Borrowing, holding and cancellation

We are thinking of taking a trip in November. I may have to borrow points for it. But, if I should have to cancel the points go into holding, right?

So if I have a reservation and use 100 points and I don't go they go into holding and I have to use them by the end of the year I borrowed into right? So If I borrow 08 for a vaction in 07 then I would need to use those points by the end of 07, they do not go back to 08. Do I have that right?

The "holding" comes into account if you cancel at 30 days or less. The fact that the borrowed points cannot be put back in their original year is not because of "holding." "Holding" does put the additional restriction that you cannot book at a DVC with those points more than 60 days out.

if you cancel those 100 points 31+ days out they will go into your 2007 UY and you will need to use them by the end of it. If you cancel them within 30 days they will go into holding and you will still have to use them by the end of 2007 UY, but won't be able to book until 60 days out.
