borrowing 2014 points

Hi everyone,

I'm curious, can you borrow 2014 points in 2012? Are their limitations to borrowing a total two years, this and next years points?

You can borrow one UY into the future of the date of the reservation you are making. In March 2012 you will be able to make reservations for February 2013, and you could use (potentially if you wanted to) if you have a February UY, banked 2012 points, current 2013 points, and borrowed 2014 points.

It all depends on what your UY is and what UY the reservation you are making falls into. I have a June UY, so if I want a June 2013 reservation I can borrow my 2014 points into it when I make a reservation in July 2013, but not any sooner than that. Hope that makes sense.

As mentioned, you can borrow 2014 UY points for any trip that falls into your 2013 UY.

First, determine what UY your trip is falling--which may or may not be the same calendar year--and go from there.

When you make your reservation, MS will do the same and if you are traveling in your 2013 UY, they will used banked 2012 UY points first, 2013 UY points, and then borrow from 2014 UY if necessary.

If, however, you are making a reservation that falls in your 2011 or 2012 UY, then no, you won't be able to get 2014 UY points.

If you have a Feb UY and want to book a Feb 2013 reservation at the 11 month window, you could use 2012, 2013 and 2014 points for that reservation. Feb 2013 is not in the 2013 UY of any UY except February. -- Suzanne

as others have said, you can only borrow 1 year ahead.

if you call in july 2012 to book june 2013 with pts from your 2013 UY, that is not borrowing - the pts are current based on the dates of the stay, not when you called.

so you would still be able to borrow pts from your 2014 UY when you call in july 2012.
