2013 points now and later bank 2012 points (assuming you are still in your 2012 banking window)

If I book a few individual nights with borrowed points and end up not using those nights, can member services switch my existing reservation to used the borrowed points so I can bank my points from this current UY? I don't want to get stuck with extra points.

You can only Bank the points if they are current UY points (were not banked / borrowed) AND you cancel 4 months before your UY (so you can bank them) and you cancel within 31 day (or maybe 30 - not sure) of your check in.

As for being able to swap the borrowed for your current reservation, I am not sure. If the entire stay is available for booking yet, than I would say yes. Otherwise, not sure. You should probably call MSs to see what they say. And maybe call twice since their responses are not always the same.

Are all the points from the same resort (it matters if you used the home resort advantage to book your BWV room)? If they are, then MS should be able to swap out the points. Some MS agents are more knowledgeable about this process than others, so if you call and get someone who seems not well versed then call back or ask for a supervisor. Good luck getting BLT!
