 Hi Y'all. We are off again in october and I have started to do itinery. It helps with the disappointment of not going NOW! to start itinery so early. Anyhoow, We are really quite bored of Ponderosa and wondered where your favourite other brekkie haunts are.
Thanks Nicky

:goodvibes Offsite? Golden Corral, Sizzler, all have same types of stuff but Golden Corral has a bakery where the foods are freshly baked. You can get ommelettes made fresh too. Have you tried Waffle House ?

Hi Magicmouse2. That was quick LOL. We are staying at CS this time. Have not tried waffle house, did do IHOP last time which was quite good. Have only done evening meal at Golden Corral not b'fast. I have read that sizzlers has gone downhill?? Any thoughts,

We like Golden Corral for breakfast. They have an omelette station and a fresh bakery. Just a personal preference - I like the one at Little Lake Bryan next to Bahama Breeze.

Don't like Ponderosa at all, dirty, old food and not such a good choice IMO.

My in-laws who are just back say that Sizzler (at least the ones on I-Drive anyway) seem to have gone through a refit lately and are a lot cleaner and smarter than they have been in a while. They would normally always eat at Ponderosa, but preferred Sizzler this time round.

Personally I like an IHOP breakfast. Okay, it's not buffet all you can eat style, but their pancakes can't be beat. Especially with a side order of crispy bacon....

.... hmmmmm, getting all hungry now - I'm off to raid the fridge!

We ate at the sizzler in Kissimmee and it was good. :) though not as good as Golden Corral bakery. Golden Corral s bakery is great though their meat buffet station is poor, bacon too crisp and sausages just floppy. Their bakery is the best choice. There are a few Ponderosas. The worst IMHO is the one near DD. The best - . :goodvibes

We loved the golden coral last time (3 years ago) but have been reading on some other threads its gone down hill and its dirty. Anyone been recently :confused3

Another vote for Golden Coral here. Regarding going downhill, which one are you talking about?

We actually thought the buffet breakfasts at Sizzler was far superior to the one at Ponderosa and that was October 2004. Ponderosa always seemd to be so busy and full of people eating obscene amounts of food whereas at Sizzler it seemed nicer, less crowded and there was fresh fruit on the buffet! :cool1: As we were staying at the Wyndham on I Drive we also went to Perkins across the road for a sit down breakfast a few times and it was excellent - the muffins are humungous! :cloud9:

We had a few breakfasts at Dennys last time and really enjoyed them.

Agree. Dennys has improved and Golden Corral has gone down the pan.
Best place in my opinion is Cracker Barrel.

Dennys is quality for breakfast, we must have gone there about ten times on our last holiday! You get what you pay for at Ponderosa, to be honest I found their breakfast to be quite 'sickly', the quality was very poor but it was rammed with people eating as if their lives depended on it! Ok as a one-off novelty visit, but I prefer Dennys for their much superior breakfast menu - can't get over the pancakes and syrup on the same plate as the bacon though!!!

Another vote for Dennys here, service good, food excellent and reasonable, nice and clean as well

We loved breakfast at IHOP (I found eggs benedict a sensible sized meal - no huge side of pancakes to frighten me!) and two DS loved the pancakes. We also very much enjoyed Perkins, the waitress was very friendly (and knew how we brits like our tea!) and with the kids meals you get a large sugar cookie to take away (which were delicious).

We didn't try Cracker Barrel fro breakfast but loved it for dinner. :goodvibes

I'm hungry now.... :sad2:

I do love Denny's and International House of Pancakes (IHOP) but it must be said that I think Perkins is far the winner :)

Perkins Website

In IHOP terms its 2 poached eggs, each on a slice of Canadian (i.e. thick back) bacon on top of a toasted muffin, covered with hollandaise sauce and served with hash browns.

Mmmmmmmmmmm! :flower:

We liked Cracker Barrel last year and were keen to go there again when we were there the other week, but we were very disappointed. We had to wait ages to be served and then the waitress got the order wrong. I think we'd still be there now waiting for the extra milk for our coffees. We reminded her twice and she never brought it. Not the service you expect in the US. I did hear another table complaining too. Maybe they were just having an off day.
