Hi there, we currently have a reservation for June using some points we borrowed from our August 2020 point balance. Does anyone know if Disney will put our borrowed points back if we want to cancel or if Disney is still closed on our travel dates?

The current policy is to return borrowed points to their original UY if the reservation is canceled due to the virus. That could change at any time.

We have used borrowed points for our October trip and when I called to ask about how it would work if they are still closed and I was told that any borrowed points would go back to the original use year they were borrowed from. Not sure what the policy would be if you just decide to cancel on your own.

There's no additional harm to you in waiting to cancel unless you want to move the reservation to July and are worried about availability.

The banking deadline for the 2019 points has passed, so all points in the June reservation expire on 7/31/2020. Again, unless you want to move the reservation to July, you might as well wait for DVC to cancel it if the resorts don't open before your arrival date. Current policy will return the borrowed 2020 points to the 2020 use year.

If you just don't want to travel before 8/1/20, and want the 2020 points right away to make a reservation after 8/1/20, call MS to see what the policy is for June reservations.

Thank you for the feedback! We will probably wait it out to see what happens. I really hope Disney does something for ppl who lose points because of closures. Seems kinda unfair if there’s no opportunity to use points before they expire.

Please remember that you're an owner who has delegated authority to another entity to act in your interest.

if anyone owes you something, it's the owners of the timeshares.

It would be challenging to move all unused points forward- the system doesn't have extra capacity in it to absorb the extra. And Florida time share las also plays a role.

I have a September use year and a June trip booked, some with borrowed 2020 points (not many, but still). Today I cancelled my June trip with Member Services & she told me that the borrowed points will return to my 2020 use year, but it might take up to 30 days. Since this policy can change at any time, I figured cancelling now was a better idea. I had to cancel since I am a teacher and don't know when the school year will end this year, either.

So if I reschedule a May trip to November and my banking deadline is July, would it be better to bank 2019 points and then borrow 2020 points for November trip. The logic being if they are still closed in November the 2020 points would go back to that UY whereas if I used 2019 points they would be lost since I would be past banking deadline?

Yes, but they will be open in November.

We have an August UY with a June trip that I both banked and borrowed for. My mind knows it’s very unlikely Disney will be open in June but my heart doesn’t want to let go of the reservation yet. I am very upset that I’m going to lose a ton of points and won’t be able to reschedule the special graduation trip we had planned because the loss of points will put us in a position of not having enough anymore, even with borrowing from 2021.

we are in similar situation. May 22nd trip book 200 2019 uy Aug. we have been trying to remain optimistic but day by day things look gloomier. We have one child with asthma to consider too. I called today to see what my options are and was basically told they’ll need to be used by July 31. I would really love to just bank at this point but we are now past that point.
