We have a 2 bedroom booked at SSR for Sun through Thurs. nights in Aug. Because I was just able to lower our airfare with a special DING fare from SWA, we will now be arriving on Sat. I'm already borrowing pts from 2006. Should we borrow an additional 68 pts to add an additional Sat. night in a 2 bedroom (there's 6 of us total), should I make a separate ressie for 2 studios for Sat. night and borrow 58 pts.? Should we pay cash for either 2 studios or the 2bedroom for Sat. night? Or should we make a cash ressie at another Disney resort and transfer over to SSR the next day? I'm trying to keep the cost down for the additional Sat. night so cost is a major factor here. Anyone know what the cash price would be for a Sat. night in a Studio at SSR and also the cash price of a Sat. night stay in a 2 bedroom? Thanks for the suggestions. :confused3

Hi

The average non discount listed price from WDW is Studio $259/night each studio - and $490 for the 2bdrm for the one night - What time are you arriving on Saturday? If its late and just to crash I would think aout trying to get a couple of cheap rooms in the area(try priceline or hotwire) and even if you are spending the whole day(arriving in Orlando early) but are concerned w/point usage maybe you could still just stay off property for 1 night for cash?

I have done hotwire before and always ended up getting a good deal - heres a link that helps you figure out what hotel you are getting before you purchase from priceline or hotwire.

GOOD LUCK

In similar situations, we've either booked a very cheap hotel near the airport (if we arrived late in the day), or booked a hotel near Univeral/Sea World. We used the extra time to visit Universal, Sea World, or other non-Disney attractions.

Best wishes -

We figured out a very basic cost per point for our DVC points. We didn't consider time value of money - just kept it simple. Anyway we figure our points are costing us roughly between $6-7 each. If you would do this you could compare cash ressies to point ressies and decide which is better.

The least expensive thing would probably be to stay at a value resort Sat night and move to DVC on Sunday. We bought APs with the new discount which can get a better rate. We plan on doing Disney twice every other year with trips about 11 months apart. So we will be buying APs every other year. Mousesavers often list specials at all the Disney hotels so sometimes you can find a bargain there.

Have Fun! Jean and Bob

Here's an idea we've done for our last two trips. Since points are at a premium for Fri and Sat, we stay on site at Universal Friday and/or Saturday. When staying on site, your room key works as a "fast pass" on each attraction. Checkout www.mousesavers.com for specials at Universal--we have paid 50% of rack rate there before with the entertainment card offer.
Have a great trip!

When we get in late we just snag a room at a value or moderate. We really dont use our points on weekend nights anyway since we only have 215 and we get a 2 bdrm due to our family size. Last time we arrived on a Sat we dropped off our groceries at BWV til our check in the next day.

Well, since I am incredibly point greedy, I would not even consider using them for a Friday or Saturday stay. I would do priceline, hotelkingdom etc for a desirable room at a discounted price.

I am paying cash for my last night in HH this July. I got the member discount for a little over 300 for a Friday night. Personally, I did not think this was too bad considering the month.

I have myself believing that the entire trip is 300 bucks and when we go to WDW, I actually think it is free. My hubby is quick to tell me otherwise....Men, why do they rain on my parade!! :umbrella:

I'll check with CRO to see what kind of rate I can get at either the All Stars or POR. Our flight is not arriving on Sat. until 5:30 p.m. and I want to use the free Magical Express transportation, so I need to stay at a Disney resort. We need two rooms, so I have to be cost conscietious. I really hate the thought of having to transfer from one resort to SSR, but I also don't really want to borrow an additional 68 pts. for a Sat. night stay.

We are arriving very late Thursday, April 14th--our flight arrives @ 11:10PM. I called just to get an idea of how much a room would be paying cash at the BW--it was about $500. I decided to use points ;) . Here is the way I am looking at it (or trying to rationalize)! At least our room will be ready! LOL!
